"The food was good! The service was ok! Very crowded! Some items weren't cooked yet so u get something else or wait till they bring more out from the kitchen! We even bought some for the grandkids."
"Definitely an interesting experience since I don't get to try Shanghainese Chinese cuisine often. From the flavors of the Xiao Long Bao and Curry Beef Noodle Soup, I was getting the "SAME-SAME, BUT DIFFERENT" experience. Like I've tried something similar, but it's slightly different here.5/5 for Xiao long bao. Very soupy when you pop it open on your soup spoon and sip. Gentle umami flavor. They give more ginger strips to enjoy with the soup dumplings to help cut through the porky flavor. Skin of the dumplings were perfect - did not break when picked up and not too thick. Would get again.3/5 for Curry Beef Noodle Soup. Noodles are thin egg noodles. A few pieces of thinly sliced beef and 2 leaves of bokchoy lol... Slight curry flavor with thin soup consistency. It tasted like beef soup mixed with curry powder. It's different compared to many other curry noodle soups I have tried. Would not get again.3/5 for Seasonal Crab Roe Noodles. This dish was okay... Think a remix on Uni pasta dish but with crab roe and lighter in creaminess and heaviness, served on thin noodles. You definitely taste the crab roe and the crabby flavor. I usually like crab dishes but this dish was very strong in flavor. They offer a side of vinegar to add to your dish and it does cut down on the super strong crabby flavor which made it more palatable for me. Would not get again.Love the interior design and ambiance is calm and quiet. A small getaway in the local area that transports you to some neighborhood of chinese (I guess it's Shanghai).Overall Service was good. They give you a water pitcher so you dont have to constantly ask for water. Menu can be seen with the QR code and you place your order on your phone. Staff were nearby so they can attend to you when needed. Their menu offers a couple of dimsum items too. I would come back to check those out next time."

"Looking for a close Dim Sum to my friend's house, I found this hole in the wall place, which is now very favorite! Shumai was so juicy and delicious. The porridge was what I craved for and felt like home. The friendliness and welcoming staff puts the cherry on the top! Will be back!"
"This location is much better than the el segundo location. The Chongqing chicken is absolutely incredible. The spice level, the crunchiness, it hits every time. The beef rolls are a go to for me as well. Whether you use the tasty dipping sauce or make one of your own with the table condiments.Give this spot a shot."
"We've gone to Bistro 1968 now 2 times in the last month with big groups and we loved both times. We had a party of 20 the first time with a reunion of sorts with former co-workers. We're glad they were able to put us in a private room. The staff of Bistro 1968 were great both visits and we appreciated their help & customer service for our groups. I like their siu mai, great flavor and they are good sized. The house special crispy shrimp roll is delicious. The tempura-like exterior was light & crispy. The shrimp filling was tasty. We also love the baked snow caped bbq pork bun. The slight crunch on the exterior bun with char siu in the middle was perfect. I also really liked the pan fried turnip cake. Slight char on the outiside with minced pork pieces. So good. We also really like the chicken wings with spicy salt, leeks & shrimp dumpling, chines broccoli with oyster sauce, wonton with chili oil, beef chow fun, shrimp hargow, yangzhow fried rice, spare ribs in black bean sauce & crab meat egg roll. All the food came out fast, came out hot and tasted great. The fact that it's AYCE is great. I never knew the concept even existed. Ha! $25.88 on Saturdays & Sundays. Tea service is $2-$3 per person. I totally recommend Bistro 1968, the food, the service was really good. The managers & waiters were excellent both times for our big groups.Reservations given for parties of 8 or more people. Street parking mostly. Limited garage parking."

"Stopped by for dim sum on a Saturday around lunch. Surprisingly got seated pretty quickly, which was nice. They still use the traditional push carts, but the selection was lacking--felt like the carts weren't as stocked as they should be. A lot of people were walking up to the carts, trying to grab what they wanted. As for the dim sum, it's solid but pretty average--nothing really stood out to me, especially for the price. Service was okay. For a place called Five Star, I'd honestly rate it closer to 3.5. I'd come back, but it's not at the top of my list."
"Hallmarks of a Dim Sum Joint:Pushy Asians dressed head to toe in Gucci yelling the number of People in their Party to get a number to be placed on a waiting list.Rice Noodles are freshly made and the ingredients are chef's kiss.1. Rice Noodles 2. Golden Lava Bun3. Minced Meat Preserved Radish4. Seafood Porridge Chef Tony is a solid place for dim sum."
"ATLANTIC SEAFOOD & DIM SUM RESTAURANT is located in a complex with free underground parking. There was no line to get in, no line to get seated, and in no time at all, we had hot tea, water and the dimsum ladies crowding our table.Fast, delicious, accurate, friendly."
"Wifey wanted to try the noodle place next door and I spotted dim sum. Because of the price point it got me curious and since the noodle place was ok for me to bring dim sum over, here I am. It's located inside the Ralph plaza so there's an underground parking garage and also parking outside the restaurants. The place itself is not that big. There's 8 tables but some are for 6 while others for 2.I came around Monday 3:30pm and there's 3 tables filled. I was happy to hear the waiter and chef speaking Mandarin so right off i know it's authentic. I really like the spacious and clean kitchen. I ordered egg tarts, egg custard, scallops pork shrimp sui mai and chicken feet. Didn't want to order too much as I'm eating next door as well lol but def want to get a feel for the food here to see if there's a need to return if I'm ever in the area (it is close by my church). It took a long minute for me to get my food which was something im not use to as dim sum is suppose to be fast and quick and my noodles next door got cold by the time it was ready. So I tried the egg tarts first because that's usually a giveaway for me to see if they're actually legit and happy to say the egg tarts was legit. The sui mai was good with a whole piece of scallop on the bottom. Honestly they were all good and I'm actually down to come back to give other items on the menu a try.Service was very friendly. Next time I'm craving for dim sum in Hollywood, I'll be back here again. There were some seasonal items that looked interesting and also the desserts :)"
"Decent dim sum experience! Stopped in on a Monday night about an hour before close, so we got seated right away. The vibe is warm with all the red coloring and wood throughout the restaurant. We ordered the Juicy Roulette (one of each of the various soup dumplings on the menu); the sticky rice with chicken and Chinese sausage; chicken shumai (fyi these are HUGE); the mini pan-fried pork soup dumplings; and the spicy chicken and shrimp wontons. Everything was tasty and you will absolutely leave full. We checked in on Yelp and got a complimentary order of the crispy scallion pancake. The staff were also kind enough to bring out a complimentary order of Bao Milk Buns for dessert and they were SO good (low-key my fave part of the whole meal). Our server was really lovely. Street parking only."
"I have ordered from Tian's 3 times in the last month. The easiest, tastiest option on Uber Eats right now! The pork buns! The salt and pepper tofu! The red bean pancakes! Holy heck everything I have gotten is just tremendous! It's really difficult to think of anything other than those soft, pillowy buns. Like I honestly might order again tonight it's so good."

New Capital is a misnomer. It's more of a time machine that transports you back 30 years to the 90's, to the good ol' days of the golden age of dim sum in Southern California. Not only the food, but the decor is appropriately dated. Even the ripe age of the clientele mostly matches the surrounding. You do get the loud and aggressive hawking of the dishes from each of the staff jostling their carts to your table. The food tasted very good and definitely authentic. One bite is enough to transport you back to childhood memories of dim sum. The variety of selection is also impressive. I can guarantee you that you're unable to try all the items without bursting your stomach.Grab a table next to the large windows. The view of the mountains is magnificent. So take a stroll down memory lane and relive the glory of the dim sum past. Parking is also crazy, just like the old times.

Date of visit: 1/29/2025 (Lunar new year lunch time)Wish I looked at the paper menu instead of the online menu. Paper menu shows which the signature dishes are; I believe online menu doesn't. DO ORDER THESE: - crab pork XLB: authentic Shanghai XLB! Very very good! Skin is not the thinnest but has very good texture. - gluten puff in Shanghai style: came out hot, it was so good! - pan fried pork bun: not your everyday pan fried pork bun as it's not really bun but more like thin bun-like layer covering the meat filling. It's good as it's not as heavy as a real bun would be. Filling very juicy and flavorful. Eat it like you do XLB: hold soup spoon with your left hand, chopstick the bun with your right hand and bite a little hole on the bun, pour the juice on your spoon and enjoy the yummy broth before eating the rest of the bun. - corn shrimp paste cake: very very good! I love these! - spicy diced pork: very tasty and not spicy at all for meDO NOT ORDER THESE: - scallion oil dry noodle: bland! noodle was way overcooked. - bean curd wrapped pork & vermicelli soup: bland. The bean curd wrap was way too thick. Desserts I ordered:- osmanthus ice jelly: not bad. Not too sweet which is always a plus on my book, but honestly I've had better elsewhere - iced lily and mung bean soup: it comes with a ball of sticky rice in the middle. I like the mung bean but not too crazy with the sticky rice. I believe this is my first time having sticky rice dessert with a clear thin sweet soup like this. Usually sticky rice dessert comes with thicker sauce....All in all I like this restaurant and will def come back and try their signature noodle dishes!

Single handedly has become my go to dim sum spot. The place is pretty small so you won't be seeing carts of dim sum being push around but everything comes out pretty quickly. I rave about their chili oil! My go-to items are: shu mai, friend chicken fried dumpling, and pan fried chive cakesExpect to wait during weekend lunch times but it's so worth it

(Grubhub Delivery)This is my go-to for Dumplings. So glad it is in my home area (West LA, Sawtelle, Brentwood -- but you can be sure my home is not at B.)Ordered their Lamb Dumplings again recently. This time boiled. Verdict? I prefer the fried ones. Notable point and the reason for this review update:After several delivery -Grubhub orders from other restaurants or eateries, Northern Cafe is the first restaurant or eatery that provided utensils. All the others did not provide utensils EVEN though they specifically asked if I wanted utensils (and I clicked yes).

An all you can eat dim sum.. say less! Private parking lot limited space during weekend, we ended up parking across the street which wasn't a big deal to us. Weekend price is currently $25.99/person plus $2/person for tea which comes out to $27.99 unless you opt for no tea. I don't know anyone that doesn't get tea with their dim sum. Surprisingly pretty good despite just a few items that weren't good. I would come back. We were seated right away on a Saturday around noon for a party of 3.Thousand Year Old Eggs Pork Congee -stray away. Texture was off and tasted like tap water. No flavor. Pork was chewy.Jumbo Sticky Rice Wrap (Lo Mai Gai) -not much lotus leaf flavor. There's parchment paper between rice/filling and leaf. It wasn't great at first but we were scooping it as is. If you mix it it's much better. Bottom has most of the filling and flavor, top is just sticky plain rice.Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai -ugly, but really good. They don't top their sui mai with any garnishes so it looks bland/no color. Pork was tender and juicy. Shrimp had a nice fresh snap. Shrimp Har Gow -skin was chewy and moist. Shrimp was fresh. Shrimp Rice Roll (Ha Cheng Fun)- noodle was silky with a bounce. Shrimp had a fresh snap.Hong Kong Egg Custard (Dan Tat)- pastry shell was so flaky and buttery. Egg custard was creamy and not too dense.Beef Chow Fun Soy Sauce Style -pretty good, beef is tender. You can the taste wok heat. Noodles weren't broken/ small bits.Wonton w/ Chili Oil Sauce - chili oil was fragrant and flavorful. Wontons were juicy. Didn't expect it to be a hit for us.

Came here on a holiday, it was New Year's Day. Super packed. Waited about an hour. Got there at 11:30am, sat down @ 12:30pm, ordered. Didn't like that the food came out one by one but it's understandable because it was a very busy day. We waited forever for the shrimp har gow, it never came out. Asked them to check on it about 2-3 times. I kept seeing them serve it to other tables that came after us. Very upsetting. Service was not bad, the server taking care of us deserves a raise, he understood English and explained the dishes very well. Ordered dim sum mostly, was ok. Chicken feet was delicious! Didn't like the black chicken soup. And I forgot what the dish was called, but it had vegetables with century egg - didn't like that at all. Wouldn't recommend that. Didn't leave the place until 2:45pm.. since food took forever to come out. I've never spent over 2 hours while sitting & waiting for food. Probably would go back on a non holiday.. also the restaurant looked nice, I liked the big screens playing college football lol.

Did ya know that Five Star Seafood Restaurant have a dinner deal "Spend over $35 and get free 2lbs of shrimp"? I just found out from my parents they have a sign in their waiting area about this deal (in Chinese), and you have to ask for it when you order. They don't automatically give it to you.I came here on Sunday evening with my parents, and this place was packed during dinner time. We had to wait for our table but it wasn't too bad of a wait thankfully. We ordered 4 dishes + the free 2lb shrimp, but only got 3 dishes since they keep bringing the wrong dish to us. We had ordered soft tofu with preserved tofu, but they kept bringing a broccoli dish. My parents said the Chinese character for the dish is almost the same so the chef might have misread it and cooked the wrong dish for us so we had to tell them 4 times it wasn't our dish. It was pretty silly considering the order was correctly placed in their machine but it just was the cook making the mistake multiple times. Anyhow the tofu dish is pretty good here, I have tried it previously before. I also really loved their steam fish, Hainan chicken, and soups. They offer a wide variety of menu items so this place is fun to go since it has everything you want. They also offer complimentary dessert. They don't offer complimentary soup though, since my parents said they only offer that for lunch menu and not for dinner menu. The venue itself gives nostagia so I enjoy coming here. The only thing that sucks right now is that this plaza is completely dead so you can't wander after a meal. I remember them having tons of stores but due to remodeling, majority of the stores are closed except for Ranch 99, a boba shop, and Daiso.

Walking distance from my son's townhome - that's dangerous when you have a Cantonese and Dim Dum restaurant, Chinese bakery, and dessert shop all in one nearby strip mall.Chef Tony, originating out of Asia then opening restaurants in Canada and the US, is on the higher end of the price spectrum for dim sum restaurants. They have dim sum items with gold flakes, squid ink, black truffles, elaborate soups, in addition to traditional items that you're used to at all dim sum establishments. We arrived early at this modern looking restaurant that used to be a Din Tai Fung; Still has the large glass windows looking into the prep and steamer room as you walk in. Furniture is modern and the walls are sporadically decorated with pictures of Chef Tony with VIPs and large plate glass windows allowing for plenty of natural light from the parking lot.The two of us shared eight items:- Chicken Feet (bland but properly cooked to the point that all digits easily separated - just spice it up more)- Black Truffle Siu Mai (Good taste, meaty..would love more Black Truffle)- Squid Ink Scallop Dumpling with XO Sauce ( spicy good)- Fried Taro Cake (different and not one of our favorites)- Fried Meat Dumpling (crispy, chewy, and a good amount of meat filling, liked this)- Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf (good version, tasty, no lost rice as it all came off of the leaf)- French Crusted Baked Pork Bun (another good version, flaky outer layer, soft puffy bun, good amount of tasty filling)- Milk Bun (soft puffy bun with runny eggy filling, wanted more of a milky filling)Overall, we had decent unbothering service, clean amenities, decent food, and everything came out HOT as it should be. It's a pricey mark-the-menu place and we were happy that not all items came out at once. Wait time was minimal to none on a Saturday.

"Ive been coming here for quite some time. This is one of the restaurants you see in the movies. Reminds me of the restaurant from the movie, "A Christmas Story." This place is opulent in its unique custom decor and ambiance. Love it. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was unbelievably fast. I got the Mongolian beef and it was everything! I was most impressed. The waiter was super friendly and sweet. I love how they bring you a pot of tea immediately. I'll keep coming back for the good food and the decor that really gets my imagination going. Really love the chandelier. These types of restaurants are jems!!"
"My daughter told me about this place and I took a chance on it even though it's 26 miles from my house. Was it worth the drive? Hell yes it was!!!I'm no expert on dumplings or buns etc. but the memory of the food here is gonna live in my mind rent free for the rest of my life! What we ate today (see pics) was outstanding. The service was friendly and very easy to order. Just pick it, pay for it, take a number and have a seat. It's brought to you fresh and ready to be devoured. Steamed dumplings were great but it's the Buns that have me wanting to come back again and again! The place is chill inside. Music playing and it's simple and clean. What more could you want?MISCELLANEOUS:Parking is available in its own lot or on the metered street. Food can be made to go and vegan options are available. OVERALL:Yes it was worth the drive for me and I also discovered all sorts of small shops in the area that added to the splendor of this place. Give Masons a try ASAP!"
"I've been craving dim sum lately and randomly found this place when I was driving down Sunset Blvd! So happy I gave it a try. They have a pretty good variety of items and the food came out super quick. The Shao Mai was a favorite of mine and the red bean bun baos were so soft, fluffy and flavorful. Don't forget the sesame balls, perfectly crispy and delicious!"
"Dinner Friday evening, 9/13/2024I thought this was a California-type Chinese restaurant. I confused this with Dan Modern Chinese. Anyway, Moon House is a regular Chinese restaurant. Service was basic. The interior was basic. No beer, no alcohol. The food was pretty good. We ordered 3 types of dumplings. I tried the fried one and another type.We also ordered their crispy chow meinAlso sauteed string beansAnd a steamed sole filet"
"Venturing beyond San Pedro, I discovered a gem of a Chinese restaurant with a serene ambiance and truly authentic flavors. The classics--curry chicken with potatoes, beef and broccoli, Chinese broccoli, egg drop soup, and white rice--were expertly prepared and deeply satisfying. Our server, Iris, was warm and attentive, adding to the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. A must-visit for those craving genuine Chinese cuisine. Thanks for reading"
"Hungry! We were hungry! We finished a pleasant visit to The Hammer (the museum, not the tool). Then we realized that we were hungry! In fact, I was getting a little woozy. What to do? In similar situations, I usually spin the Yelp wheel, find a well-regarded location and order something yummy. But in my somewhat dazed condition it fell to my wife to guide us. Randomly, we arrived at this restaurant. I looked up at the sign and vaguely mumbled "I like dim sum. " My wife replied "yes you do, now let's get you some to eat." She guided me inside. And then I woke up like a shot--they had vegetarian bao! I can never find vegetarian bao. Short story long, the food was really good. The staff were pleasant. The place clean. And I recovered sufficiently to write this note. Now it is time for a nap. Take care."
"This restaurant is hidden on Lake Ave located in The Commons. It is hidden in the back right next to Philz Coffee on 929 Shoppers Lane. There Chinese food here is elevated and amazing. My boy friend and I enjoy eating here all the time. And believe me, it never misses. So far we have ordered:- short rib dan mein- dungeness crab fried rice- three cup chicken- mapo tofu with pork- dan chicken - chilli oil pork shrimp We LOVE everything we have ordered from here and have next to try the *shrimp with crab sauce* and the *beef roll*.The food just melts in our mouth. You can really just taste a kick of flavor but in a good way. The staff here are super sweet. Sometimes when we order for pick up, and the staff always gracefully ask if we need any utensils, places, and condiments, and or extra. Very very kind staff. Keep up the great amazing work. This location is awesome!"
"Very tasty dumplings and wow, the crispy chicken!! Came here for a quick, warm, and tasty meal before going to a show at the Pantages. They were very speedy and got us our receipt fast knowing we were probably heading over to a show. Simple and laid back place great for a quick bite!"
"Had not been here in years and was so happy this place is still around and serving up tasty Chinese food! My faves are the Chinese chicken salad and the bbq pork fried rice. So good! My parents moved to the area and I anticipate a lot more visits. The prices are reasonable and it's better than Chin Chin!"
"I regularly visit this bakery to get baked goods for workplace parties. They offer a variety of dim sum and bakery items at reasonable prices. Although metered street parking is available, the wait is typically short once inside the bakery. I recommend visiting this bakery when visiting Chinatown."
"Service: 4.5/5Ambiance: 5/5Food: 2/5 or 3/5Came here to try the following: Xiao long bao soup dumplings, 4/5 - good, but I've had betterJumbo Shrimp Har Gow, 4/5 - same, good but I've had betterBeef rice roll, 1/5 - terrible! The beef tasted artificial! Crispy Crab and Shrimp Claw, 5/5 - very unique, would try again! Chicken Feet, 1/5 - tasted extremely oily and stale. Would not recommend Braised pork spare ribs, 2/5 - again, very greasy and not much pork. Mostly fat. Wish I liked this place more but sad it didn't work for me! Parking is extremely convenient. The beef, pork, and chicken dishes were quite disappointing although the location, ambiance, and service was pleasant. Having Jeni's ice cream afterwards was redeeming though :)"
"We found this nice dumping place while apartment shopping. There is a small parking lot out front and I was lucky to get the last spot directly in front. We ordered the soup dumplings, pot stickers, and pork rice bowl. And washed it down with a Thai ice tea. They bring a water bottle and cups to the table which is a nice touch like you see at Korean restaurants but more rare at Chinese or Taiwaneae food. The food really hit the spot. I really wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant was clean and the server was nice. The best part are the photos on the menu. Yes, I could figure out what each item is based on the description but I always like to see what I am ordering without having to pull out my phone to check Yelp. I know I am a weirdo. The food was reasonable priced and a great casual lunch spot."
"My dad -the foodie. Who always dragged us as kids to Chinatown to eat Chinese food ( we were bored and had little appreciation of thist) This is my dad's favorite Chinese restaurant. A hidden treasure. My boyfriend asked my dad how long he's been eating there and my dad said he's been going there for 15 years - a couple of different owners, but the quality of the food has always stayed the same. We went to dinner last night. I didn't have the heart to tell him, but I had gone earlier that morning lol to get dim sum. Yeah, my dad goes there all the time. He said he took about 9 people for a class he was teaching there earlier the week. We've had countless big gatherings there over the years. There are two private rooms that can be made to a big private room. I think one family dinner was for about 40 people. The food is amazing, I'll get to that in a sec. Wanted to mention the service is awesome. I don't mean it as a slight, but if I have to describe the service I would say they are efficient and quick. When other restaurant stops to chat and talk. Not here. Quick to see things like - four of us order wine - "Get a bottle" Gary instructs. Last night he asked how many were joining us. One more and a child we say. He tells us we've ordered enough. lol ....So my go to is the dim sum. I love the har gow and shui mai. That's the shrimp and pork dumplings. There is a rice shrimp roll that is very good. Egg rolls great. My boyfriend's favorite is the spicy fried calamari - it is fried (everything fried is gotta be good!) has jalapeño, green onion. It was SO good, we ordered it twice yesterday. It is actually is "squid w/ spicy salt" on the menu. I can sell it to my caucasian boyfriend better if I call it "spicy fried calamari." I also like their soups - their fish maw with crab meat soup is wonderful. I also love their chicken and shrimp with pine nuts lettuce cups. I couldn't also order those dishes because as I said Gary told us we had already ordered too much. When I go with my dad, it is a feast. We got the Peking duck, lobster, the Westlake Minced Beef soup (for my niece the pan fried pot stickers and low mein), for my boyfriend the Squid w/ spicy salt, and my and my dad's two favorite vegetables - the dow mai with garlic, and the green beans. I'm not sure if the dow mui - which is Snow peas with garlic is on the menu, but you can ask for it. It's like spinach, but the taste I think is more mild. My boyfriend who generally hates anything green thought it was very good. We didn't get it this time because my niece wanted the low mein, but I usually beg for and get the beef chow fun. Chow fun is a large flat rice noodle. It my favorite and so amazing here. We were too stuffed for desserts, but Gary brought us a bunch anyway. A very good almond pudding, and mango pudding. He also gave us some fried something but I didn't get to test that because my sister hogged it. I will add some pictures later. I realized after eating several dishes that I forgot to take pictures. Oops."
"Shame on us for stupidly partaking in dim sum or yum cha at this popular and former Michelin-star-awarded Chinese restaurant on Saturday, a typical Chinese Family Day, without making reservations! Our December vacation was quickly ending , and after stuffing ourselves with Taiwanese, Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, and modern Chinese cuisine, my husband and brother-in-law, who can eat Chinese food seven days a week, convinced me to agree to have dim sum or yum cha at Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant. Admittedly, I've had Sea Harbour restaurant bookmarked for several years and it didn't take much to "twist my arm" into agreement. I mapped our course and found that it would take us less than half an hour to travel 26 miles.Upon approaching Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, we noticed the outdoor walkway lined with people, but we still turned into the crowded parking lot, even though we suggested going elsewhere. However, we lucked out and got into a parking stall that someone had just vacated. We made our way to the restaurant's entrance. We felt like we walked through a gauntlet of hungry and patient customers before reaching the receptionist desk, where we checked in on the waitlist at 11:15 AM.The huge restaurant, with a capacity of nearly 300, looked like it was completely filled, and the staff expertly weaved and bobbed their way through the crowd, taking and delivering food and beverage orders. After waiting 30 minutes, we noticed there didn't seem to be much movement in the wait list even though several tables cleared. I noticed that I could have downloaded their reservation app but found that there wasn't anything available until 1:30 PM. We still maintained our positive outlook as we did see several parties who had checked in before us get seated. We liked their seating wait list and reservation process as we patiently watched the digital display while a female worker called out the wait list numbers by group size and check-in time. We waited slightly over two hours before our number was called, but we felt pity for the groups that had checked in after us.As soon as we were seated, our server, Gina spoke Cantonese, introduced herself, and asked us for a tea selection. I replied with our tea choice (heung pin or jasmine) and asked for glasses of iced water and Tsingtao beers for our group of three. She gave us the order sheet and pictorial menus and scurried to a workstation with our teapot, cups, and glasses of iced water. The menu featured famliar steamed, baked, pan-fried and deep fried dim sum dishes. We would typically order the "four Heavenly kings of dim sum," which are siu mai 燒賣, char siu bao 叉燒包, har gow 蝦餃, and daan tot 蛋撻. However, even though the menu and food photos distracted us, we still got them but enhanced by Sea Harbour restaurant.FOOD:- Jelly Fish Salad with Spicy Sauce -Deep Fried Smelt in Spicy Salt-Sticky Rice with Preserved Meats -Poached Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce -Bean Curd Skin Roll with Seafood in Abalone Sauce -Shrimp Dumplings (har gow) -Pork & Shrimp Dumplings with Truffle Sauce -Ginger Chicken & Pork Bun-Deep Fried Pork Sticky Rice Puff-Assorted Seafood Fried Crispy NoodleOur food and beverage bill came up to nearly $150 with tax and tip but the flavors, varieties, and amount of food that we ordered were well worth the nearly two hour wait. Gina made us feel welcomed and was very attentive without being intrusive. She provided us with service that we're not usually accustomed to at Chinese restaurants in Honolulu, elsewhere on the Mainland, or abroad. We'd gladly return to Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, but when we do, I'll make dining reservations."
"Quick recap of our order: Hot and sour soup 4/5Honey walnut shrimp 4/5King crab 3 ways- HK style 4/5- Steam garlic with vermicelli 4/5- crab fried rice 3/5Beef and mushroom 3/5Ong Choy 4/5Fried intestine 4/5Red bean tapioca desert 5/5 -----Came to check out their promotion on king crab, it's $29.99/lb. Will definitely be back to try more!"
"Enjoyed lunch here during a break for a meeting. Located in the Courtyard Marriott, Chef Tony specializes in dim sum. A menu is provided by waitstaff with food items to check off on your order. Each item is brought to the table individually. We ordered shrimp dumplings ginger chicken dumplings, wontons, stir fried noodles with vegetables and sweet and sour pork. My favorite is the wontons, very tasty. Moderate noise level and crowd during weekday lunch time with lots of natural light. Very Good"
"Dou Lao Fang Restaurant - Update Review (October 2, 2024)This is my third update on Dou Lao Fang, and I visited today for their recently reintroduced dim sum. I have to say, the dim sum is back and better than ever! We tried the shrimp egg roll and BBQ pork puff pastry, and both were simply amazing. You can tell these dishes are the work of a master dim sum chef.During our visit, we bumped into the new owners, Jason and Ellen, who were incredibly friendly. They informed us that the restaurant will soon be changing its name to Tang Gong Seafood, a famous Cantonese seafood restaurant from China. They're relocating their Monterey Park Tang Gong Seafood location to this spot in Arcadia, replacing the current hot pot theme.I'm eagerly looking forward to the new menu. Based on their Monterey Park location and the reputation of their Chinese restaurants, I know we're in for some delicious food!"
"Quick SummaryReally solid dim sum spot. The food is freshly and well made. Service was pretty good for dim sum standards. Parking is a hit or miss since the restaurant uses parking in the Holiday Inn Express. Pretty good prices as well. Food- 5 starsPretty good quality and fresh dim sum at pretty good prices. Some of the best sticky rice lotus leaf wraps and baked buns around the area here. Everything is really solid and fresh, and their unique speciality is their coconut crispy chicken which is pretty attractive if you get the full chicken. You get close to the quality of a Lunasia at a much lower priceService- 5 starsSimilar to most dim sum restaurants, you do have to flag the wait staff if you need something. Otherwise, the servers were pretty attentive on clearing out plates and getting orders out efficientlyAmbianceIt's not as tightly packed as other dim sum restaurants. There's plenty of waiting area since it's attached to the Holiday Inn Express. It just can be a wait during weekends and there's not much to look around if you're waiting, since it's not attached to a larger strip mallBottom LineReally good dim sum at great prices. Just make sure you go early or late during the weekends to avoid the wait times"
"I know BAO BAO HOUSE I essentially a food court restaurant that just happen to have a really beautiful space at Hollywood & Highland's food court, but it really does serve good food.Their Har Row (shrimp dumplings) really did the trick and satisfied my hunger and kept me full for quite some time after -- enough to last an entire show. They also serve coffee. Which is also much needed because, as I mentioned already, I had to sit through a whole show.Conveniently located. Reasonable prices. Fast. Delicious. Plenty of seating is available on this floor and the others."
"Delicious Dim Sum in BH, this place pleasantly surprised me. Came in with low expectations because there's not a wide variety of good Chinese restaurants on the West Side but this place blew my mind. All the dishes were good except for the fried squid - it was too salty for my liking. However, the place is clean and the service is good. The flavors for each dish were well-balanced and authentic, the XO rice paper rolls were my favorite followed by the bok choy steamed in broth. The broth was aromatic and flavorful.Parking is a pain on La Cienega but they have a lot next to the restaurant and they validate for the first two-hours. Cash only."
"Roasted duck on rice plate is my go-to. Flavorful, generous servings and priced right. Nice selection of dim sum, I enjoy the pork bun and the shiu mai as well."
"Love the food from Green Apple China Bistro so savory and delicious. My entire family loves this place for Chinese.Support your local restaurants."
"I like this location over the Pasadena location. It doesn't have that tired rushed touristy feel. It's good for dim sum at the "not dim sum" hours. Cuz, you know, sometimes I want dim sum at other times besides Sunday afternoon. The siu mai are large! Almost double the size you might find on the yum cha cart, so order proportionally. You can also order in multiples: 4, 6, 10, pieces for some items like sui mai and har gow. They use a QR code for the menu and ordering, so, contact with waitstaff is limited. They are there of course to tend to you: bring tea, condiments, etc. but they do not take your order. They are attentive and responsive.I guess with this method of ordering, each person can order and pay for themselves, which may eliminate that fight that always occurs when the bill comes. Otherwise, one person will have to do all the ordering on their phone and be the one getting the bill.Place is nice, clean, and they have a couple private dining rooms.I found street parking, but I think there is a garage just behind them that is shared between residents and visitors of the multi use building. It may not be the ultimate dim sum experience, but it hits the spot and tastes great. We usually get: sui mai, har-gow, pork bao, diakon, and noodle rolls. The only time I've been disappointed with Lunasia was at the Pasadena location when they once ran out of some items. If Pasadena wasn't closer to me, I'd go to this location instead."
