Just saw that this place became AYCE awhile back and had to come here to try it out. It's your AYCE shabu shabu witha self-serve sauce bar and unique steam stacker for meats. It has plenty of seating compared to it's Irvine counterpart. Love the design of the restaurant, practical yet elegant.I ordered from their A list Menu, as I only wanted Shabu Shabu. I loved the Galbi-Eye steam stacker and as for Shabu Shabu, I got the Spicy Tonkotsu and the brisket. It was pretty cool to see there ramen bar setup. The staff was friendly and the waiter kept checking in on us to see if we needed more meat or anything else, I greatly appreciated that. I will definitely be back here.

I love shabu shabu.I wanted to discover a new place today so my wife and I went to dPot, 3rd Fl, Source mall Buena Park.We got there at opening time, 11:30. We were the first customers.I like to eat the AYCE style shabu shabu super fresh right at opening time. Not too spacious, decent, well presented all the seafoods, veggies, noodles, sauces, and plates. We chose the lunch special menu, $25.99 and original soju as a drink. My wife chose 3 side dishes, ddeokbokki, fried chicken, and fried spicy pork belly. And beef broth, spicy broth to start our shabu shabu. The pot is small, your own pot. No need to share someone. Great! The beef chuck tender and chuck roll were super thin like almost see thru thin. I never had such thin beefs for shabu shabu. But tender, way better tasty after I dipped the beefs in the sesame sauce. Side dishes, I did like the chicken and pork belly buy not the watery ddeokbokki for us.I liked the beef broth a lot but my wife didn't like spicy broth. She said, she will order beef not spicy broth next time.Overall, the quality and price are good. Not included dessert drinks or water kimchi combined porridge at the end of meal. They have only rice, porridge, remember bar. I couldn't find the rice noodles options.Ummmm...I can't find lotus roots either.Ambiance: 4 starsMenu: lunch special $25.99, Menu A shabu w steam stacker $35.99Menu B Shabu, k BBQ, w steam stacker, dumplingsJapanese Sake is really expensive here. No idea!I had a great experience today.Wishing they add bone broth. Give more flavors the more you cook....Price, quality: 4 starsService: 3 starsParking: so spacious in the parking structure

Still raining a lot all day long, I chose the new shabu shabu restaurant called dPot, Source mall.My husband and I love shabu shabu including porridge at the end of meal.We knew this spot in the Source mall but passed many times in the past but today we decided to try here on the heavy rainy day. They opened at 11:30 for lunch. We were the first customers and sat at the decent table. I already went over the Yelp reviews and odered the beef broth for my hubby, spicy broth for me.First, I liked my own pot instead of sharing one big pot w someone, a half pot.Second, Ramen bar was unique.I had 3 side dishes which were ddeokbokki, fried chicken, spicy fried pork belly. I got dissapointed about ddekbokki, so watery, no flavor....I don't recommend to order it.Spicy fried pork belly was good. Chewy, sweet and little spicy flavor. Fried chicken was good, crunchy. For shabu shabu, I made a big mistake to order spicy broth. Too spicy! The more you cook, the broth got salty, spicier, and worse. The beef was so thin like see thru. The veggies are fresh but something missing compared to our fave shabu shabu restaurant. They have specially Ramen bar, I can choose any Ramens and enjoy at the end of meal. Why I can't find real rice noodles???For the sauce options, great choices....sesame sauce, soy based sauce, and something more at the sauce bar.Overall, we really enjoyed the hot shabu shabu especially on the rainy day.I wish they have hot Sake, korean traditional water kimchi to cool down, and include the menu, Korean dessert drinks.Well, the restaurant was packed around 12:30. It might be the good location to hang out inside the mall.Price: lunch special 11:30 to 3:00, $25.99Quality: fresh, 4 stars, Some ingredients are missing, quail eggs, Japanese kamaboku, lotus roots, fried Tofu, a variety of rice noodles.Service: not really friendly to us.Parking: they have a huge parking structure. Spacious!!!

First things first, location. There is a parking structure you turn right into on beach boulevard. Park anywhere and the spot is located on the 3rd floor. This place was pretty cool to try out. My wife and mom always like shabu but my mom's fiancé wanted something grilled. Menu was $34.99 for AYCE shabu shabu and steamer stacker and $44.99 for adding the KBBQ. The inside is clean and lots of space. It was pretty interesting to see how many people they can fit in a smaller spot. The service is pretty mediocre. Not rude but also not super attentive. Typical of an AYCE spot. The food is decent but not a ton of variety of meat. My personal favorites was the lamb, beef tongue, and the kimchi dumplings. Good for a basic selection but wished there was more variety.

The AYCE that nails down the quality and quantity. Most AYCE places offer cheaper meat and ingredients, but this place has it all! Located on the 3F of the Source next to all the restaurants up there. There was quite a bit of a wait for our party of 6, but we were called in earlier than expected. We were seated in a booth and service was quite efficient. We were a bit confused how to order since it was our first time here. We have tried another dPot in Irvine, but it seemed like they changed their concept here or in this location. Which we got our split broth bowls, and we had a steam basket for the table. First, the broth was very flavorful! I chose the Tonkotsu broth and it was indeed very rich. The meat cuts that we often got was the Brisket, Galbi Eye, and the Chuck Top Blade. The lamb was also a nice cut as well! I enjoyed the brisket more with the broth since it wasn't too fatty. Also, for the steam basket, we ordered brisket and galbi eye, both were so good! This one I enjoyed the galbi eye more since we ate it with the spring green onions. It goes soooo well together. The unlimited side bar, they also had a variety for selection. Not as a variety as a buffet style, but at least all the ingredients that had there tasted nice quality. The veggies were also all fresh. The sauce bar had a good variety as well. Many sauces I haven't really tried before, so I got to try their sesame(?) sauce, which was really good! Overall, everything here was really good that I haven't became this extremely full in so long. For the value of 35.99 and quality of this AYCE joint, it is very well worth it.

The restaurant changed from the first time we came here. It's now AYCE, we both got menu B with the shabu, steamed foods, and kbbq. They had side options as well. At first we were seated at a small table for two people, but since we got menu B, we were switched to a bigger table that had more table stoves. We sat in front of the doors and it was a bit cold.It wasn't as busy when we arrived, then dinner rush hour came by and the place was packed and people were waiting to be seated. Self serve was the veggies and proteins, packets of ramen, and sauce. There was also seafood, most of the crustaceans. I was so happy about the quail eggs! So to the self serve area are all near the kitchen area. So left was veggies+protein, middle instant Ramen/noodle packets, and right side are the sauces and cookwares. A bit chaotic to get through as many people and servers need to pass by. We agreed that we missed the old version of Dpot where they had the different tiers of shabu ingredients. Regardless, it was nice to see change overtime. We had a server who explained and help us and then someone else came to help us and we asked for recommendation of kkbq meat choices. And house manger I assume also helped us cook the kbbq. The place looked nice and there's also patio area in the front, but we decided to sit inside because night time was very cold.

Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Ambiance: 4/5If you love ayce hotpot, this is the place for you. Located inside the Source mall, dPot is a Korean shabu place with a myriad of options for high quality beef, seafood, veggies, and carbs. There is a whole section on just noodles. On top of the ayce selection, we got an add-on which was the steamed beef where you eat it wrapped with spicy green onions. I really liked the service and we both particularly enjoyed the porridge they make for you at the end. It's honestly better tasting than dessert. Would definitely come back if only I lived closer!

I brought my family to try this place out 11/23/24 Saturday night. It was not great that they do not do Yelp waitlist via the APP. You have to physically check in, in person. The estimated time of wait was 124 minutes of the screen but the text confirmation said to speak with a staff for accurate wait time (what the heck is the point of checking in then)? I spoke to a staff member and he said 40mins wait. Great, we walked back to the car to charge since it was freezing out. Good news was, it only took about 16mins and I received the text to go back. I checked it at the podium with staff member and was seated a few minutes later. Our initial server just did not seem to care much about us being there. I had to ask how things worked since it was our first time. He reluctantly explained how it all went. Entire table needs to order off the same menu etc. he had my kids stand up and maybe an invisible measurement to the side wall molding and told me they would be charged kids price. Told us the 8 items limit since it was 2 orders per person charge. We ordered 2 pork belly, 4 galbi eye, 2 brisket. It all came in a tower and nothing was explained as to which meat was what. My husband has a real issue with this since the server just drops and goes like shabuya. It caused him to be quite anxious the first round. As we moved forward, we just ordered two meats at a time so we can identify it differently. Another announce was, unless it was the empty black plastic meat trays, the server did not offer to take any of the dirty dishes away. It was already squished with 4 people. Meats. Sides and drinks, and this laziness of not offering to clear the dishes just made it worse. The same thing happened with the drink refills and needing to flag down the server to order for meat items. Not a happy camper in regards to service throughout the dinner meal until Jonathan came to help towards the end. He was friendly, smiled and took away my dirty dishes that had been sitting for 15-20mins so I can eat my fruit. He also refilled our drinks without me having to ask. I greatly appreciated this. In conclusion in bullet point form:Pros- decent meat quality- lots of options for food bar- fruits- steam pot option is fun for first timers or those looking to eat healthier -non kbbq option priced fairly with other shabu places ($118+ for two adults and two kids)Cons- service is lacking- table space was too small for 4 people (they should have sat us at a bigger table)- sauce line backs up and the place is already cramped - dirty dish retrieval is barely present Would I return? Nah, there are other places with better service. True, I wouldn't get a steam pot option. However, the service and meat would still be top notch.
