This place opened recently and I finally got a chance to stop in. The decor is very colorful! They bring chips with bean dip and salsa to start, and both had a slight kick that I didn't expect, but they were quite good.I was warned that the shrimp Diabla would be quite spicy, but I've been testing my limits lately and gave it a shot... wooo that was a mistake, it's very hot! I asked the server if they had milk, and they did not, but he did give me a glass of horchata which helped.Overall, it was a nice experience with friendly servers, definitely recommended.

*3.5Okay okay okay!!... so there's finally a good Mexican spot in WEST HILLS!!This place is fairly new in the neighborhood!!Well first I would of thought it would be smaller from inside but is spacious and has a bar in the back , (which I think they should promote/advertise more)Food is delicious, with lots of actual authentic taste. Chips and dip are good and dangerous so don't eat to many before your order comes out lol We ordered the cheese Fundído and that was fire!!And of course the mocajete and this is a good shareable size and their carne asada is DELICIOUS, highly recommended!!! Service is not the greatest, but is also not the worst service , they're just inattentive, slow and very forgetful!!!Prices are reasonable so please don't complain about that !!Will definitely try it again and it is recommended from a Mexican!!

Wonderful meal at Catrina. Very pretty restaurant with plenty of room. The staff were lovely and very attentive. Constantly checked on us throughout the meal. The food was very flavorful we had the molcajete, seafood, ceviche, and hands down the best mole we have ever eaten. The chips and bean dip were a great start to the meal! Will definitely be back.

You can tell this is gonna be a new hangout spot on this side of the valley for sure. Tonight was the first time my mom and I tried it, and we liked it We really appreciated that the food wasn't overly salty or greasy (particularly the chips). Love that they brought bean dip with the salsa and chips Thanks for your attentive care, Carlos.Definitely checkout their grand opening event tomorrow, 8/24!

I'm feeling more a 3.5, but I will round up for this newly-opened, family-run business.A friend and I met for lunch right around noon and it was pretty dead. The service we had was very friendly and we started off with some chips, salsa, and bean dip. All were fine (though it's hard to compete with Los Toros' bean dip!). My friend ordered the Catrina Ceviche and I had to try the Chicken Mole, since Oaxaca is represented throughout the decor of the place! Both dishes were also fine; we weren't raving about them, but they were flavorful and decently-sized. Beer and wine served. The air conditioning was unable to keep up with the very hot conditions outside, so keep weather in mind when you choose to visit Catrina.

I stumbled across Catrina on Yelp this morning & we went for lunch. There were just a handful of people & we were seated right away. Our server came right over, took our drink order & returned with those plus warm crispy chips, salsa & delicious warm bean dip (which later she said also had chorizo, jalapeño & cheese). The salsa was so fresh & tasty with mild heat.We placed our appetizer order of esquite & guac. The serving of esquite was a large, piping hot bowl of creamy comfort. The corn wasn't charred but that would have bumped it up a notch. The guac was super fresh & yummy though I would have liked more salt. For our meal we ordered a lot & took most of it home.I got the the quesobirria taco a la carte & the 2 item combo with a crispy shredded beef taco & a chile rellano. The quesobarria taco was an ooey gooey flavor delight. I could eat those all day. The beef taco was ok but the chile relleno was fantastic. The rice & beans that came with the combo were a perfect accompaniment to the meal. I love to dip my chips in the beans then the rice. I ate the quesobarria taco & then managed a few bites of everything else before I had to throw in the "too full" towel.Despite that, I snacked on the leftovers throughout the day & still managed to save enough for lunch tomorrow. My husband got the quesobarria taco & chile relleno too plus the steak chimichanga which was huge. He also had plenty of leftovers. The price for the amount of food is reasonable, the service was friendly & attentive. We're so totally going back for the Molcajete!Oh and some people on here noted there was no or spotty a/c. It totally worked today.
