Fanny's food, ambience, and service has me planning my next reservation. From the menu, to the plating, and of course to the tase - it is pure excellence. The ambiance was both lively and calming; a place that can be molded by an individuals perspective. Truly, whether the guest wants a nice date or a fun night out, Fanny's fits it all. And of course the service. Jimmy and Max are both so incredibly welcoming, attentive, and truly care about the experience of all guest. Thank you to all staff! I will be coming back.

Fanny's has all the makings of a great spot, good food, a cool-looking venue, but unfortunately, the execution fell short. The staff (hostess, bartenders, servers) were sweet and clearly trying their best, but it was obvious they hadn't been properly trained. Service was confused and disorganized, which is more of a management issue than a staff issue.Speaking of management... yikes. We were seated last-minute and running a little behind, but instead of accommodating us graciously, the manager literally stood over our table at 7:30 with his backpack on, making it crystal clear he had somewhere else to be. We were still taking our last bites and finishing our cocktails when we were practically shooed out before their closing at 7:45. Nothing says "we value our customers" like a manager who prioritizes his own evening plans over the guest experience! Now, the food? Solid. We had the burger, steak frites, salmon, and jidori chicken, and everything hit the mark. But here's the catch: if you want to enjoy it in a nice setting, you'd better be willing to eat dinner at 5 PM. Because despite arriving in time for last food orders, we weren't allowed to sit in the actual dining room and had to eat in the café side--which, let's be honest, is not where you want to sip a martini and enjoy a nice meal. The dining room had ambiance, but the café felt like, well, a café. It was completely vibe-less for such a cool-looking venue.I don't love leaving less-than-glowing reviews, but this place needs to get it together. With better training and better customer service--especially from the manager--Fanny's could be great. For now? Meh. Three stars for effort, good food, and potential.

I have been to Fanny's twice, and I won't be back. I really want to love this place, the decor is beautiful and it's a nice evening to come see a screening and have a bite before or after. But the service is so horrendous that I can't justify the high prices, no matter how good the food is. Both times I've been there I've gotten my food before my drinks. There is no reason for the bar to be so slow with three bartenders behind it. On this visit it took them a solid 15 minutes to acknowledge us. I ordered a cosmopolitan, but was brought their twist on it, which is not good; when I asked if I could exchange it for a glass of wine, the bartender haughtily brought me a glass without even asking what kind of wine I wanted. Our meatballs had come easily 10 minutes before we got our drinks, but no plates or utensils until we asked for them. Twice. There is better food and better service at cheaper prices just a short drive away at Canter's. That's where I'll be going next time I come to the Academy for a screening.

Fanny's has great service and great food. I tried the tuna bowl and it was surprisingly very, very good. I think it may have been a daily special since it wasn't on the regular menu. service is pretty attentive, the food comes out quick. It's also very nicely decorated and has good decor.

Right on the ground floor inside the Motion Picture Academy Museum, it's easy access and way worth it for the creative, trippy takes on what would otherwise be considered 'normal' menu items. I started with the BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP. Outstanding. Full of warm, autumnal spices, a hint of kick plus plump golden raisins which made it SO-Cal. Then I went for the GRILLED SEASONAL VEGETABLES. Our waitress (impish, chirping, lovely) said upon ordering; "It's zucchini, is that okay?" What came out was so much more than that. Lovingly fire-grilled zucchini slices with some sort of other-worldly sauce/seasoning, olive oil drizzle - and a fire-grilled avocado half. That was a first and it was the best.

Located conveniently right in front of my home, I had hoped this would become a regular spot if the food was good, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. Situated inside the Academy Museum, the interior and ambiance were perfect for a casual dinner, and the food presentation was appealing. However, the taste did not live up to expectations. The lobster pasta, which I was most excited about, turned out to be overly salty and focaccia had no taste at all. The jidori chicken was probably the best dish of the evening, but overall, it was mediocre.

Nestled inside the Academy Museum, this restaurant is a perfect choice if you're visiting the museum. It seamlessly blends a casual vibe with fine dining and celebrates cinema in every detail, from its menu to the décor. The space is divided into two distinct areas: a casual front section with coffee, snacks, and baked goods and a fine dining area further back. Original illustrations of movie costumes and Hollywood photography adorn the walls. We ate during their happy hour and enjoyed cheeseburger sliders, mixed nuts, and fries.

This was my second time dining at Fanny's. Named after Fanny Brice, it's located within the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, although you don't need museum admission to dine here. They have a café and pastry menu during the day in front, and the rear dining room is open for dinner. There's also a bar. Fanny's was participating in DineLA's Restaurant week, my reason for visiting this time, so the dining room is also open for DineLA lunch during this time. For my first visit, I ordered off the regular menu, which was fine. The DineLA menu had dishes not on the regular menu; dinner was $65 prix-fixe for 3 courses. Lunch was $35 for 2 courses.I ordered the shellfish ceviche, steak katsu, and olallieberry tart. The ceviche had scallop, shrimp and octopus in a tangy wasabi lime vinaigrette. The steak katsu was steak breaded and fried like chicken katsu and came with a traditional katsu sauce, a tangy slaw, and delicious house-made milk buns. The olallieberry tart was beautifully presented and tasty.A great value and very convenient if visiting the Academy Museum or LACMA next door,

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Not very friendly, especially for a coffee shop. Terrible quality coffee. God awful. They don't have nonfat or 2% milk, a piece of info the owner does not share nicely or apologetically. They made the wrong coffee, twice. The first time it was iced not steamed. The second time it was lukewarm not steamed despite the fact that I asked for the milk to be steamed 3 times. Their largest coffee size is TINY. And it's $7. THE COFFEE DRIPPED ALL OVER MY CLOTHES BECAUSE THE CHEAP CUP THEY SOLD ME FOR $7 was faulty. Oh, and they don't even have WiFi. Their ONLY advantage is that they're in the middle of a museum. Traffic to the museum is the reason they have customers. I was visiting LA.This was not a fun part of the day. Eeww.
