"This place was really good and the food was fresh with spice to it but took forever. If you're pressed for time then highly recommend you either call the order in or wait til you have more flexible time. The service was average, not bad and not outstanding, but I will be back for sure and recommend this place. I can't speak on anything else on the menu but what I mentioned. They were playing afro beats and reggae music as well as the decor aligned. The parking was limited and in a plaza but thankfully free and found with ease."
"This place is a hit or miss. The staff is kind of rude it I guess that's just their culture. Calling in an order takes a very long time."

"Average Jamaican food. Prices are slightly higher but everything was just okay. There's no calling in your order, the phone has a busy tone. Cabbage was nice and buttery but everything was just okay. The oxtails didn't have a lot of flavor and the jerk chicken was spicy and dry. The lady was nice, there was a man in there watching a movie who was completely unhelpful. I wouldn't come back here."
"Always delicious and fresh. Great customer service. Looking forward to trying all the different items on the menu."
"I finally got around to checking out Joan's & Sisters for the first time. I decided to stop by after work around 3pm. The place was pretty much empty, there was only one customer at the time. It was a friendly Belizean man who spoke highly of the food. It reassured me that the food I was about to order was going to be good. I ordered their Ox Tail plate, which was about $25. It's definitely not the cheapest plate, but for the amount of food they give, I would say it's worth it. The Ox Tail plate can definitely feed two people, in my opinion. The flavors were there and nothing was overpowering. The Ox Tails were juicy and tender. The potato salad was surprisingly good. The rice and beans together with the plantains is a must. I live so close to this place I can't believe I didn't try it sooner."
"I haven't been to this place for years. Actually, it was about 35 years ago. I'm not sure when it switched from Cuban to Cuban/Mexican but it's definitely not Cuban any longer. I had the La Bamba Garlic chicken sandwich. It was good if your not expecting it to be a cubano type sandwich. If you want Cuban, I would suggest eating somewhere else. If you want a decent meal and your taste buds aren't set on Cuban cuisine, then it's a great casual option."
"Had been seeing the hype on IG...food always looked super tasty. We recently moved back to the area so my husband and I decided to check it out. Was NOT disappointed at all! We ordered the oxtail plate with white rice, extra gravy...wanted all white rice but still got rice and peas and cabbage...that was OK, though cause it tasted awesome. Also ordered the jerk chicken plate. Mouth still watering...mac and cheese was BOMB and the cabbage is sooooo goooood. Portions were on point, flavor was savory and delicious! Will DEF be going back again! Suggest to order ahead so that you can pick up when ready rather than stand in line cause it can be a wait."
"I'm back again lol. Dude working the counter was super cool and food was delicious as usual. I'll be back lol"
"I'm born and raised in Miami, grew up eating a LOT of homemade Cuban food from several families. This restaurant immediately took me back to those authentic meals I grew up with. The service was excellent and the owners did so much to make sure we were taken care of. Best Cuban food in LA hands down."
"Lawd have mercy! Had to try this place after I saw it on Yelp. It is located on Strawberry Square and towards the middle of the shopping plaza. Area is a little sketchy but the food is bussin!!!! I was greeted by somebody's uncle or grandpa. The smells coming out of the kitchen felt like home, and i already knew the food was going to be IT. I tried the Brown Stew Chicken special. It came with Rice and Peas, Cabbage , Festival and A Plantain. The meat was soooo tender and fall off the bone. The rice was perfect, not sticky or anything. Cabbage tender and flavorful, , nice plantain. Now the festival deserves its own description because I usually don't eat the festival- others are hard and flavorless but THIS FESTIVAL WAS SO SOFT AND EDIBLE. It was so good.. I had to dip it in that brown stew gravy a few times oh my God. I can't wait to come back tomorrow to try their oxtail because This place is legit. It reminds me of the small shacks in Negril. Glad it is open!"
"Amazing oxtails, curry chicken and patties but even better service. The man who helps me and my family is so kind. I wish I could substitute other sides for the plates but the cabbage is a solid choice. The location is a bit rough but the food and service are excellent. Can't wait to go back!"
"I haven't had this good of a Roti since my visits to the greater Toronto area. Cute decor, small but very inviting with phenomenal service and the menu looks incredible. I had Mom's Curry Chicken Roti and an Oxtail and Pepper Patty(hand pie). I need to come back more and try the Vegan offering. Don't miss this place!"

Been waiting to try the infamous breakfast for sooooo long and finally got the opportunity to try & I am so glad I did. Everything was absolutely delicious! I had the Jammin Signature Cereal Crunch Breakfast with Strawberry Milkshake crusted French toast, chicken sausage, cheese eggs and potatoes service was great, food was delivered hot and fresh and everything was seasoned to perfection

My mom and I used to eat here often before I moved from CA. Now I'm back, and I'm so happy that the food is still really good. I got the curry chicken, mac, rice and peas, and cabbage. All were very good, and I truly regretted not getting a side of Yams for a sweet balance to the savory. The chicken was all thighs on the curry plate which was fine with me but just a note if that's not your thing. My mom got the jerk chicken plate and was pretty happy but preferred that the sauce be cooked heavily on the chicken vs served on the side. Pro tip mix the ginger pineapple with lemonade it's delicious! Friendly service, quick turnaround for food we ate there and still had half a container each of leftovers!

This place has the best Belizean chicken tamales in town. On the hand the other food can be inconsistent. I asked for a stew chicken lunch plate, it was a little tiny container overpriced. I asked the owner what happened to the lunch size containers they said oh we're out of them so this is the container.

1st? I walked about a mile from my hotel to this place. Hotel folks gave it good remarks.Got here; they sat me down; happy hour. Ordered a beer. Frozen glass, Ice Cold.... That's a win right there.Chips and Salsa? Served while your peruse the menu. Salsa made fresh on-site. Just enough heat to not make it over bearing; though I personally could use a wee bit more.Ordered a chicken fajita; let me tell you; the BEST I have ever had. I've traveled around the country; had them in many corners of the states; this was #1.I'm not into the nuances of food tastes; hints of this hints of that. I know what I like and I know of what I like is good; and this was superb. The hot sauce that I like? Used sparingly because of its extreme heat; added to the robustness of the dish. From the outside? You'd never expect it.Its worth your time, its worth the visit.I will be back for sure.....

Let me first start off by saying this line was crazy long!! When I pulled up, it was down to the opposite block! I'm not out here alot so I figured I should just wait. If there's a line, it must be worth the wait, right?! I waited 2+ hours before ordering! Then I waited for my food too. Good lord! My total time to wait and get my food was 2 1/ hours. I don't know if ANY food is worth that wait time. Ordered chicken curry plate and short rib plate. Paid $5 more for double mac and cheese. Options are rice and beans, cabbage, Mac. Comes with a drink. Total was $75 before tip. That mac & cheese was so amazing. It was so hot and gooey and flavorful. You can tell everything is made from scratch and super fresh. The chicken curry had such good flavor. The cabbage had some spice on it, which I really enjoyed as well. That short rib though? Baby! It was so tender and soft, and the gravy that it was cooked in was just immaculate. Finger looking good. I will definitely come back, but I gotta come when this place isn't as packed as it was because the total time spent when I first got in line to the time I got my food was three hours. That is insane. Definitely come during the week, and not during lunch or dinner rushes.

The food tasted good I just need to vent my frustration with everything else. I ordered takeout for delivery - I paid for extra festival which is labeled (5) meaning 5 pieces or so I thought. I received 3 pieces. - I spent 10.50 on a large fruit punch thinking it would be enough for 2 people. It was a medium sized cup. $10.50... I know inflation and blah blah blah but y'all a dead wrong for that. - I ordered the large oxtail and I don't see the difference between that and the small. I decided to splurge and treat myself after a long week and I've been bamboozled and led astray. $45 was my subtotal not including tax, fees and tip. $45 for oxtail, drink and 3 festival. You think you get nice up plate for $45. Think again.

"I was walking by and it happened to be lunch time. I saw someone setting up a nice outdoor sitting area and I figured let's give it a shot. I always like trying new places and more specifically new types of food. I ordered to go and was absolutely delighted with the taste, spice, flavors. Overall well balanced food, smells coming out of the kitchen are enchanting. Don't think twice, stop, place an order and expect to return, I will."
"I am very picky when it comes to Jamaican food in other states outside of Florida and New York cuz I've been disappointed before and Donna's did not miss! Take this from an actual Jamaican.. the curry goat was good! Rice and peas..Good! I'm so happy to have found true authentic Jamaican food in the LA area."
"Looking from the outside this place is a bit sketchy. I'm not going to lie I was nervous about getting out. The service was good and the food was very authentic. The jerk chicken was a little spicy for me but very good. You know it was spicy, if I said it was spicy, because I love me some spicy food."
"Grilled Fraiche's epic bowls are filled with so many delicious flavors. The house sauce alone is incredible. I got the Salmon with house sauce, garlic noodles, and extra plantains - always get the plantains! I also got the Chicken with house sauce bowl with jasmine rice, grilled veggies and mixed greens. Everything was so tasty and good -- the house sauce is now one of my favorites!Plus, one of the combos came with an amazing bread pudding! Really hit the spot. This place is such a gem, I'm glad I found them!"
"Fantastic mom'n pop home-cooked Jamaican food. Among giants as One of the best alongside The Satdown in Studio city (both are amazing, but far apart).Definitely the best place to stop by -- especially before a concert/game at the forum, youtube, Sofi. In walking distance too.Ordered the 'small' plate of famous jerk chicken.Slathered with the jerk sauce, eliciting a spicier taste packing a punch and wallops, but doesn't kill.Unlike The Satdown serving cuts of the breast, You're gonna get a half chicken or whole chicken (depending on your order) bone-on.The chicken pokey and wings have a nice crust char on some of its side. Very good.Very affordable, and definitely worthy of your hard-earned money."
"I really wanted a donut so I got the bread pudding here. 5/5 for the dessert! Thick, warm, chewy, not too sticky for the teeth, and filling! The crab cakes and garlic noodles are almost too flavorful for me (3/5). They nailed texture for both, but I can't have too many bites without taking a break. I think I'm going to add some leftover shrimp to the noodles and rice to eat with the cakes. The staff is always really nice when I've come so while this is not usual my go-to, it does satisfy my cravings and I'm never dissatisfied when I make the choice to come here!"
"I came by again this weekend, and the food is still amazing. I got curry chicken for my fiance, and he loved it. We normally get the jerk chicken, but we decided to try the curry, and whew! Amazing! You cannot go wrong with anything here."
"This place is the best Jamaican restaurant in all of Los Angeles!! The decor is beautiful and I feel like I'm in Jamaica!! The staff is super friendly and attentive and wow, best customer service I have seen in a while. The food is delicious and great portions! The jerk chicken is super delicious and their garlic fries are so good!! I also got a cocktail which was super yummy! It was a fruit punch one it was so refreshing! Thank you, Aja and the guy that was severing me he was super nice! I recommend this place to everyone!! I am so blessed to be at this establishment. See you guys soon!"
"I wanted to try Jamaican food for the first time and a friend recommended this spot. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Reggae Bread and it was pretty good, especially the Reggae bread! I also got the beef patty and that was delicious. I will say though, I felt that the person taking my order could've been nicer. The place is a bit small so I would take it to go."
"We were driving down La Cienega In Beverly Hills when we drove by Versailles and decided to have dinner. I haven't been here in years so it was a good change to have some Cuban food. This particular location is small with very little parking in the lot shared by other stores. Luckily we found an open meter right in front on a Saturday night. When We walked in, the staff was very friendly. We went around 6pm so it was a good number of groups in there but not too crowded yet. The Mexico vs Jamaica soccer game was on and the Latin music was playing in the background. Our waiter Jorge was very nice. He brought us our bread and water. We ordered mojitos which were better than the ones we had at the Cuban spots in Miami! I ordered the Garlic Chicken and my bf ordered the Vaca Frita (Sauteed Shredded Flank Steak). We also order the chicken and beef empanadas. Everything we ordered was delicious and very filling. The beef empanada was so good! I also loved the flavor of my garlic chicken that came with rice, beans, and plantains. The steak was also good and very flavorful. I'm glad we decided to go to Versailles, it's definitely a good choice when you're hungry and want something good, filling, and fresh!"
"It was my first time trying Belizean/Caribbean food, and it was amazing!! I ordered the fry chicken which came with rice & beans, plantains, and a side salad of choice (I got the potato salad). We also got a side of panades. The chicken was SO juicy that I didn't even need to use the sauce. The fry jacks had a hint of sweetness and surprisingly paired well with the chicken. The panades paired so well with the pickled onions. Everything came out fresh and piping hot.The inside of the restaurant had a "topical" vibe and the music being played was very fitting. The service was amazing, there was only one person working but he made sure to check up on our table several times. It was a long drive to get here but worth it. I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes!"
"It's been pre-covid since I last walked in here. Proceeded to order the jerk chicken patty & a small nl#47 detox with no Ginger or added sugar. And while the wait was a little over 15 to 20 minutes, it was well worth it. To me the bottom line here is you're coming here to have an enjoyable meal or drink, and good things take time. Congratulations to simply wholesome obesity and celebrated their 40th anniversary. I remember back in the day this spot used to be called The Witch Stand. Colonial solid experience."
"Stumbled by this place cause it was nearby and glad I got to check the place out. 1. Curry chicken - 52. Jerk bbq chicken - 4.53. Tobago Roast Chicken - 4.51. The curry was well cooked and full of flavor. The curry tasted like a mixture of Indian and Japanese curry. 2. The bbq sauce had a mixture of sweet and spicy. 3. I enjoyed the flavors of the dry rub. Support local businesses and the service was great. I'm coming back for their breakfast and dinner stews!"
"I've eaten here before and not totally been impressed but this is the first time I decided to do a review. FIRE FIRE FIRE!!! Jerk chicken, rice and beans, cabbage all fire!!!! Plantains were perfect as well with the end tips a little crunchy. Great job on getting me to come back."
"Food will come out slower than you'd expect from other restaurants, so I highly recommend ordering your food ahead of time if you don't want to wait. Limited outdoor seating and parking. We came a bit early for Saturday lunch and didn't have any issue finding either but there was a continuous stream of people coming to get food here. Overall, friendly service and good food. Both the jerk chicken and ackee saltfish were well seasoned and both matched well with a soda. The saltfish dish tastes like a cold weather or feeling ill kind of meal for me."
"Caribbean Soul Kitchen is truly a gem and no lie EXCELLENT Jamaican food. Came here the first time with my son and tucked into some brown stew!! Fabulous!! De bes home cookin!! The service is also lovely. You'll be greeted with a smile and excellent courtesy. Don't miss this one!!"
"I was visiting someone and got hungry. Wanted to grab and go. Simple and quick, so I stopped here. I wanted two beef patties, but after she said 5.00, I was like, let me get one just in case I don't like it. The beef patties were good, fresh, hot, and flavor was great! Oh, and it's cash only"
"YES I agree with all the other reviews 5 's this place hits!!! The food was fresh and every single thing that was served was seasoned to the bone. The owner and the person who works the front were exceptional. They came out and spoke with us, answered questions and even gave us free samples of their fresh squeezed juice. I plan on going back tomorrow to get some juice and of course, while there having another plate. Even though we came right before they closed I was very impressed to see how fresh and delicious the food still was. A friend who flew in with me is from Jamaica and he agreed the food was exceptional. They have a small table if you want to eat in, but it's really a storefront shop designed for grab and go."
"Need to get away from your typical burgers and pizza, this place right here hits your belly with nothing but homemade flava!.The awesome cashier suggested I get the oxtail plate I ordered it large. The sides were superb and very generously served. This place is more of a pick up and go as they do not have tables so be sure you get a few napkins. It's fairly new but I see this place becoming a hot spot for as long they keep adding love to their ingredients you can tell this place is made with love and quality. The place is very clean too so do not let the outside intimidate you. This was my very first time trying Jamaican food but it will not be my last. Thanks flava for an awesome experience!"
"We were in the mood for some Jamaican food and ended up at Island Reggae Kitchen. The interior is quite small with only a handful of seats for dine-in.There was single employee so service was a bit slow, but we ordered two lunches. I will echo other reviews that it did appear that some meals are pre-assembled and then just microwaved to heat, but that said, the food was very tasty. I am always a fan of oxtail, and the flavors here were very rich.I was a bit disappointed in the drinks though, they tasted very artificial. Prices were fair."
"I like the oxtails with rice & peas it's full of flavor plus they have the best chicken sausage and French toast around nice play to come get Caribbean Food.."
"The food was AMAZING!!!!! My party and I thoroughly enjoyed the food the music, the vibe & ambience of this restaurant is so dope. I highly recommend this place, the staff is very nice and the service was great. The only thing they should add to their menu is wine and alcoholic beverages. Also I want to add another suggestion, sugar free beverages should be available for those with diabetes because my mom has diabetes and there were no drink options for her other than water."
