The minute I walked in I noticed how clean and orderly the restaurant was. This is in a fairly busy section of downtown. The space with bright and cheerful. The person behind the counter was very friendly and happy to offer assistance/recommendations. I had the patties and they were as good as anything I had in Jamaica. Highly recommend this place.

Got the stewed chicken ($18) and was really blown away with how tender the chicken was! Great flavor, a little heat but not unpleasantly spicy, and really got to showcase the chicken. Took me back to living in Central America. The rice and beans were really really well made too (with smaller black beans, definitely rice-forward but with the stew worked great). Plantain was fantastic. There was a little salad with raw peppers and onion on it that was just... warm lettuce with peppers. Without that, would have been perfect.Space is small but nice, and service was quick and friendly.

Okay, LOVE this place. Great selection, super affordable, great serving size, and worth a visit! The food was made right when I ordered it, so not only was it hot and fresh, it felt like a family friend cooked for me. One of THE BEST breakfast burritos I've ever had. Idk what is in their sauce but it's delicious! You gotta try it!

Unless you know to go here, you will miss it. I found it by sheer coincidence as I was looking for a coffee place for morning coffee; something, somewhere other than a Starbuck's or Peet's. We had the breakfast croissant sandwich (which was absolutely delightful) and a cup of coffee. Everything is fresh. Next time I'm going for some of their fresh baked pastries including their macarons. Yelp check in gets you a cookie. And that cookie is dog gone GOOD

If you're on the hunt for a local gem that blends the cozy charm of a bakery with the vibrant kick of Jamaican cuisine, look no further than Dreads Caribbean Cuisine. This spot, once just an old bakery, has had a glow-up and is now serving up some serious island vibes right here in the neighborhood. We recently dived into their Jamaican jerk patties and beef patties, and let me tell you, our taste buds were throwing a party! The beef patty, with its eye-popping yellow crust, was as delicious as it was photogenic. The pastry was flaky perfection, and the beef inside was seasoned to the hilt--so tender and full of flavor that we almost considered ordering a second round (okay, who are we kidding, we totally did). And then there's the Jamaican jerk patty. Talk about a flavor fiesta! The pastry was light and crisp, giving way to a spiced filling that had just the right amount of heat to make things interesting. It's clear that Dreads Caribbean Cuisine knows their way around a spice rack. But wait, there's more! Their menu is packed with goodies like Jerk Chicken Wings and Fried Chicken Wings, served up daily. We also spotted some drool-worthy options like Curried Chicken, Oxtail, Honey Glazed Salmon, Pepper Shrimp, and the classic Jerk Chicken. Each dish comes with your choice of rice and peas or plain rice, plus a side of fried plantains or tossed vegetables. Decisions, decisions! The place itself is a cozy little oasis with bright, vibrant signage that just makes you feel happy. The display case filled with freshly baked goodies like blueberry scones and other pastries only adds to the charm. It's the kind of place where you want to linger, savor your food, and maybe sneak a second pastry (we won't tell). And if you need a refreshing drink to wash down all that deliciousness, they've got a juice bar that hits the spot. Plus, their hours are super flexible--open from 7 AM to 7 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 7 PM on Sundays--so you can get your fix whenever the craving strikes. So, if you're in the neighborhood and looking for something delicious and fun, swing by Dreads Caribbean Cuisine. Your taste buds will be dancing, and you'll leave with a big smile on your face. Let's keep this local treasure buzzing with our love and support!

Came in this morning for coffee and an early lunch. Holy cow...the oxtail here is delicious. My husband and I are foodies and we thoroughly enjoyed this. The service was also great. I came in 1.5 hrs earlier than when lunch is usually served but the owner got me hooked up in no time. I'm super appreciative. Will definitely be back!

Sierra is super kind and welcoming! We love visiting Dreads Cafe for the jerk chicken pies and delicious coffees. The place is dog friendly, so feel free to bring your dog and sit outside on the patio in the shade.

I haven't been here for a while, but it has nothing to do with the Scandinavian origins. The pastries look tired and run-of-the-mill. There was nothing Danish as the name of the establishment might suggest. I see no reason to come here for the one, sad cold case of pastries.I have no idea how the Danish notion of "Hygge" aligns with the Caribbean food also sold in the same establishment. Maybe the cultures and sentiments align on some level, but it just feels like two small businesses needed a space, but couldn't afford it individually. When I walked in the only employee was busy browsing her phone. She didn't look up at any point while I stood at the counter, nor as I walked out again. This place needs to give up.

Based off my one cherry pastry and medium coffee, this place is a warm hug of butter, sugar, and freshness. The name totally fits.
