What a great surprise this place is!!!My friend and I went to 1404 today after our morning walk at Brand Library. It is a humble cafe/restaurant without a sign outside that we had to find it by the address. It is black and dark so it's not that appealing from outside to walk in.We were seated and served by a very friendly server. We ordered Mango Shrimp Salad, Quiche Lorraine, Steak Sandwich, and WOW! They were all so amazing, better than any other brunch/lunch places in or near LA area.The flavor, portions, even the price were great, and we enjoyed every bite of everything. The only wish we had were maybe more mango & Shrimp in the salad. Their blue tables outside are so cute, and we think bright yellow tent/sign over the restaurant would be a great match and make it more attractive.This is a MUST GO & TRY if you want real food and amazing breakfast or lunch.

Another one of the hidden little spot you stumbled upon. We found this place on Yelp. It's situated along a small block in Glendale. In a residential area that's off the main hustle and bustle of the city. Quite a cute strip with a few restaurants, coffee shops, salon, bakery and a couple other businesses. The restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seating which most people were utilizing outside as it was such a nice day out. Henry, who was our waiter was the sweetest and friendliest. Very cheerful which is always a plus. It was more of a local hotspot as he seemed to know all the guests that were dining, chatting with everyone and just being friendly. Menu, as for brunch did offered some nice dishes. We started off with some mimosas, great way to start. Then the mussels which were amazing. The flavors with the sauce, highly recommend. Also the bruschetta, very good. Entrees, the ahi Niçoise salad with eggs, green beans, tomatoes, olives was excellent. As well as the croque madame sandwich. Flavors were excellent, service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Places like this that are hidden gems are what's it's all about. Will definitely be back. Again, Henry was a gem and excellent.

The food was okay, we showed up at 10ish thinking they had just opened. I looked at the times and they opened at 8a so tell me why the food took forever to come out? There was only 4 ppl that had been here prior to us two and they had already ordered!We walked in, one of the waiters came in and and said hi how's it going and then that was it. We waited for like 10 min before someone came and just asked if we wanted in or out door seating. The ambiance was okay, we sat outside since it's a nice day out. We ordered salmon Benedict and the French toast. And that wasn't amazing. The waiter has yet toCome back and check on us, meanwhile we're just sitting here trying to get someone's attention. I'm not sure I'll be coming back here. For that the total came out to about 50 bucks.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The only reason I would suggest not coming is to try to keep this jewel from getting too crowded. Their menu is great and I have tried almost everything. I have never been disappointed. My favorite is the steak sandwich and fries if I am feeling indulgent.

It's a rainy Saturday and we walked into 1404 and I was immediately impressed by how the entire place sparkled with cleanliness, including the open kitchen. We were greeted by our affable server, Henry. Within seconds we had our tasty coffees and complimentary toasted nut bread with jam and butter. (When was the last time a place gave you something delicious for free??) We sat for awhile as a steady stream of seemingly locals filed in to sit or grab and go, all with exuberant hellos to the owner. When my potatoes and veg quiche arrived it was blissful as was my friend's strawberry waffle stack maple thing! (Pic below) On my next visit I won't hesitate to order a Bloody Mary which are rumored to be divine. In the midst of Kenneth Square 1404 is worth the trip and some cute shopping afterwards. Go!

Terrific place for a quick lunch. My favorite dishes are Chipotle Chicken Sandhwich and chicken pesto wrap.

A total hidden treasure in Kenneth Village. Ginormous sandwiches and salads. Terrific service, too.

I received a note from Yelp that the business owner complained about my review. I stand by every word and will not be bullied or threatened for bringing to light the absolute abuse we experienced here.
