D's Original Take Out Grill

So glad my gf and I found this gem! The food is fresh and most definitely comforting to the soul! The ribs for my gf and I were the star of the show! Perfectly cooked, and tasted like we ate at a cook out! The mac n cheese and baked beans are good as well! The only thing I can admit needs improvement is the Candied Yams. My preference for yams is sweet, and their yams have a unique taste im not a big fan of, other than that, the plate is delightful and a pretty good price as well. The service was great, If im not mistaken the place is ran by a woman, and she helped me out. She was patient and helpful! The inside of the place is very small and intimate, not a place I would preferably eat inside but if you're a party of two, it is suitable. Overall, our experience eating here was amazing! The food is great, service is good and we have already been back a second time, and we wont stop coming here! So if you're ever in the area, dont hesitate to stop by and give it a try! Also, they accept ebt!

I was in need of some BBQ food and was recommended this place by my daughter. I ordered the beef ribs and they were full of flavor. Not as tender as I like, but still delicious. I forgot to take pics because I dug into the meal before the bones were cleaned.

I've lived in Los Angeles off and on for the past 10 years. I love soul food but haven't found a place that I LOVED until now!!! WOW! I ordered the wings, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and the greens.... It was perfectly seasoned and so fresh. I couldn't stop eating! 10/10 is my score and I'm super picky as you can see in my history of reviews. Great job to the owner and the team at D's!!! I will be back and will order more this time.... I had the rest for breakfast

This would be my second soul food spot i have tried. I fell in love with phillips bbq, but unfortunately, it's a further distance to where i live, so i goggled the nearest soul food from me, and this place came out.Area: located near western and 79th. Was kinda hard to find it at first. Located between a barbershop and hair salon.Parking: Due to being on a main street parking is sometimes hard to find and wouldn't recommend to park in front because its a bus stop. Might get a ticket.Diner: As soon as you enter the place, it is a small location with a food display on the right and board menu with only 2 tables available to sit. Feels very small inside, so I would recommend getting food to go. Service: When we entered, we were greeted nicely and were directed to the menu and on how we order plates. They also informed us on their weekly specials, which is located next to the register.Food: We ended ordering 3 mix plates 2 with ribs, brisket, and mac n cheese with baked beans and one kid plate with fried wings and rice and beans. All came with corn bread. The star of the show was the ribs 8/10 and wings. 10/10. Unfortunately, the brisket was hard to chew. Felt like reheated brisket. The cornbread was the worst cornbread i have ever had. As soon as you touch it, it crumbled in my hand. No flavor at all. The mac n chesse was good 8/10 beans where ok 6/10. Price: prices were decent less pricer than phillips, that's for sure. We ended up paying around 50 in total for everything. The only downfall was that they do not take cash. Good thing i had a card.As i mentioned, this is the second time i try soul food and will not be my last, and i am basing my opinion on the only 2 places I've been. I would definitely recommend avoiding the cornbread.

Delicious homemade food in an efficient takeout storefront. Had the greens, red beans and rice as side. Super yummy. Such a nice owner, too.

Food is good They never have chopped chicken idk why it's even on the menu. They never have Hassan's sodas anymore . The EBT never work . The greeter / host the person that takes the order is a lot and last time I came in he smelled like alcohol / liquor very much unprofessional. Not what they used to be

This place has the most amazing food from the sides to the entrees,and the hibiscus punch is delicious! The restaurant is clean and well appointed. And the owners are the best, they make you feel welcome from the moment you step into the space. They have parking in the back, street parking is tight. I highly recommend giving this place a try and putting it into your regular rotation.

Wow I've been in Cali for 8+ years could never find good bbq. I'm originally from the Midwest and they hv tons of good bbq options. This is the first time I found Excellent food that taste like back home. Even the sides were bomb! I had rib tips, greens and Mac. The meat was tender, well seasoned, and the sauce super flavorful. Best bbq I've had in LA, and it was less than 12 min from me smh. Will def be back!
