Camphor - Arts DistrictBeen here twice. First time at the bar--fine, but dining tables are the move for space. The restaurant smells great, service is solid, and the restroom is spotless.Food rundown:* Onion tartine - Must order. Incredible. (10/10)* Chicken - Life-changing. Best chicken of my life. (10/10)* Sea bream - Perfectly executed. (10/10)* Scallops - Good, not mind-blowing. (8/10)* Tartare - Solid, could use more excitement. (8/10)* Spinach - Well done. (8/10)* Burger - Unique but unnecessary. (7/10)* Bread - Standard. (7.5/10)* Bread pudding - Skip it. (5/10)* Kiwi dessert - Refreshing, light, tart, not too sweet. (9.5/10)Second visit, dining table was much better. Our server, Ornella, was EXCELLENT--warm, thoughtful, and made the night special. Complimentary wine pairings were a classy touch. Chicken was still incredible, even with the sauce change. Would return just for that.

My wife and I have been loyal patrons of Camphor for years--it's long been one of our favorite restaurants, a place we'd always turn to for special occasions. So naturally, we made a reservation three weeks in advance for our 11-year anniversary, booking a table for 9:15 pm to celebrate. Imagine our shock when, at 7 pm that evening, we got a text saying our reservation was canceled due to "unexpected problems." No warning, no explanation, just a cold cancellation. We tried calling to sort it out--multiple times, in fact--but no one picked up. Nothing. For a place we've loved and supported for so long, this was beyond disappointing; it felt like a slap in the face. How do you treat your guests this way, especially on such an important night? The management's complete lack of communication and accountability is inexcusable. And then, the cherry on top: while we were scrambling to figure out what to do, their Instagram page reposted a photo of a couple's table at 8:10 pm--smiling faces, fancy plates, the works. So apparently "unexpected problems" don't stop them from seating others, just us. We're heartbroken and honestly done. Camphor's lost its charm, and more importantly, it's lost our trust.

Managed to snag a last minute seating the day of and was also lucky to preorder the last lobster risotto they had for the day. Word of advice: make sure to pre-order dishes when you're making your reservation if you're going in last minute like us. We ordered the sea bream, onion tartine, lobster risotto, scallops, and seasonal vegetables. Sea bream - 3/5The sea bream was interesting and I would suggest at least trying it once.Onion tartine- 10/5The onion tartine was amazing! It literally tasted like French onion soup and the toast was so crunchy while still soaking up all the sauce. Lobster risotto - 3/5This was pricey, like $250 market price expensive but we figured it's worth a try. The lobster was tender and cooked to perfection, the risotto was delicious and full of flavor but sadly it was super salty! Scallops - 5/5Delicious. It's creamy but not overwhelming. You can feel yourself biting into the scallop with each pasta. Seasonal vegetables - 3/5This is their take on a ratatouille. They made it with japanese eggplant this time around. It's ok if you need some fiber with the meal.We actually ordered the chicken as well but the food came out so slow that we got really full half way through dinner service. I think we spent around 2.5 hours there and there were other tables who also seemed bored of waiting. Granted, I know the kitchen probably makes everything to order but I just wish it was a little faster

Every first Thursday of the month steak frites night was quite an experience. Located in an alleyway, a smaller restaurant with an open kitchen and gorgeous restrooms. While we had to wait 40 minutes between getting our salad and steak dish, the steak was worth the wait. Steak Frites Course ($65)- Bread and butter was nice, nothing amazing (7/10)- Salad w walnuts was really good, the dressing was slightly sweet and vinegary (8.5/10)- Hangar steak requested to be medium rare and fries. Fries were crispy, can't tell if homemade. Hangar steak was soo tender, and the gravy surprised me by being subtlety sweet and creamy rather than too rich and savory (9/10)Also note a bottle of water cost $10 each refill. And an automatic service fee of 20% is charged. Besides that, service was great, super attentive.

Camphor does not disappoint. I put in a reservation for the chicken and was so glad I did. It was soft and delicious. We tried the onion tartine, raddichio, and the sirloin duck burger. All were hits, no misses. They were also kind enough to write us a little note to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The staff was super attentive and great with any questions we had. We'll definitely be back again!

Camphor does steak and frites night first Wednesday of the month. For $65 it's a great deal. Salad was well prepared. It felt like each leaf was sauced separately and so evenly too. The inhouse butter was light and spreadable. The steak was cooked to perfection with a perfect sauce ratio. The fries were light and crispy and pairs well with the sauce also. This was my first time at camphor and was what made me decide to come back and try their full menu. Service was impeccable and interior well thought out. The open kitchen/bar side is a bit more vibrant while the dining side is more intimate. Just a heads up when deciding. These reservations get taken up fast btw

Michelin one star restaurant, for other Michelin, the food looking is emphasized, but the taste is emphasized for this one. The starters are great, we order tartare, onion tartine and sea bream , taste are so good for all. For main dishes, we ordered rib eye, sole and scallops, $150 sole is so so, rib eye is very good, the best ribeye I ever ate, scallops is very uniq. The only thing to complain is they charge 3% for credit card, it is not expected for so expensive restaurant

The Resturant is located in the arts district but surprisingly on a street that is not too busy in the night. It feels slightly secluded. They offer valet parking for $20 unlimited time. The restaurant is modern, the atmosphere is rich with a delicious aroma that will make you hungry. As for the food we really enjoyed the mushrooms and rice, the steak was cooked perfectly but I felt there was more butter than steak (we chose to scoop the solid layer off and place it on the side), the tartar was unique as it came with fried basil leaves. I found this refreshing! Overall I can see why it holds a Michelin star.

We had a reservation on a Friday night. Parking in the arts district is always a pain, but valet made it easy. There were running a little behind so we waited in the seating area and the took our drink orders. I started with the Latin quarter and it was very good. After we were sat they brought us a complimentary starter of some cheese puff type things. They were very good. There were 3 of us and we decided to all share. We ordered:- Bread & butter : DO NOT MISS!! The butter is INCREDIBLE!- scallops : very yummy - onion tartine: this was a must have - lentils and lamb: I could have skipped this- burger & fries: I'd heard so much about this, and don't get me wrong it was a great burger, but with everything else on their menu I wouldn't order it againThe restaurant was bustling, but service was quick and attentive. It has a fancy industrial feel to it. I can't wait to come back!

Highlights: Beef tartare, onion tartine, scallops, chicken, ribeyeAbsolutely phenomenal! This Michelin-starred restaurant truly stands out! I celebrated my birthday dinner here with a group of six, and we ordered a wide variety of dishes. Not a single dish fell short of perfection. Every bite was a delightful surprise. From the amuse-bouche, which hinted at the excellence to come, to the beef tartare (easily the best I've ever had) everything was superb. The onion tartine was so delicious that I could eat it every day, and the main course chicken was simply the best I've ever tasted, with a crispy exterior and incredibly tender meat inside. Each and every dish was exquisitely flavorful! The atmosphere was elegant yet unpretentious, with a clean, white interior and just the right amount of noise to keep it lively but comfortable. Truly top-notch! Can't wait to go back and try everything that's on the menu!
