It sucks to have gone to a place of family legacy and experience what I did.....twice...................................................(edited) the Owner chose to challenge my credibility verses inquiring about my experience...So I added proof of purchase. Why not post an Image of the food you say? Why would I want to post let alone take an image of undercooked chicken wings that were served to me not once but twice. I was literally the only person there. Took so long for them to serve the order I went for a walk. ........starting to ring any bells Shaton?Finally got the food, sat and took a few bites of raw chicken. Informed them (the chef I presume) of the undercooked/raw chicken. Then was given another serving of chicken that was said to have been 'fresh off the grill'.....If an open faced Togo container full of grilled anything, especially a bone in protein in placed in the palm of my hand as it was in that moment and food doesn't go flying...its not hot. I could go on but the wise will get itLiterally went to an establishment down the street to get an eatable meal. Oh! should I talk about how Shaton played in my face when I asked her about the jerk marinade when i first walked in? Nothing like being a genuinely interested consumer and watching ones eyes roll in the back of their head like they have better things to do when asking about their product..... Let's not mention how I was hoping to get the fish and how I was told I would HAVE to order the whole fish if I wanted it....but only after she took a longggggg walk to the depths of what i want to safely presume was the freezer I could bet theres a MICROWAVE in that kitchen. Dont get me started on how my greens were served like a garnish....its not like theres a surg of authentic Caribbean establishments and I didn't do more than my best and obviously should have just asked for a refund....i take that back, I should have walked ou.....Like I said in a previous review, I Do Not Like Leaving bad reviews but im not the one in control of the experience being had which is the whole point one way or another when it comes to hospitality and food service. To think I actually had heart in my original review smh....$24.99 also lets me know that not only is the grade of rice cheap but someone has decided its best to lie and have it about them to NOT honor their family legacy better. true meaning of shame.

Caribbean Soul Kitchen is truly a gem and no lie EXCELLENT Jamaican food. Came here the first time with my son and tucked into some brown stew!! Fabulous!! De bes home cookin!! The service is also lovely. You'll be greeted with a smile and excellent courtesy. Don't miss this one!!

This place was bomb! I just tried it for the first time Friday. I got the oxtail bowl and everything I had was amazing. I wish you guys had a location in OC

I must say .. this family owned restaurant absolutely blew my mind!! The oxtails and jerk shrimp were my absolute favorite! And don't get me started with the flavors of their empanadas!! The beef will blow your mind!! I'm not much of a reviewer but let me tell ya .. !! I can't wait to come back !! I would give them 1,000 stars if I could !! P.s. make sure to get a pineapple ginger juice to wash it all down

....but first the flag! I have to say THANK YOU to the chef and his family for opening this restaurant. I'm a Cali girl with deep Panamanian roots and until recently only had authentic Panamanian food from my mom and Tia's. I appreciate ALL of the decor and the down home feel of the restaurant. My experience was generally a great one...the only thing I wanted was a real plate. Serving in plastic takes away from the experience and from the amazing food we are eating. I would have loved to have had it plated especially given the price point....i don't think it's too expensive....but I do think it could cover a plate. Tips: 1: Make a reservation. We had a group of 10 hungry Panas...and we almost didn't get a chance to dine. We didn't know this would be such a challenge. The dining area is extremely small so keep that in mind. 2: Pack patience. Your food is being made to order so some things will come quickly like fried yucca...patacones etc....but you will wait for those oxtails.I will be back!!!! I MUST bring my mom.Thanks again for bringing PTY to LA!!!!

Stumbled upon this place the other day when I happened to be in the area. No kidding, I suddenly got an overwhelming urge for oxtails. Did a Google search and it first directed me to an establishment that was closed at the time. Not one to give up, I Googled again and it led me here. Suffice it to say that THIS is the place I was meant to come to. I loved the warmth of the owners, the comfortable, homey feel of the place and the fact that they have outside seating. I met the chef (RJ), who is from Panama and has a unique and absolutely mouthwatering take on the oxtails. His beautiful wife offered me a sample and I was SOLD! I got two oxtail dinners for some displaced loved ones and a side of just oxtails for me. EVERYTHING was served with genuine love. The Mrs. (Mercedes) was so loving and kind that I was literally on the verge of tears just speaking with her. What a beautiful soul. The delightfully flavorful oxtails were fall-off-the-bone tender. Peas & rice, greens and plantain were absolutely delicious as well. This is not just a restaurant, it's a ministry that has been generous in its community endeavors. Not only do I recommend them, I HIGHLY recommend them!

I can no longer contain how I feel about this absolute gem! From the food to the ambiance, this place really fills the soul with love and good food. You can just tell RJ puts his heart and soul into these dishes and Mercedes is just the sweetest person. No matter what type of day you're having, the food and the love these two show you from the moment you walk in just brightens up your mood. A personal favorite is the jerk shrimp bowl and my partner loves the oxtail bowl. But you gotta try the plátanos, the empanadas, and their snapper! Not any of the food selections are a bad selection. Like I said before, you feel the love in every bite. Thank you to RJ and Mercedes for just being the absolute best and acknowledge their hard work and dedication to serve one of the best dishes I've ever had in the city of Los Angeles.

Came here and not only were they out of everything but they refused me a refund after selling me what had to be the nastiest empanada I have ever had curry chicken but it's ground turkey with peas n carrots still hard I'm so angry and was refused a refund and had to settle for a juice I did not want as an exchange horrible customer service she actually thought it was funny .

I've been here three times and last two times I place order with the a lady she was unprofessional, me and my coworkers we're giving gift cards to use at their place of business and when I used it, she questioned me as if I use one before and if I did, it shouldn't matter because they were gift cards giving to me and my coworkers. This particular time I went and she asked if I been here before which I have. She asked my name so she can write it on the gift card, as if I can't use another one which it shouldn't matter because they were gift cards giving to us for Christmas. And another incident was when my coworker tried calling to place an order. She told us we had to wait till 2 o'clock because they had a large order they were working on.

Run don't walk to the curry empanadas ! Nice service& delicious drinks too - the oxtail was also fire
