I can't believe I have been sleeping on this place for all these years! I was introduced to this Tofu spot last year by my boyfriend. Now I love coming here more than other Tofu places that are closer to me!I love that the staff is super friendly, welcoming and attentive! They are usually open from 10am-2am and there is plenty of parking as they are part of a strip mall. My boyfriend and I usually do a Tofu Soup Combo and add another food item.Last night we got a Beef Soup (White) with Beef Bulgogi. We also paired it with a Seafood Pancake. They start you out with a small salad, and then bring out the banchan that comes along with your combo. Even thought it was starting to get busy, our food came out quick! Everything tasted great and the servers came by checking in on us to see we needed refills of our banchan. We left with filled bellies and ready to come back on a cold night. Thank you for the hospitality!

Honestly, this is the best soondubu (tofu soup) in California that I've had. I've tried many tofu places in Southern California, including the well-known spot that everyone talks about (which I won't mention here).I ordered my usual seafood tofu soup (mild). The soup base is noticeably thicker and richer in flavor compared to other places. The portion of ingredients--tofu, seafood, and more--is generous, unlike some places that only give baby portions (like one or two pieces). Brought my friend here today which is his first time here and he agrees this place is the best.Their side dishes are also plentiful and delicious. I personally love the cucumber kimchi and seasoned squid.I also ordered the stone-grilled galbi, and the meat was juicy and well-seasoned. Galbi and tofu soup is always the best combo:)The ambience is cozy with a traditional Korean-style interior, which enhances the dining experience. The wait time was around 30 minutes, which wasn't too bad.The only downside was the service--our waitress never stopped by to check on us. Also, a small piece of meat ended up in my seafood tofu soup. I let it slide since I'm not allergic, but the chefs should be more cautious, as this could be a serious issue for someone with dietary restrictions or allergies.Overall, Chodang has the best soondubu in California!

I came for the sundubu because it's my favorite but I left loving the galbitang maybe even more.Soft tofu soup will always hold a place in my heart for being one of my top comfort foods. I'm pretty basic so I ordered the beef soft tofu soup and galbi combo. The galbi was shared with the table and was cooked perfectly with a great charred flavor. The soup was also perfect with a good ratio of meat and tofu. They also have unique flavors like mala but it got rid of the traditional Korean soup base flavor too much so it wasn't my favorite. The galbitang is a must if you're not in the mood for sundubu. The glass noodles were chewy and the meat was pretty fall-off-the-bone tender. The bulgogi in the japchae is also tender and marinated well so it's a good sharing plate.Cho Dang is a great place to come with a group since they have plenty of seating and the food comes out relatively quickly. There were only two workers on the floor and they worked efficiently for how busy it was.

Nothing feels better and more satisfying than a hot stone pot of tofu soup (especially as it gets colder). ChoDang has become a favorite for us after moving to OC for the consistent high quality meals and delicious banchan. This time around, I eas really surprised by the mala tofu soup! Flavors were amazing and perfectly spicy and numbing. I love it especially when food comes out sizzling hot! Reminds me of home and is always a good sign. 100% coming back. What we ordered:- Mala Tofu Soup + LA Galbi Combo - Bulgogi Bibimbap- Seafood Pancake

When the weather's chilly, there's nothing better than a warm, comforting bowl of sundubu! Cho Dang is the go-to place for that hot, delicious, and smooth tofu soup. Love that they have many options whether you're in the mood for big beef short ribs or a spicy kick with mala. They've got some great specials too, where you can add on bulgogi, galbi, or even bibimbap to your meal.

I've been here twice already and it's my boyfriends family's favorite Korean resturaunt. They start out with the freshly made delicious banchans (side dishes) that include bean sprouts, potato salad, fish cake strips, kimchi, and cucumbers! My favorite would have to be potato salad, very creamy and sweet. Kimchi could have had more fermented flavors. I chose mushrooms tofu soup that had tons of tofu, seemed like there was just one type of mushroom (thought there would be a variety of mushroom). Mild spicy was perfect spiceness level for someone who doesn't have a high spice tolerance. I asked for hot tea and they gave us Barley tea. Fried fish on the side was also delicious. And the rice! Such good quality, seemed like fresh crop. You could ask for more banchans if you want:) very clean and nice interior

My favorite place to get Korean tofu soup! I've been going here ever since I was little and recently they remodeled. The interior looks nice and clean. The food doesn't take too long to come out and service is quick as well. My go to order is the kimchi tofu soup with the Bulgolgi combo. It's one of my favorite comfort meals. You definitely get a lot for what you pay. I think it's worth especially with the side dishes. There is lots of parking which is great.

This place is definitely Korean comfort food! The flavors are so good! The restaurant is small and clean. The service is friendly and efficient. Plenty of parking to be had. Everything we had was delicious with authentic Korean flavors. I always love all the traditional Korean side dishes. They do not skimp and even have two small fish! So many places have removed that from the sides offered. They have lunch combos available M-F.

My friend recommended me this place. There isn't great soondubu in San Diego, but since I'm in this area, I am down to try. Small place but looks like it can hold a lot of people. You get a tiny house salad to start your meal. And don't get me started with the banchan! I've never seen so many side dishes for a tofu soup place! It came with the usual pickled stuff and fish cake.. BUT seaweed paper AND fried fish?! That's bomb!I got the Kimchi Tofu Soondubu, level spicy, and added mushrooms for an extra charge but I didn't mind. This soup was super flavorful! I love the punchiness of the kimchi. And adding that egg in is so satisfying when it drops into the soup. You can gauge how long you want it to be. I love eating it towards the end with the last bit of soup broth. Service was great and they are very speedy on the food.

I think they remodeled since the last time I was here (I don't live in the area anymore). It's brighter. Food was decent. Lots of side dishes as always. The only downside happened when we were about to pay and leave. We asked for boxes and the lady only gave me a box for my soup and a smaller one for the rice. My friend also needed a box. The lady looked annoyed when we asked for another box. Furthermore, I get how it's typical of restaurants to have the system where you can pay right at your table these days. However, it felt awkward when the lady stood there with the machine right when I started to pack the food (I had to stop packing up my food in order to pay) and essentially waited for me to select the tip option.Speaking of the tip options: beware! The suggested tip value on the machine is the percentage based off of the entire total including tax! I don't think that's conventional and can be quite misleading, especially for folks who might not be accustomed to calculating things themselves. This is more a comment on the system than the restaurant. I don't get why some restaurants' tip suggestion is calculated based off the total without the tax (e.g. Din Tai Fung) while others are based off the amount with tax included.
