Chubby Curry

Love the decor and very friendly atmosphere! The food was absolutely delicious. We had the chicken katsu and tofu curry. The chicken was tendery and perfectly cooked. Jose was a great host and took good care of us! 10/10

Came for a large dinner gathering and luckily they were able to accommodate us. I arrived at 4:50pm to put a name down for a table for 10. They quoted me 20-30 minutes but it ended up taking a whole hour. Luckily everyone arrived around 5:40pm so we didn't have to wait long. I ordered their cold tofu, salmon, and unagi hand roll. All were delicious! They have a gender neutral restroom that's spacious and clean. Parking is street parking only, but there's a community parking lot in the back. Service is quick and friendly and you can order everything on their ipad.

Too pricey for a curry place Food is not bad We spent over $125 for 3 people I believe that's not worth for Japanese curry

A fantastic place to have a date. Food was good and the service was great. It's downtown Covina. The ambiance was great. We have the tonkotsu curry and chicken curry. Amazing dishes. The fries were also spectacular

Finally got to try this place! It's located at downtown Covina, and we were able to find parking on the streets across the place. It was easy to order through the iPad on the table and the food came out fairly quick.The yuzu cocktail was refreshing and citrusy.Hand rolls were simple and pretty good, with crispy nori.I tried the Wagyu beef curry which had tender meat along with flavorful curry.. kind of more of the Chinese darker ones than Japanese creamy curries. This curry was a different type than the tonkatsu ones they had too, included beef chucks and potatoes.Overall it was very good and worth the hype!

I came here to try their curry wagyu steak rice plate and my girlfriend had the tonkatsu curry. It wasn't too long to get seated and they have a yelp waitlist which makes it easy. Bar seating was comfortable. Food came out relatively quickly.Curry was just ok. The wagyu beef in the curry didn't taste like anything special - just some chuck steak. The sliced steak wasn't anything special either but looked good. Poached egg was good. Ultimately it's a pretty plate but nothing too special. Their curry wasn't particularly flavorful , and it won't bring you back to your travels to Japan. I think at this price point, I wouldn't be back since $30 should be some mind blowing curry

My friend and I came here on a Sunday for lunch and were seated properly. We ordered a Wagyu dumpling for our appetizer, a tonkatsu curry, and the sliced wagyu curry. The Wagyu dumplings weren't spectacular, but had a decent beefy flavor to it. The tonkatsu was lightly breaded and very fluffy which I enjoyed. The sliced Wagyu curry was the star of the show. The Wagyu was very tender and packed a nice aromatic flavor to it. Overall, it's a nice addition to the Chubby Cattle family and I enjoyed my experience here.

I was pretty let down by this place. All the other Chubby locations (chubby cattle, Niku X, mikiya) are spectacular but I was pretty let down by Chubby curry.I visited this new location with my mom and I was very excited for the curry. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and got seated right away. My mom got the 3 piece hand roll set for DineLA and I got the Wagyu tofu curry. The food came out in all the wrong order which contributes to my poor rating. My mom got her hand rolls served immediately, then we got our miso soups then the appetizers came and then my curry came but about 15 mins after. I wish they would've served the appetizers and soups together then the entrees together.My mom loved her sushi. The salmon was fresh and tasty. She loved her shrimp tempura roll the most! I was not as big of a fan of my curry. I love Japanese curry especially the deep rich flavor coupled with the usual umami. However, I felt like the curry here was a bit bitter and lacked the umami flavor I'm used to. I much prefer Coco Ichibanya curry as it had a richer and deeper flavor. Chubby curry feels like it's too light and not cooked long enough to be rich.

The restaurant was clean and had nice decor. Jose the host was kind and friendly. The server was very attentive as well. And the curry was excellent
