Nice ambience! 5/5Food is okay the skewer just like reguler skewer no sauce no flavor so I would say 2/5 service is okay 4/5Also if you can't read Korean, good luck checking your bill.

Food and service was excellent! Came here because my friend said there was a good deal on skewers. Next time, I'd skip the skewers and go straight into the appies and entrees. You'll get a lot more food for a reasonable price. The skewers were still delish though, just note you have to buy a drink for the dollar skewers deal.Ambiance is great, dim lighting but not too dim & writing all over the walls gives the place a fun vibe. Good to take friends pre or post a night out.

Dan Sung San is a place I've heard about since I moved to LA. The vibes, food, and service was solid all around. The pricing was awesome for what you're getting (which is great Korea dishes). The walls had a street vibe but in very cool wall. This a perfect date spot but the wait time can build up but if you're comfortable with your date enough to wait, worth it. The pork belly and spicy chicken were sublime. From the barley water to the final bite, excellent. For more context, I went on a Thursday night. The crowd is cool and street parking is limiting. However, there are paid parking lots around. I was told it's only visa and Mastercard when it comes to cards.

Still weary of the skewer menu only being accessible through buying a beer, but the food here doesn't miss. The boiled pork belly was the perfect item to order as it came with lettuce wraps, kimchi, and ssamjang we got to pair with the rest of our skewers. The servers are on top of everything and food came out fast. Really can't beat the vibes of this place, make sure you try the Bacon Asparagus and Pork Belly skewers!

One of the super popular late night spots of ktown, I have been here multiple times usually with friends. The wait time at night is super long so getting here either before 6 or after 8 is ideal. My go to is usually vienna sausage skewers, chicken skewers, beef skewers, beef short rib skewers, mushroom skewer, shisamo skewer, and clam soup. My favorite out of all of the skewers is the short rib skewers. I have tried most things on the menu and they are all pretty good. I'm not too big of a fan of their soups because they are a bit heaty even without spice. Overall, food is great and not too expensive in terms of ktown prices. Parking inside the plaza is validated but so congested that you will have to find parking elsewhere 99% of the time. My rating is 4/5 with the breakdown: the food and cost 5/5, -2 for location and parking, and then a +1 just for the vibes if you're going with friends.

Love coming here for some late night Korean food. It is always busy, but the food is always delicious. Initially discovered this place because of an Instagram reel, and even though we live an hour away, totally worth the drive for the food. They start you off with a bowl of their soup - has a kick to it but oh-so delicious. Their skewers are so tasty and affordable, you could easily end up sitting there just eating skewer after skewer. Their pork belly skewer and mushroom skewer are two of my favorites, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. And at anywhere from $1.99-3.99/skewer, you're golden.Grab their lunch box - has like a kimchi rice inside w/ egg. Shake it all up before you start eating. Bonus points if you add some of the skewer to it. Their seafood pancake is MASSIVE, flavorful, and always a great pick. Good for sharing. They also have some good drink options. We shared one of their Fruit So-Ju's last time, and it was more than enough to go between the three of us.As I said, it's always busy. You'll probably have to wait a bit for a table. Servers are usually running around so it might take a minute to get your drinks and food. But it's what you'd expect at a popular, busy restaurant.Parking can be a bit rough. Usually end up finding street parking within a couple blocks of the restaurant.Delicious Korean food and definitely recommend trying it for yourself. Come solo or with a group of friends - either way, the food will be great.

I wish my stomach was bigger so I could eat more. Get there early if you want to avoid the long wait, but when we showed up at 4:30pm there was no line. By 5:00pm the parking lot began to fill with people waiting outside. Everything I ordered I enjoyed. The seafood pancake also surprised me with how delish it was. Can't go wrong with any of the skewers and the wings were even good reheated as leftovers. Definitely coming back. Not pictured: soju pitchers

The food here is very flavorful and was exactly what we were wanting after a concert! However, the customer service and atmosphere confused us and made it a less enjoyable diner. Parking lot is valet only so park on the street - at least thats what it was on a Saturday night. When we got there we walked in and there was a couple ahead of us, but when we opened the door the server told us "get out and wait" and made us wait outside. It was hard to hear him with how loud it was inside so I didn't hear it the first time, but definitely the 2nd time when he shouted. We waited maybe 5 mins and then was let in to our table which was shared with another couple. The first thing we noticed was the table was sticky, walls were sticky, and man that grunge hole in the wall lighting is kind of a pain lol. We were at times squinting at the menu to really read everything when the light hit right. As a lot of people have mentioned skewers can only be purchased if you buy alcohol and its not gonna be a cheap bottle of soju to unlock the skewer menu. We were fine because we wanted a good amount of food to devour before we headed back down to home. I think the waiter thought I would speak in Korean to him but then when I spoke in only English he seemed less interested in helping us if that makes sense. I say this because he never came to check back on us and then forced us to sit back down instead of paying up front. Food was just the thing we were dreaming of after being on our feet for 2 hours. A nice hot kimchi pancake, gyoza, and some tteokbokki! We finished almost everything and we took our time. The place was packed and very loud with a lot of the tables being groups. In the middle is a bar like setup around the sides and aisles which was cool. They really were using every nook and cranny in there. When we were ready to pay it was impossible to wave literally anyone down. After a few failed attempts we stood up and started to walk toward the register when our original waiter came to us and said to sit down and brought us the check. We were confused because everyone else was lining up to pay at the front. We again waited for him to bring our card back for a bit. it was pretty frustrating how long it took just for us to be able to leave the place. overall, the food was great authentic tasting korean food but I wouldn't put this high on my return list.

Very definition of hole-in-the-wall. Has that grungy, late-night, dive bar appeal but with delicious Korean food. You can only get the skewers if you buy a drink, but the drinks are cheap and the skewers are even cheaper. Pork belly skewer is my favorite. Their lunch box goes well with everything.Well worth the price.

We saw this restaurant on IG and decided to come by for a weeknight date night to try something new. Dan Sung Sa is located in a plaza in K-Town with a paid valet parking lot that's shared with a few other Korean restaurants and a karaoke bar. The place has a cool theme, as we saw online with grungy graffiti wooden walls, and servers dressed in Military uniforms. Our servers kept changing as they didn't seem to be assigned but everyone sharing all of the tables. The first thing we were notified was that the $2-5 skewers could only be purchased if you buy an alcoholic drink, which was unfortunate for us since we don't drink and were excited to try some of those out. We ended up ordering a beef bulgogi and glass noodle plate, pork belly with salad, and corn cheese coming out to about $50. The water came out in a teapot, and weirdly it was yellow, and yes it was water... The service was hit or miss as the food came quickly but we ended waiting over 20 minutes after eating for our check to arrive. The food was pretty good, but the bulgogi had jalapeño peppers in it, I've never seen that before so it was pretty spicy. Not sure if they meant to use bell pepper but chose jalapeños instead? The pork belly and corn cheese had good flavor too. Overall it was the yellow water, service, and alcohol rules that bummed us out. It was a cool experience but probably just a one time thing.
