Coco always always hitssssss. It's so fragrant when we walk in, and the curry meets the expectations. Went most recently on a Friday night an hour before closing, and there was no wait at all. Easy to find street parking but they also have their own private lot that they validate (it's small tho).Food:I like the chicken cutlet more than the pork; it's not as fatty and you get more bang for your buck (I feel like the pork is thinner and has an aftertaste). Omelet is also yummy. SO and I typically order the following: Curry Rice$9.39- Small- subtract $0.50 (this is more than enough rice for me)- Level 4 $0.80 (enjoyable spice, I think one step up would be a bit too much)- Tuna Cutlet $5.50 (a new item as of a few months ago; it's not fishy and it's actually quite nice!)for SO: 1 Curry Rice$9.39- Medium- Level 3$0.60- Pork Cutlet$5.05- Vegetable$2.80- 1 Garlic Naan $3 (garlicky goodness to dip into the curry)Service can be a little slow, but everyone is nice. The side pickled radish is a must and helps cut the spice as well as reset the palette. We'd come here more often if it was closer but we crave this place like every month lol

The Baseline: For Japanese curry the sauce must have body with spice/flavor, the meats must be prepared well, the add ons must be good, and the environment must be welcoming.Food: The curry I had was good and tasty. The fried chicken was crisp and hot, mixed well with the curry sauce. The vegetable add ons were well prepared as well but were pretty standard. I enjoyed the spice level and only went to a 2 which was a good level. It can go level 20 on spice which I will put on my avoid at all costs list.Service: The food was delivered to the table quickly and the staff was friendly. My water glass was filled consistently.Ambiance: This was a nice clean place with good decor.

Super clean and new. They even have their own parking lot. I ordered my usual curry with spinach. However at this location they didn't have the garlic rice and minced meat. It was just spinach and curry and rice. Tastes ok. Hubby enjoyed his curry. Everyone else in our party thought their curry was a ok as well.

We ordered takeout from the Sawtelle Coco Ichibanya location. The food was prepared quickly and packaged really nicely. The interior of the restaurant was also very clean and modern. We ordered the omelette curry with chicken cutlet. The curry portion was a bit small, but the chicken cutlet, rice, and egg were all substantial. Everything was delicious, especially with the little pickled vegetable on the side. Almost $20 for this meal so definitely pricey as far as curry spots go, but certainly will not stop me from coming back!

Solid spot for Japanese curry! I came on a Friday night, and although there was a small wait, it wasn't too bad. The restaurant has high ceilings and nice decor, but it did get quite loud and a bit overwhelming at times. The food, however, was satisfying and very filling. They offer plenty of ways to customize your curry, but be mindful that the extras can add up. You can adjust the rice portion, choose your spice level (up to 20), and add a variety of toppings like mushrooms, cheese, or extra protein.I ordered the fried chicken omelet curry with level 4 spice. The chicken was crispy, and the curry had a nice kick, but I wish the chicken pieces were juicier. We also tried the thin-sliced beef curry, but the portion of beef was a little disappointing. Additionally, we requested level 5 spice for this one, but they accidentally made it a level 9--and wow, was it spicy! If you're into spice challenges, experimenting with their spice levels can be a fun adventure.Overall, a great spot for customizable and hearty Japanese curry dishes!

Classic spot! Popular chain - parking is street parking. There are meters and also residential. Be careful of permitted parking.Regarding seating, you can sit inside and outside. There is a patio for the outside. Ordering food is quick and the food comes out quickly. If you haven't ordered here before, you can select the type of dish and choose the spiciness level (a higher level will add costs).Big fan of the curry katsu! Can't go wrong with it

Back again to Coco Ichibanya because the curry is so good! This time the service was quick in taking our order and delivering to our table within a reasonable amount of time. It took a while to get the check because most tables were full, but the service is improving overall. The quality of my meal was consistent and delicious. Oh and they now have parking in the back because Sawtelle is so crazy busy all the time! Get a receipt to show the attendant.

I really love this place!! It's been my go-to place for Curry brunch for most of this year. And I know that's the case for a lot of people, too, because most of the time, the place is crowded on weekends with lots of people (seated outside and inside) and there's a wait for a seat, but it's always worth the wait!I always get some variation of the Curry Omelet. I've had it with beef stew and veggies, shredded beef, veggies, chicken katsu, etc. The curry is so flavorful and it goes with everything. I've also ordered the naan, which is a great addition. They also have a huge Thai iced tea (it's really good!) and other delicious drinks. If you don't want to brave the weekend wait, you can get the omelet to go now.Parking is mostly on the street.

We came here for lunch right as they opened. The parking structure is located right behind the restaurant and has free parking. This location is very clean, spacious and organized. We were seated right away. I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry with regular rice and regular spice level with a Thai Milk Tea to drink. We got our drinks first and my Thai Milk Tea was tasty and creamy. We didn't have to wait long for our meal. My pork was pretty fatty with a good crispy coating. The curry spice level was perfect, not too spicy but flavorful. My rice was a little on the mushy side, but still acceptable. Overall service here was quick and we had a delicious lunch.
