Iconic! 5 plus- be extra careful after your 3rd MaiTai. Start with the garlic bread and house salad. Then get the petite filet. Your server will be a nice veteran and efficient. It's a cool old Tiki room with a fish tank classic. Cool spot.

Ambiance is nice! Total Tiki vibes for sure lol, it's what you would expect, that's for sure! You get delicious garlic bread.I got the salad which was really good with the ranch they make. For my entree, I ordered the special, the Hanger steak. O m g delicious!! The steak was cooked to perfection (med rare) tasty, juicy, and not tough at all. The plate came with roasted garlic, a few mushrooms and bone marrow. For the side I chose the dbl baked potato Delicious!! Servers wore the best tiki shirts and were very on top of us in all best ways. Very great service!! The company all in itself was the best!

My husband is originally from LA and every time we visit his family, we make Damon's our place for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It has always been great, the atmosphere is cozy, and we particularly love their drinks, house salad and the filet. However, this time was a far cry from the Damon's we know and love, and frankly, very disappointing. It was my husband's birthday, so we made a reservation for 6 at 7:45p after his brother's soccer game. His game ran a bit late, so we called to let them know we were still on our way and got there at 8:05pm. They were very busy, however, it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to greet us at our table. The server assistant finally came over to offer us waters. We asked who our waiter was, and he pointed us to Ruben and said that they had someone call out.Ruben finally showed up and took our order. We were willing to look past the initial wait/lack of acknowledgment from the staff, especially as both my husband and MIL have spent several years in the food industry and could sympathize. We really never complain when we eat out, even when it's not great. However, this is when it continued to go downhill. My BIL ordered a mac n cheese that showed up with no cheese. No exaggeration - it was noodles and bread crumbs. The garlic cheese bread was burnt to a crisp. And my husband's prime rib was cold as ice. We grabbed Ruben and showed him. Instead of just apologizing and making it right, we got every excuse in the book. He told my husband since his steak was ordered medium rare, it is supposed to be cold. I've never had a cold prime rib in my life, even when it was rare. He told my brother in law that's just "how the mac n cheese is," even though the entire reason he ordered it was because he saw someone else's and it was doused in cheese sauce. Suddenly, Ruben came back with what actually looked like mac n cheese and reheated my husband's steak. Then, unfortunately, my BIL cut into his steak and found a long, dark curly hair that (not to be graphic) acted like literal floss in between his teeth. You would think we would get an apology for that, but instead we were told "the entire kitchen is bald" and the steak was remade. 30 min later we got a new steak and Ruben brought out a slice of cake for my husband's birthday. At this point, my MIL asked to speak to a manager, and instead we had the host??? (not sure her actual position but not the GM) come over to our table to apologize and give us a ~half~ order of the burnt bread to go. And my husband's cake slice was comped...because it was his birthday and we didn't order it.Nothing was taken off our bill, not even the steak with the hair in it, and the half order of bread to go was honestly just insulting. We left a place we used to love with a bad taste in our mouths. My MIL called the next day because we honestly wanted to give Damon's the benefit of the doubt and the chance to make it right. More about the principle than anything else after spending over $300 and still tipping 20%. The first woman (I think the same host from that night) told my MIL that we had to wait because we didn't get there until 8:30. I have a text and parking ticket that showed we were there at 8:05 (after we had called). However, we waited until about 8:30 to be acknowledged or get drinks. Then finally she got ahold of the GM who said that he was aware of situation but didn't come over to our table last night because he was headed out. Ok. Then after explaining our bad experience, she was told that he would "hope that we could look past this one bad experience" since we've had good experiences in the past. More excuses. He said he was "under the impression" that the steak with the hair was comped by his staff and said he would call back. 2 hours later, he finally calls back to say that their policy is that they can't comp any food if it is refired since costs are high have a nice day. Not sure why it took a call back if youre the GM and that was your policy all along? I've been in customer service for years myself, and the disregard is just honestly appalling

A restaurant like an old friend. Steak is still delicious. Papaya salad is not special. I still love this place.

So many restaurants to choose from in Brand!! Glendale has so many good options to choose from but since this is a Glendale staple, decided to give it a try. The outside looks super deceiving, as if the building was closed so you have to just walk in. Once you walk in, it's crazy's how huge it is! The restaurant has been in business since 1937 and the service is amazing! You have to walk all the way inside towards the back to get seated which I think is awkward but either way was seated promptly. The monthly special was new so we had new food items to choose from. They have a great variety of food items to pick from.

My husband and I came here for our annual Christmas Eve dinner date tradition. We both love historic places and tiki themes, so I was excited to try Damon's despite hearing that it was dated and not at all trendy. It's been around since 1937! When we walked in, it looked like Santa Claus and all of his reindeer threw up all over the restaurant.... totally decked out in all of the lights and cheesiest holiday decor just like I hoped for! The restaurant had lost our reservation and had been having a similar issue with other diners, but still sat us without any problem. We shared calamari and garlic bread, my husband ordered a steak with a twice-baked potato, and I ordered the mahi mahi with creamed corn. My fish was a little dry and overcooked, but the steak was fantastic.... why do I always order non-steak items at a steakhouse and regret it? He definitely ordered better than I did, and I look forward to coming back for a steak of my own. Specialty drinks are the chi chi and the mai tai (which tasted almost identical and seemed to be the same drink but orange juice vs pineapple). They were the kind of drinks that didn't taste alcoholic but would probably sneak up on you. They also have a decent wine and beer list... not too many options, but some well-known labels and very reasonable prices. A server tossed our side salads next to our table, and it ended up being a delightful salad with beets and a tangy dressing. When we were boxing up our leftovers to go, he came back and said that he noticed that we enjoyed our salads and asked if we would like some to go, for free. He explained that he really liked the way the salads turned out tonight and liked to see people enjoying it, so he boxed up a few to-go salads with dressing on the side. So nice!We had a really nice time here, and the bill was much, much lower than we expected for a steakhouse and how much we ordered. I'd love to come back and hang out at the bar!

Came here after a show at the nocturnal theater. Had some drinks and order a prime rib. Service was great. Prime rib came out great. It was loud in the restaurant but not over powering. Wife had a an issue with the coconut shrimp. She found 4/5 of the shrimp that were not cleaned. When we found one, we let the staff know more for a quality assurance side of it. When my wife found more, she was done eating and we let the staff know. The manager agree that it was unacceptable and made it right. They let us know that they come breaded already and he was going to reach out to their supplier and fix the issue. We have no complaints on how it was handled. Overall a great experience. Perfectly cooked meat. Delicious drinks. Great staff. Will come here again!

We LOVE Damon's. My husband found it through a Google search when we were on a weekend getaway to LA. We fell in love with the decor, the service, and the food. We haven been in a bit (since COVID) and have heard they've remodeled. Hopefully we'll get back soon. A little vintage, but that's what we love most about it.

The Mai Tais are fantastic! I didn't like the Rose Gimlet as much. They don't skimp on the coconut on the coconut shrimp which is great. Famous French bread is decent with good skiing of garlic, although not the best I've ever had. As many reviews mention, parking is a nightmare. My friend ended up sneaking into the Bank of America lot since we went at dinner and they're closed then, but park at your own risk! The staff are also all so friendly, from the hostesses to the bartenders. And we had gone on Valentine's Day, a day that's probably crazy busy and stressful for them. The decor has this sort of kitschy suburbs type vibe that we enjoyed. Love the seashell chandelier in the dining room and string lights at the bar.

We used to have more places like Damon's in the Bay Area. Dang I miss dive bar+steakhouse combos. As a denizen of the dark, I often frequented such places. Steaks looked good. Caesar Salad with blackened chicken - you know I detest chicken - is great except stale croutons. Huge pour of Malbec by the surliest bartender in 2025. But he let me taste a few then poured a massive glass. And get this: $7.50! If I wasn't so tired, I'd have another. No, I don't care about his real name. Surly to me. Surly with a blessed heavy hand. Doing the good work. I kinda wanna come back here for dinner, but I'll see what Chris is thinking. Chris has more refined tastes. Check Damon's out. -- workingmans gourmand
