Tucked in this inconspicuous neighborhood, I really love this place! The street is pretty quiet with mostly business buildings around. Across the way is where the unique building that Michelin-starred, Vespertine, is at. We love coming here to grab a coffee and walk around. The last time we were here in the summer, something was being filmed across at Freddi's China closet. I wonder what it was!All the employees there are nice ( & you might want to go a little earlier to avoid waiting in a long line) You line up to order and they'll give you a number and you'll find your own open table. Note they only have outside seating, but it's actually really nice because the neighborhood is so quiet and the lighting outside makes for good food pictures! We ordered the avocado confit and the duck confit on ciabatta. At first we were hesitant on ordering the duck sandwich, but I am so glad we did. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had!! Super flavorful and creamy with the spread. The avocado confit was just as nice. It was nice and light, and didn't feel too heavy with the duck sandwich. They had a new drink (seasonal?) on the menu: ube and lavender latter and it was sooo pretty and good too!Looking forward to many more visits here!

You order inside and sit at one of the many tables outside. There's is a lot of parking available on the street.Food is a little pricey, but you can tell with the presentation and fresh ingredients. My fav was the chicken schnitzel and the loaded avocado confit (bread was soo good).Would definitely come back!

Destroyer in Culver City is a masterclass in modern, minimalist dining, where every dish is a testament to precision, creativity, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. From the moment you step inside, the stark, almost meditative atmosphere sets the stage for an experience that is as much about art as it is about food. The space is stripped of distractions, allowing the dishes to take center stage--a deliberate choice that underscores the philosophy behind the restaurant. The menu is a study in balance, showcasing seasonal ingredients in compositions that are both visually stunning and thoughtfully restrained. The fermented grain porridge is a prime example of this approach--earthy, complex, and deeply satisfying, it redefines what a humble grain dish can be. The potato dish with brown butter and raw milk curd is another standout, offering layers of richness without feeling overwhelming. Every bite is a precise interplay of flavor and texture, demonstrating a level of craftsmanship rarely found in casual daytime dining.Service at Destroyer is as polished as the food--efficient yet unobtrusive, with a deep understanding of the menu that enhances the experience without overshadowing it. The staff's quiet confidence reflects the ethos of the restaurant: meticulous, intentional, and effortlessly refined.Destroyer isn't a place for hurried meals or passive dining--it demands your attention in the best way possible. The dishes challenge expectations while remaining deeply satisfying, making it a must-visit for those who appreciate food as an art form. Whether you're seeking inspiration or simply an exceptional meal, Destroyer delivers an experience that lingers long after the last bite.

(as of October 2024)I've been wanting to try this place for months and finally had the opportunity while in the area. I ordered the loaded avocado confit and the sweet corn porridge, both of which were 10/10. The ingredients are high quality and fresh, and many of the menu offerings avoid the whole processed-meat, extra additives, and extraneous chemicals to make the food either taste better or look better. You are definitely getting what your pay for. The spot is designed with a minimal touch, with neutral colors and a small interior mostly for ordering and taking to-go.

Destroyer is chef Jordan Kahn's take on a cafe. The place is good looking like all of chef Kahn's establishments but this is his most casual spot he has in Los Angeles. There's plenty of street parking and there's seating outside. We went for breakfast and the food is very very tasty so highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Highly Recommend: Rose Latte Chocolate Chip Cookie Persimmon French Toast Courgette And Fresh Cheese Tart Can't wait to go back to try some of the other items on the menu.

destroyer reminds of food in the hunger games, as silly as it sounds (esp the sourdough in the persimmon french toast) - they def have neutral grey bare bones brutalist vibes going on here as the name suggests. interestingly enough, the creamy beef tartare was more like tuna to me but twas very delicious! to me, some of the individual ingredients wouldn't taste that great alone but the harmony of the creamy tartare, quinoa, vinegary chips and tarragon worked well. service was nice and pretty prompt, felt like the schnitzel could use some sort of dipping sauce and more flavor. i'd return to try some more hunger games styled food as an avid hg fan. unmetered street parking was easy on sunday afternoon!

As first timers we had the rice porridge with roasted leeks, caramelized broccoli, burnt onion, puffed rice, black garlic and the Tangerine French toast with kumquat, papaya jam, nutmeg, whipped crème fraîche, and vanilla maple syrup. The French toast was a must!

Small, quaint, minimalist, one of its kind breakfast & lunch spot in the back streets of Culver City. Was recommended by my friend and colleague (shout out to Sasha) and boy am I glad I took her advice. The aesthetic is chic, minimalist and sophisticated with simple black & white color palettes presenting their delicacies in a magazine perfect showcase. One would expect that a pretty face would lack character right? Well not only were the dishes picture perfect but the flavor was spectacular. Appreciate healthy ingredients with simple flavoring allowing us to truly taste each element of masterpiece. We ordered the a couple of the following dishes:1. Koshihikari Rice Porridge: reminds me of the abalone rice congee/porridge my grandmother made for me growing up when I was sick at home. Pre soaked white rice stirred slowly in a pot over time until the rice softens into a thick porridge. Seasoning is added including simple salt and abalone to give mild flavor. In this case they added diced leeks broccoli, and black garlic topped with burnt onions. Wow chef's kiss. Definitely a must order. Wish they served more rice congee/porridge in other breakfast spots. 2. Loaded Avocado Confit: presented similar to a açaí protein bowl & poke bowl except with various topping that you can add layer by layer onto your sourdough bread (only three slices with each meal and definitely not enough). The bowl came with smoked prosciutto, Burrata, half avocado, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and poached egg (latter added). Delicious! Also a must order.3. Osmanthus Oolong Tea: served on what I would call a large tear shaped decanter. So unique and like artwork.Overall phenomenal experience. Would like to go back and try the other dishes soon. One downfall is the long lines. But definitely worth waiting in line for.

I've been to Destroyer twice now and loved it. I had to go twice to try everything I wanted on their menu before writing a review~!Their black sesame latte is so tasty with that caffeine boost me and my fellow coffee addicts need in the morning. They also offer some of the fanciest brunch dishes in a casual environment. you order at the register, get a number, then can grab one of the many outdoor tables to wait for your goods. It's so chill, great ambiance and the staff is so~ friendly! The loaded avocado confit is packed full of fresh flavors with cherry tomatoes, a couple slices of smoked prosciutto, a small dollop of burrata, a runny egg, arugula, and an interesting puffed rice addition, all served with a side of chewy bread. Loved this dish, it felt 'clean' while eating and would absolutely get it again.Destroyer's Sweet Corn Porridge is another banger you'll love because of it's indulgent nature, creamy couscous, poached egg, squash blossoms, and brown butter, topped with a bit of crispy chicken skin and dashed with just a bit of chili for a really nice morning kick. Loved!Overall, I'm Destroyer's newest biggest fan and I'll def be back again!

I'm not usually a fan of experimental American cuisine, as I tend to prefer traditional, family-run restaurants. However, Destroyer really impresses and justifies its hefty price tag. They have a fantastic way of elevating the quality and flavors of everyday brunch dishes while curating a menu based on seasonal produce. We ordered the Market Persimmon Salad and Persimmon French Toast, both of which were excellent. However, the French toast was the real standout -- it was the best I've ever had. While indulgent French toast typically uses brioche bread, the bread here is surprisingly grainy, yet pillowy, soft, and rich on the inside, with a perfectly crispy exterior. The persimmon compote and yogurt paired fantastically; as a milk/white bread lover, I shockingly loved the contrast between a more rustic toast and more tart and fruity flavors. Must try!
