Giamela's Submarine Sandwiches

Their pepper steak sandwich gives me life, and that's all you need to know. That's the only sandwich I'll ever get. Just something to keep in mind, they are cash only and generally do not take any bills over $20. There's street parking out front and there's some parking in the rear. This is a small mom and pop shop so they close early. They have a few booths in case you want to eat in. The guys in there are also super nice and service is so quick.

It's an OK sandwich. Nothing I would drive across town for. The service was fast an friendly. There is a bit of seating both inside and out.They do pile on this onion, tomato, pepper mixture, which I found made it harder to eat than I'd like, with all of it falling everywhere. I'd prefer the sliced items inside between the meat an roll.The roll was nice, the meats decent. Keep in mind it is cash only. Bottom line, maybe the Italian meat sandwich isn't the best choice as folks really seem to like some of their other offerings a lot. If I'm over in that part of town and looking for quick lunch I'd give it another try.

I love me some Giamela's!!! I've been enjoying their subs for about 30 years. The Pepper Steak is soooo good and my usual when stopping here. It's a hole in the wall type of Restaurant with a couple booths and an outdoor patio. There menu is straight forward, simple and there are no frills. When its good... that is enough. The portions are good and they offer bags of chips and caned sodas to go with your meal. Damn... I'm craving one just writing this up. Get some!I WILL be returning!!!Enjoy!!!@jshoeats #jsho

This $14 pepper steak sandwich was HUGE and tasted good! The service was friendly but the establishment as far as the national building could use some updates (but at the same time, that's part of the charm). Worth stopping by if you're looking for this kind of sandwich.

Giamela's has been in business since 1964 and has three locations. We went to the one in Burbank on Magnolia and found parking in the front. It was the perfect time to visit since we had the order taken immediately and sat outdoors in the front. It's cash only, so come prepared. We had the Large Italian Cold Cuts and Small Turkey. They both were packed with onion, cucumber, tomatoes, and layers of meats. It felt like the sandwiches combined weighed 3 lbs, which is why they double bag. The service was great and the Pastrami looks enticing.

Old town Burbank simple and unsophisticated. Inside there are a few spots to sit down. Pick your meat and that's it. The sandwiches are big and very affordable for the size. Splitting a large is good for me. I had the pepper steak and pastrami which were both good choices. I got it with everything. I think they get better if they sit a little so the flavors all meld together. Definitely a place to go back to. Counter service was fast and direct.

This was my first time eating here and it was delicious! According to a local that eats here, often, we lucked out because we were able to find parking and the line was not out the door like it usually is.The staff is super friendly and makes the sandwiches quick (we had an order of 7). There are chips for you to buy and a small seating area inside and on the patio. I had the pepper steak and it was so good. The small was still a decent size and I had enough for 2 meals. The sandwiches come with Mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickle I believe. But they ask you and make it how you want it right as your ordering it. Definitely would like to go back.

@Burbank location the pepper stake was cold and the meat greasy it had been a while since I had eaten the Giamelas and I was very disappointed I don't think o would go back to this location.

Love that place ..went there from 1992 all the way thru 2007.. was and is the best pastrami I've had in Burbank....

I'm going to be honest I haven't been here but I drive by everyday and honestly thought it wasn't open. I'm excited to give it a try, prices seem a little steep but you got to do what you got to do to keep a mom and pop place in business
