A few years ago I worked with a bunch of construction guys and they raved about this place. One even gave me a gift card for here. And after a few years of letting the gift card collect dust in my wallet, I was fortunate to be on that side of town around lunch time.I usually get the turkey or the tuna. Both are amazing. I want to venture out and try more of their sandwiches but I am a creature of habit. The sandwiches are delicious! I now understand the hype. I've tried their potato salad and it wasn't the best in my opinion. The lines get long around lunch time and it's only street parking so beware. I've called in my order while standing outside because the line was pretty long.

What I Ordered:-#7 Roast Beef & Pastrami with Cheese & Peppers & Tomato Sauce $17.20Eastside Italian Deli is one of those hidden gems in Chinatown. It has been open since 1929. It was well worth the visit to come here. I use to work with a retired LAPD officer and he recommended this place and few others. All his recommendations have been spot on! Thanks Rudy! I heard that they are known for a few different kinds of sandwiches such as the DA special, but I was told that it has a lot of meat and was recommended the #7 by one of their employees. The #7 is comprised of Roast Beef & Pastrami with Cheese & Peppers & Tomato Sauce. It costs $17.20 plus tax. Delizioso! The hot sub is drenched in tomato sauce. Don't eat this when wearing white or if you don't want to get messy. It was so worth it to get my hands covered in tomato sauce and I would gladly do it all over again.I'm looking forward to coming back and trying The Bear Special and The DA Special. I highly recommend coming here and seeing for yourself.

Great food and service. They quickly take your order and within minutes they call your number. Shareable portions for most of their sandwiches. They are busy during lunch time as many people from the court house come here to eat.

A must try institution in LA. Their famous hot Italian sausage and meatball sub is delicious. The bread of the sub is perfection. Food comes out very quickly. There's a hot pepper serve yourself station. Yummy cannoli.

Eastside Italian Deli in Downtown LA serves no joke, the best Italian sandwich in the city. Great value for the price with generous portions and delicious flavors, including a nice touch of sweetness. The ambiance is typical of a deli, but the tables could use a cleaning. They could also offer more chip and beverage options. The staff is friendly, and the food is served quickly. A solid choice for a tasty, filling sandwich!I'll be coming back to try something else.

My son & I needed to try the Lasagna. It was totally worth the drive.. only available Tuesday's & Thursday's until sold out! He decided it was his turn at a #7. The hot roast beef, pastrami, provolone, tomato sauce & peppers! He devoured it barely saying a word until he finished. Once again this very old Italian deli delivered amazing food! I hope you will be here when my great grand kids can try it!

Est. 1929-An historical Italian deli serving the heart of Los Angeles. For decades, Eastside Deli has been an institution. When you walk through the door, you can feel an old-school East Side vibe, (Chicago, New York, New Jersey, etc). Everything is cooked fresh daily (they don't own a freezer), and all the sandwiches are massive. I ordered the Eastside Special, formally known as the DA. Roast beef, pastrami, sausage and meatball with cheese and peppers, served hot. I got it to go, so they separate the bread from the fixings, to keep the bread from getting soggy. The roast beef and pastrami are well cooked and very tender. The meatball and sausage are nicely seasoned and the tomato sauce ties it all together - Excellent! I also order the Spicy Italian Sub (Salami, Cappicolla, Mortadella, Ham, and Provolone Cheese Mayo, Mustard, Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Oregano, Black Pepper, and Italian Hot Mix). This is quite possibly, the best Italian Sub I've ever had . . . true story. The usual crowd are regulars and everyone seems to know, each other. The service is helpful, but if you're a regular, it's extra friendly. Also, they don't add any ridiculous fees to the bill. Eastside really is special, and there are so many good things here, it will take many visits to taste it all. Next time back, I'm going to try the #7, and of course, I've got to get another Spicy Italian Sub!!!

Nestled just outside Chinatown, this hidden gem is a must-visit for sandwich enthusiasts. From the moment you step in, the service stands out; warm, attentive, and impressively quick. The staff eagerly recommended their Roast Beef, Pastrami, Peppers, and Cheese Hot Sub, and it did not disappoint. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, tender, juicy meat perfectly complemented by the slight crunch of peppers and the gooey, melted cheese. The sandwich was generously packed, leaving no room for disappointment. The cozy yet bustling ambiance added to the charm, making it a fantastic spot to grab a satisfying meal. Whether you're in the neighborhood or just passing through, this place is well worth a visit!
