Cris I. "Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, Golden Tree Restaurant is a hidden gem that offers a taste of authentic Cantonese cuisine. While the exterior might not be fancy, step inside and be transported to a bustling atmosphere filled with delicious aromas and friendly service. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. You can easily enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. On my last visit, I shared with a friend wonton soup, shrimp fried rice and mapo tofu. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is small and can get quite crowded, especially on weekends so prepared for a wait. Parking in Chinatown can also be tricky."

There's shopping places in the same area. We had the cucumbers, beef dumpling, veg dumpling, popcorn chicken and shrimp with zucchini dumpling. I liked everything but the veg one. I don't really like mushrooms - you have to like that. Everything else was great and I like that the skin is really thin. So you're tasting and eating the filling. They are large size and reasonably priced. Worth the trip to Silverlake."

Millena P. "Cali is finally getting cold, and this Mala Tang was perfect for the weather! It was date night, and we were excited bc this was our first time trying Korean style hot pot.Parking: The Source has a free parking garage. Plenty of parking and easy to find.Ambiance/Environment: This spot is located on the second floor. We visited right before their dinner rush. It started getting busy between 6-8pm. They have a large space inside with plenty of seating. Perfect for all group sizes. Very clean and modern inside.Service: Everyone was helpful and welcoming, but special shout out to Andrew! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and even gave us good recommendations. There was also a worker constantly walking around ensuring everyone was doing well. Overall, service was above & beyond excellent. What to do: After a server seats you, take a look at the menu. Then get a bowl & tongs from the toppings bar and fill it up. Remember they charge per lb, and they do have a scale so it gives you an idea of how much you're spending. Take your bowl to the register and choose whether you want Mala tang, Mala stir fry, or Mala pan. Choose your spice level. They'll take your bowl and prepare your dish. Then they serve it to you.Food & Drinks:1) Mala Tang, med hot - I ordered this. I absolutely looove the broth! It had the perfect amount of spiciness. All the toppings I chose were delicious, and the beef brisket & lamb were cooked well.2) Mala Stir Fry, hot - My bf ordered this, and I only took one bite bc this was veryyy spicy for me lol. The stir fry had so much flavor, and everything was cooked perfectly!3) Sweet & Sour Pork - This was recommended to us. The pork wasn't too chewy, and the outside texture was gooey. We never had anything like it, so it was a good different taste for us.4) Rose Tteokbokki - Another dish that was recommended to us. This was definitely rich in flavor. The rice cake was cooked well and drenched in the Mala sauce. The dumplings & sausages were also delicious!5) Milkis & Walovi - Some of my fav Korean drinks! Can't go wrong with these classics. So refreshing!Pricing: Definitely worth it $$$. These portions were HUGE, so they're shareable."

Parking is hard but the food is well worth it.The Sesame Chicken has excellent flavors, crispy, as well! We did carry out so the house special tofu wasn't quite as crisp but that's on me. Enjoyed the flavors and also the Shanghai Spare Ribs were bomb! From all I've heard these are the 3 main dishes to try here. Now that I've had those and find them absolutely delish, time to move on to me trying more of their items. Charles P. "My wife was craving Chinese BBQ lamb skewers, so we randomly decided to try this hidden gem and we're so glad we did! The shopping plaza is always busy, so I recommend heading to the back for parking; otherwise, you might get stuck in the main lot. When we walked in, the server was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain how everything worked, including how to navigate the app to place our order. One pleasant surprise was that both of our kids automatically got free kids' meals! Another highlight: the large lamb skewers, normally $3.75, are only $1 before 6 PM. The only catch is that it's dine-in only, but with unlimited orders, it's a fantastic deal. The lamb skewers were delicious. super flavorful with just a hint of spice. The squid and squid feet were also great; we asked for them to be less spicy for the kids, and they turned out perfect. The okra was tasty, though a bit on the salty side, but that's what beer is for, right? Overall, this place is a great find with excellent food at an unbeatable price. We'll definitely be back!"

The Salt and Pepper Lamb was crispy, flavorful, and just perfect. Their homemade pies were also very good. They were like giant soup dumplings with similar flavor also. We asked questions about the menu and our server was pretty short and not all that helpful so we punted. We ordered a mix of items and hoped for the best. Scallion pancakes were crunchy and a little greasy and tasty. The chicken and pork pot stickers were delicious. They felt homemade and were cooked to perfection. The ground pork noodles were not good although the server Implied they were a house favorite. The Liang Ban noodles were served cold and were a spicy, 4-star dish. A glass of Sauvignon Blanc was $12 and our guests had two. The ambience is ok, it's cramped and loud when busy. I felt not compulsion to photograph the food other than a couple of shots of noodles so that probably tells you all you need to know. It served a purpose but I don't know that I would return for a repeat of anything we had."

James L. "Short while ago, I came across this restaurant on Yelp. The reviews mentioned great food and daily lunch specials, plus something that's unheard of these days, a ling list of specials for only $10. So on a day when we had nothing planned for lunch, we came here to try them out. The parking lot is shared with other businesses. The closest spots are tight and need a little maneuvering skills to get in. The outside and interior is not fancy at all. Just your average Chinese restaurant. The service is similar to a design style I like: minimalist. It's almost like they made an effort to exchange as little words as possible and avoid any facial expressions. For lunch, we went with their specials menu: Filet mignon in black pepper sauce: nice color in the beef but we all know it's not filet mignon. The beef was lacking compared to the onions they filled the plate with. Some pieces were tender, some were chewy. 3/5.(see my photo) Chicken fried rice: decent wok flavor and generous with the chicken. We opted out of scallions or any of the frozen diced veggies. 3.5/5String beans and chicken: An even amount of chicken vs. beans. Flavor isn't bad. 3.5/5Seafood tofu hot pot. Decent amount of fish and shrimp with tofu. Good flavor. 4/5. They served complimentary soup, but my soup spoon tasted like dishwater, as if they just fished it out of the sink. One sip was enough for me to thoroughly inspect every bowl plate or cup. Whenever we ask for anything, like water or the rice that was supposed to come with the lunch specials, we had to ask twice. They accept credit cards, but charge .75 extra. And then they tell me they cannot put the tip on the card so we have to use cash. OK, I get why, but what if I didn't bring cash? So the food was pretty decent, not much to rave or complain about. But for me, I very much prefer supporting businesses with good people that actually appreciate their customers a bit. Will I come back? Who knows, but I'm in no hurry that's for certain."

Lina C. "Definitely a hidden gem in Los Angeles. Not your fancy restaurant, but a hole-in-the-wall that I'm so thankful that I found. It's also a mom-and-pop shop which I am more than happy to bring my business here. This place is considered a Korean-Chinese style restaurant where their dishes are known for their jja-jjang-myun (black bean noodles) or the jjamppong (hot and spicy noodle soup). My husband and I usually go to a Ktown chain to get this dish but my heart is set on coming back here for my fix. It's definitely a small restaurant in a plaza that has a good amount of parking. I was able to find a spot easily and so did my friend. I also noticed there was ample street parking as well so parking shouldn't be a problem. As you walk in, it's a very old school, run restaurant where they have wooden menu's and an A/C box running, with an old school tv. Two elderly gentlemen came out with a tea for our drink and then we ordered the black bean noodles (plain) and a stir fried version of it as well as the hot, spicy soupy noodle dish (my favorite). Oh and a happy family seafood dish to share with a friend, my husband, and me. Mind you the portions are pretty decent for what it's worth and had a good amount still by the time we were all done eating.I liked everyone one of the dishes especially the stir fried version of the black bean noodles and the spicy soup. I ate it growing up as a child and it brought back those memories. The soup isn't too spicy anyone who is concerned of spice levels. And I really liked the happy family seafood dish. I never ordered something like that before but my husband had mentioned it's a premium dish that you normally eat with the jja-jjang-myun (black bean noodles) or the jjamppong (hot and spicy noodle soup). As far as service goes, the two gentlemen were sweet and absolutely refilled our teas often. You can tell they were there to provide good service. Luckily this spot is close by my work so I can't wait to introduce this spot to my coworkers. Don't let looks deceive you as the place itself may not be charming, but the food is delicious - I mean, look at the other reviews. You just have to try this place for yourself."
