Dasom is the place to go when you just want some good soup for your soul. I've tried several things here and they have all been pretty tasty (my sis thinks is a tad bit too salty but to each their own). They give a good mix of 반찬 (side dishes), which are pretty tasty as well. I've eaten at the restaurant a handful of times and the service is great- everyone is friendly. There's enough room for a large party (like 6-8) but it's also a comfortable environment for solo diners. Their take out is also packed nicely with side dishes...so this is a good option if you want to eat in the comforts of your own home. Based on the pricing trend in the area these days, Dasom is reasonable.- Beef bone broth w/ beef (설렁탕)- my go to. Normally I add salt to my SLT at other restaurants but this one is flavorful/salted so you don't have to.- Seaweed soup aka birthday soup (미역국)- this restaurant is the only place that I've found that sells this soup. Some restaurants provide it as a side (like miso soup) but they have a full portion. Kids love this mixed with rice.- Braised Beef (소 갈비찜) - big portions of beef mixed with some veges in a soy-type sauce (my description sucks- sorry). Really yummy.- Bone Broth Beef Rice Cake And Dumpling Soup (떡만두국)- also another kids favorite. It's also customary to eat this during New Year's. It's rice cakes and dumplings in a bone broth.- Beef Bean Paste Stew (된장찌개)- I don't really care for bean paste but my sis says this is really good (and she's pretty picky).- Chicken ginger soup (삼게탕)- I don't really care for ginger as well but I know this is the soup you go for if you're sick. Chicken and ginger is a popular combo to help fight those nasty viruses. My friend recently had it and she said it really helped her feel better. There are many things I haven't tried off the menu but from the many dishes I've had, I don't think anything off the menu would be a bad choice. I think their "spicy" items are pretty spicy, so beware. They have a private lot that turns into a valet lot in the evenings. It's in a strip mall on Wilshire. There is also a parking lot north of the building but it might be hard to find anything. Street parking is also available, but keep in mind its gridlock zone on Wilshire from 4p-7p. For pick-ups in the evening, valet will let you park your car by their stand for a few minutes.

Decided to try this place for lunch. It's located in a strip mall on Wilton and Wilshire. Valet parking is available for $3 on Wilshire. When arriving, the restaurant was packed so we figured it would be delicious. When we sat down, we waited almost 10 minutes with no server. After flagging someone down, we finally ordered. The lunch rush had even died down shortly after we got seated. We decided to try their army stew. After waiting another 40 minutes, we asked the server where our food was. They had explained that there was a large to-go order, hence the delay. I wouldn't have really minded, but not giving us a heads up was one strike. After getting the food, the color of the stew seemed really off. Upon noticing a lot, and I mean a lot of mushrooms, I was really confused as army stew normally doesn't have mushrooms. Putting this aside for now, I decided to try the broth. This was the most flavorless army stew I have ever tried. After waiting and having to eat this bland stew, it really was a disappointing experience. I probably think their other stews must be somewhat decent based on the lunch rush I saw. However, from their terrible service to the bland food, I don't think I'd consider coming back here to even retry their other dishes.

Had a very satisfying dinner of comforting Korean food. This menu favors soups, so ordering at least one is a must. Three of us shared one beef rib soup and grilled beef short rib patties. But the star of our dinner was the Braised Pork Belly Bean Paste & Marinated Raw Oyster. Rolling up the oysters after dipping the pork belly in bean sauce with cabbage and herbs was so delicious and balanced. Also all the banchan is top flavors. Mostly everyone in the restaurant spoke Korean, so having a speaker would make it easiest. There's a wait list to sign in to. The lot turns into valet parking, so pay attention to the times.

This place is really good and a great price for how much you get as well. The water is barely tea, but I'm sure you can ask for normal water if you want. I had the red beef bone soup. Very filling and delicious. I will say though, be careful of the tiny bone shards. Their banchan is super good. I really enjoyed their kimchi. The quail eggs were great. The dried squid was really good. Like none of their sides were a miss for me. They all hit!Bathroom isn't the cleanest, probably like a 6/10. Parking has a guy in the lot that makes you pay $3. Overall, would definitely come back again.

Usually I come to Koreatown solely for Korean BBQ, but I made it a point to try some traditional Korean food for once. Trusted in my friend to pick a good spot for that. And that's how we ended up at Dasom!Since it was just two of us, we shared a Braised Short Rib which was essentially pre-cooked hot pot. The menu said this was enough for 2 to 3 people and they were not kidding! There was plenty of short rib in the soup, so much so that I had actually wished we had three people because I was way too full after eating this. Also came with noodles and a heaping of vegetables. Definitely felt like a balanced meal! I also enjoyed the banchan, especially the very fresh kimchi and small boiled eggs. Service here is good. Not too many people in here, but they made sure everyone got attention.Parking here is valet for $4. Pretty much standard fare in Koreatown.Really enjoyed Dasom. Definitely want to come back to try some other things on the menu.

[edit] will have to try the oxtail next time then!!!====4.5/5 because banchan was a teensy lacking + needed more dumplings in my dumpling rice cake soup$41ish for two dishes and lots of leftoversPretty poppin' for a Saturday morning! Also smelled great *___*Special dumpling rice cake soupIs soooo good even with no hangover. I do wish there was more dumplings instead of the 3-4? That were in my bowl, but in terms of flavor, it was delish! The rice cakes soak up the broth so hurry and eat!Wagyu oxtailWoah this is super flavorful. But also little to no meat lol lots of fat/skin/tendon that was cooked wonderfully. This needs to be paired with a pickle of some sort , the banchan really helped. I'd get this dish if there's 3+ people eating! The medium spice def packs a punch and I enjoyed eating this with something sweet at home to offset the spice.Banchan Quail eggs and fish cake were our fav! There was also omelette and sausage slices so that's cool.Super solid place for Korean food at good prices. Some dishes aren't ginormous compared to other spots, but the flavor and quality is really there.

This is my new favorite spot for traditional Korean food. As a Korean, I usually look for more traditional meals versus the bbq because no one eats that at home lol. What I first noticed about this place was the big open space and how clean it was. I was also impressed by all the items on the menu. My friend and I split the braised short rib that came in the hot pot. There was plenty of beef in there and the soup base was delicious. I was impressed by the fresh kimchi as well, along with some other side dishes. Next time I come back I want to try the army stew, which looks pretty popular. I have a feeling this place will blow up and will have a long wait out the door next time I'm back. The only major con about this place is that the parking is horrendous, even for valet. But then again where is it NOT bad in K-town?

I ordered soups to go, and even one portion was more than enough, it lasted me two days. The soups were absolutely delicious, offering comfort and warmth, perfect for a cold day. The restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so I was glad I opted for takeout. The soups stayed hot for a long time. One small suggestion: please include a fork with to-go orders. Parking was convenient, with designated spaces for pick-up orders, and I noticed they also offer valet parking.

This place is the perfect spot for comforting Korean food. I've been to Chef Kang's other restaurant Haneum and enjoyed it so I knew Dasom had to be good too.I got their popular bone broth ugly beef rib soup and it was so delicious. The broth is so warm and comforting and I basically finished all of it and it was so filling.

For the price and portion sizes, this spot is a hidden gem in Ktown LA--a must-visit for anyone who loves hearty, comforting meals! Dason by Chef Kang had been on my friend's list for a while, so we finally decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, and we were seated right away. We'd already scoped out the menu, so ordering was easy--we went straight for their popular bone broth ugly beef rib soup. One thing that stood out immediately was the variety of sides they serve, including pickled radish, quail eggs, and other tasty bites. It really added to the experience and felt uniquely Korean. When the soup arrived, it reminded me of galbi tang--and it tasted just as comforting! The broth was bold and peppery, packed with flavor, and the beef was so tender it practically slid off the bone. Considering the quality and portion sizes, I'd definitely come back. If you're in Ktown and craving something hearty and delicious, this place should be on your list!
