Went for Dine LA lunch, and I was impressed. The restaurant layout reminded me of some restaurants in Japan. We got the Snake River Farms wagyu sukiyaki nabe and the otsukuri tempura gozen set. The ebi, amberjack, and tuna sashimi and the jellyfish salad with yuzu in the gozen set were so fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed the chawanmushi and tempura. The wagyu sukiyaki nabe was so flavorful and addictive. I scraped the nabe pot clean because of how good it was.Service was great, too. They set up the sukiyaki nabe in front of you and cook a few pieces of the wagyu to show you how it's done. Overall a fantastic experience and would love to go back.

Booked this place to come for my wifes birthday. YAWARAGI (和) - 3 Appetizers (Simmered dish & Vinegared dish & Aemono dish) Soup, Sashimi Plate, Oshinogi (Sushi)1 Dish (Steamed dish. Grilled dish or Deep-fried dish) 10 Pc. Omakase Sushi, Miso soup, Pickles & DessertTSUKI (月) - 3 Appetizers (Simmered dish. Vinegared dish. Aemono dish) Soup1 Dish, Sashimi plate, Yosenabe, Porridge of rice, Pickles & DessertI won't go into much detail on each individual plate and dish. What I can say is that the quality of the food is there and the freshness of the ingredients is great. What was lacking was the service. Every time we had a question about the menu the waitress looked absolutely clueless.

I booked Eigikutei's Sushi Kaiseki tasting menu for this year's Valentine's day celebration and it wasn't awful but overall the value of the experience to me did not meet the cost. I would quote this experience at ~$150 value, whereas the cost was ~$350 after tax and tip. The whole experience was just mediocre and I don't think it was celebration worthy. Starting off, I made reservations for 2 on OpenTable. At the time of the reservation, I had to pick which tasting menu I wanted, I opted for the Yawaragi tasting menu ($130/person). A credit card was required to reserve. The week of the reservation I got a message from them on OpenTable saying I had to pick which menu if we're doing kaiseki. But I literally picked already. Fine. I confirmed. Still really redundant and a waste of my time. On the day of the reservation, we arrived at the parking structure they recommended 45 minutes early and it was completely full. We circled around the area and no parking was to be found. We attempted another parking structure and it was completely full too. Such a mess. We ended up running late, so prepare extra time for parking if you decide - against my advice - to come here. Upon arrival, I couldn't take the business front photo I usually take, because there was someone drugged up and yelling by the entrance so I was too scared to stop. Nevertheless I was hoping the worse was over and we could begin enjoying our celebration. Since we already pre-ordered the Yawaragi tasting menu, staff only showed us the drink menu. We were seated at a wide booth. It felt really far apart from each other since they had an induction stove at the center. This is for the folks who order shabu. We didn't have any shabu as a part of our order but still had to sit there. Not intimate in that sense. Since I love Yuzu, my boyfriend and I shared a Yuzu Sparkling Sake ($9.50). Unfortunately the taste of the yuzu fell short. I drank it to get rid of it, but I wasn't enjoying it. The Yawaragi comes with the following: - 3 Appetizers: a simmered dish, vinegared dish, and aemono dish. A great start to our meal. If only this was the quality par for the whole meal. - Soup: a plain soup with a fish ball. Nothing special. - Sashimi plate: tuna, yellow tail and sweet shrimp. Average quality, nothing special. Leaves more to be desired. - Oshinogi: one piece of sushi, this had crab. Nothing memorable. - 1 Dish: they will serve a steamed, grilled, or deep fried dish during this course. On our visit we got a chawanmushi, or steamed egg, which I typically love. However they had some tough overcooked proteins at the base of this chawanmushi which I didn't appreciate. - Sushi: 10 pieces of nigiri sushi. Very subpar quality. We were both especially disappointed in the toro. Most tuna belly melts in your mouth but this one was tough and chewy. I can get equal or better quality sushi for significantly less at my local sushi spots. - Miso Soup: Had a clam in it, that was on the tough and chewy side, probably overcooked. Strange after-taste. - Pickles: What pickles?? I'm looking back at my reservation to help guide me through my review and I didn't get any pickles. - Dessert: Black sesame dessert that was probably a sad excuse for a panna cotta. It was grainy and awful consistent. You can see the separation when you spoon into it. I usually love kaiseki meals because I appreciate the seasonal quality ingredients and I don't mind paying premium pricing for QUALITY. But I don't feel the quality in the ingredients here. Service was also really unpersonal. They bring you your food, set it down, walk away. I don't feel like a special or valued customer. I left a note on our reservation we were there for a celebration and there was no acknowledgement what so ever. I wasn't hungry when we left or anything but I wasn't satisfied. We ended up walking to another part of the downtown area for tacos afterwards.

Eigikutei is a very authentic & traditional feeling sushi & shabu restaurant with a nice bar inside. It has very clean & modern wooden Japanese aesthetics. All the staff here speaks Japanese & wears yukatas as their uniform. We booked a shabu tasting that features the a5 yonezawa beef and added some sashimi courses to the beginning on valentines weekend, which was surprisingly not very busy for Saturday. The appetizers were simple, but the miso yuzu jellyfish was a stand out. The shrimp ball was also delicious. I appreciated the A5 Wagyu from yonezawa, which has a milder and slightly sweeter & delicate taste compared to Miyazaki. The marbling and consistency of the meat was perfection. The waitress also comes to scoop out meat fats that float to the top (not sure why, but it's interesting). The sashimi courses were a bit of a letdown, with slimier textures of the sweet shrimp and a bit fishiness with the tuna, but I guess it is off season...which I would expect different type of fish if that's the reason. Most of the tasting is very simple and safe Japanese style cooking like the chawanmushi. Unfortunately, I make that better at home. For me, I think this was a cool one time experience.

Great service! We came for DineLA $85 wagyu dinner. Food was fresh and nicely presented, with each new course explained. We thought we wouldn't be full but the meal ended with some porridge and dessert that definitely filled us up. We also ordered some sushi a la cart as well.

Hubby and I came here for Christmas lunch. We passed by this place a few times and was intrigued that they service Kaiseki style Japanese food. Kaiseki is a traditional Japanese multi-course meal with a series of small intricate meals Using seasonal ingredients and simple seasoning for aesthetic and balancing of flavors. Having dined at N/Naka I was really interested in trying a more affordable dining experience. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. It blends in with the rest of the block and you would never know what to expect until you walk in. The atmosphere is very serene and minimalistic. There is a strong earthly vibe with natural wood colored dining tables and aesthetics. Each table is spaced apart from the other tables rather than crammed together. I really enjoyed the service. It was the traditional Japanese cultured mannerism and professionalism I received in high end restaurants. They are very attentive and polite. The menu features a variety of choices that includes Kaiseki and choice of sushi, shabu shabu, etc. We chose the Tsuki combination $106 pp (a very good deal) - Kaiseki and seafood shabu shabu. The meal on 12/25/2024: Appetizer: Monkfish liver, spinach parsnip and sesame, and scallop with vegetables. Very flavorful and high quality ingredients. This was the best monkfish liver I've ever had. Soup: Fish dumpling soup. Was refreshing and light. Chiwanmushi- was delicious and had ikura! Sashimi - yellowtail, halibut and sweet shrimp. The quality of the fish was so fresh and tasty. There wasn't a fishy taste at all. Shabu - When the plate of the ingredients came out, I almost fainted due to the generous portions. It was a lot of food prepared! I really enjoyed that the crab was pre-cracked making it easier to eat. The shabu broth was so flavorful that we didn't need any dipping sauces. The meat and veggies soaked up the delicious broth and it was very tasty on its own. And if you didn't get enough food .... there was a filler coming up.Porridge rice - the porridge is made from the shabu broth and it is super delicious! We unfortunately could not finish so we asked for the porridge to go, after I had a few bites. Lastly, to finish off our meal.....Hoji pudding - chestnut pudding with red bean. The texture of the pudding was creamy and full of chestnut flavor. Overall, this was an amazing meal and for such a good price. Highly recommend it yelpers!Tabemashou!

I finally got a chance to check this place out, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect. It's tucked away in Little Tokyo with a pretty low-key entrance, but once you step inside, the space is super nice--definitely fancier than I expected. This spot focuses on omakase and kaiseki meals, which are set menus featuring seasonal ingredients. Since it was my first time here, I couldn't decide between sushi or shabu shabu, so we ended up doing both. Both sets came with a great variety of dishes like sashimi, cold sides, chawanmushi, and more. For the shabu shabu, I went with the American Wagyu since I didn't want something overly fatty. It was super tender and flavorful, and I really liked how they used the leftover broth to make porridge--it was a nice touch. The sushi was on point, too. Every piece was fresh and delicate, with the toro literally melting in my mouth. The meal wrapped up with a matcha mousse that was light and not overly sweet--a perfect way to end.The service here is on another level. They explain every dish before serving and are quick to clear plates as you finish. While it's definitely on the $$$$ side, I think it's worth it. I left surprisingly full and felt like I got to try a little bit of everything. This spot is perfect for celebrating something special, and I'd definitely come back.

We came here for DineLA week, and were excited to try the Shabu Shabu kaiseki menu. The last time I experienced Kaiseki was in a ryokan in Kyoto many many years ago. My husband and I are used to eating a LOT of hot pot (both Chinese and Japanese) in the SGV so we were already spoiled by lots of variety in broth flavors, ingredients, and quality meats at affordable prices. By comparison, this shabu shabu experience was more minimalistic and also way more expensive than what we were used to, so we questioned if this is something we would do again. However, after we finished the shabu course, they surprised us with a large bowl of delicious rice porridge made from the shabu broth! The sashimi plate, appetizers and hoji-cha mousse for dessert was really good too, and two hours later we were definitely stuffed. So I guess I would say that "the whole is better than the sum of its parts" and if we return to Eigikutei, it will be for more than the shabu alone.

First time here on Valentine's Day. Sitting at the restaurant still as I'm writing this review. Made a reservation at 1:45pm, arrived and got seated. Parking is hard to find so it's best to park in the structures and walk around little Tokyo afterwards. Can get your ticket validated if you spend $10 at the little mall or pay $15 as you exit the structure. Once my party got seated, there was no communication with any of the servers for a good 20-25 minutes. Water wasn't provided until a server finally approached our table and mind you this is during lunch hour where it wasn't busy. Would have to say the service was bad here. Had questions about the menu and the server couldn't provide us any explanation to our questions. We went ahead and ordered the prime beef ribeye kaede (x2), the American wagyu take (x1), and also ordered the 1pc (x3) sushi on the side. We got started off with 4 small courses, the main dish, and ended with dessert. First course that came out was a 3 set appetizer, it was jellyfish (crunchy and citrusy tasting, was alright), seaweed (okay), and abalone (enjoyable). Second course was a single shrimp ball with soup. It was alright. Third course was the chawanmushi with ikura (steamed egg w/ fish eggs or roe). It was also okay, could have done it without the roe. It didn't really go together. Forth course was the sashimi (Bluefin, sweet shrimp, and Amber Jack). This was the best course. Taste very fresh and definitely made up for the toro sushi pcs we ordered. Sushi Pcs, we ordered the toro. I read the pricing wrong I thought it was $4 but came out to $10 each. The taste of the toro was kinda fishy and a bit sinewy. Main course was the shabu. Very disappointed when everything came out. Everyone has to share one pot (we don't mind but others might not like this idea). Disappointed in the veggie plate, wasn't enough for 3 ppl. The broth was the most disappointing because it tasted like water no flavor profile. We asked the server what flavor was the broth and she answered I don't know.. at this point my party is very frustrated. Lack of service, questions can't be answered, and they don't even know what flavor the broth is or what's in it?! We weren't going to settle for the plain broth so we had to asked to speak to someone else who can help us switch it to a different broth. Luckily the man who sat us down was nice enough to switch our broth to sukiyaki. And wow, what a huge difference because the sukiyaki really saved our main course. Dessert for last was just okay. Overall our experience was okay. The goods and services provided did not reflect the price point. Would we be returning again? Probably not.

Had a nice dinner here for Valentine's Day. The food quality was top notch, which for the price point $160Pp, it should be! We opted for the sushi kaiseki with the extra course (irodori). The extra courses $30 pp were a two bite size piece of grilled black cod, and two bites of eel tempura. Honestly, I don't think it was worth the $30 to add.. so would skip next time The courses all were nicely timed, and great. Maybe the dessert was a fail (a matcha custard with a half unripe strawberry). It was "fine" but lack luster with an off putting brownish green color We sat at the sushi bar, but wished we had just sat at a table. Typically you sit at the sushi bar to have a bit more interactive experience. This was not the case. We were one of the first reservations, so we were sat at the edge, next to the server station. When we were seated.. the sushi chef didn't acknowledge us at all.. we were the only ones seated. And we're just awkwardly ignored for 5 or 10 mins. No irashaimase..hello or anything. She was busy prepping sashmi courses for the restaurant. The waitress did come by after about 10Mins to take our drink order. All the food was good. The non sushi courses were reactively small. We left satisfied, but didn't really feel generosity in the servings. The first course was great. A medley of little things. Once the sushi started, I really had no idea what most things were. The sushi chef spoke so softly, you couldn't hear what she was saying. Still. Everything was good The only really negative thing for the dinner (minus one star) was that the servers were constantly ordering courses for their tables fromOur sushi chef from over our shoulder . Directly behind us. It really was super annoying. I would suggest a later reservation so your not sat in the first two seats, as we were the ones on the line of fire .. or skip the sushi bar all together as it didn't add anything to the experience Recommended , better than some places that were more expensive. Repeat visit... maybe
