"I've been craving Chinese food lately and had my eye on Wong's Kitchen, a spot I used to frequent as a kid. Sadly, on my recent visit, I learned that my high school friend Danny Wong had passed away and the restaurant had changed hands. Despite my skepticism, the quality of food remained impressive. The Kowloon dinner, featuring pork, fried rice, sweet-and-sour pork, and chop suey or chow mein, was reasonably priced. The fried rice, with its unique blend of seasonings, was as delicious as I remembered. The sweet-and-sour pork was still crispy and flavorful, even after a 20-minute drive home. The original chop suey and chow mein were just as good as before. Although the familiar faces were gone, the new owners seem dedicated to maintaining the tradition of excellent Chinese cuisine. I highly recommend giving Wong's Kitchen a try, especially considering the very reasonable prices.Enjoy!!!"
"The food was good! The service was ok! Very crowded! Some items weren't cooked yet so u get something else or wait till they bring more out from the kitchen! We even bought some for the grandkids."

"Drove down Lower Azusa and saw a banner that advertised the grand opening of TD Cafe. Decided to try it out with my parents and was pleasantly surprised with how busy it was on Saturday evening. The restaurant itself is fairly big with a good number of tables - about 85% of tables were filled when we walked in and there was a steady number of customers entering during our stay. We don't have too many HK cafes in the area, so I can see this place being busy. TD Cafe is located in the bowling alley plaza - there's been a lot of restaurants popping up, so hopefully this one is here to stay. Parking is not an issue - located in a fairly large plaza with a ton of parking space. Overall ambiance is nice - high ceilings, large space for people to meet and chat. The menu offers a good selection of Chinese dishes with lunch and dinner specials, several special combinations (comes with a drink and soup), as well as some Western dishes. Prices are pretty affordable. Not sure if they have breakfast, but they do have some items that are typically found for breakfast (kaya toast, French toast, HK style pineapple buns). Ordered the special combination of the clay pot rice with preserved meat, dry morel and chicken soup (the other more popular soups were sold out for that day) and an iced lemon tea ($18.99). The clay pot rice does take about 30 minutes to cook, but the wait time wasn't too bad. I really liked the soup - slightly medicinal, super warm and healing on a cold evening. Lemon tea was made well, but slightly on the sweeter side. As for the clay pot rice - I really enjoyed this dish! Came with a separate sweet soy sauce that we poured over the rice. There was a generous amount of Chinese sausage, preserved meats. I also enjoyed digging at the bottom of the pot for the harder rice pieces stuck to the bottom of the pot. Fried stick rice with preserved meat, dried mushrooms, dried small shrimp, peanuts $12.99. This was well made - good amount of ingredients, liked the chewiness of the rice, and the peanuts on top gave the dish a more fragrant and elevated feel. And we got the deep-fried pork chop with honey garlic sauce $11.99 - one of the lunch and dinner specials that come with steamed rice. For $12, this was pretty worth it. A good amount of pork chop pieces. Sauce was a bit cloying, but overall had good flavor that went well with the rice. They also gave some free garlic bread as an appetizer, which was appreciated. Honestly, this was a hit for me and I definitely will be back to try the Western dishes and the HK pineapple buns! Hoping that it continues to do well and become permanent in the SGV."
"ATLANTIC SEAFOOD & DIM SUM RESTAURANT is located in a complex with free underground parking. There was no line to get in, no line to get seated, and in no time at all, we had hot tea, water and the dimsum ladies crowding our table.Fast, delicious, accurate, friendly."
"Wifey wanted to try the noodle place next door and I spotted dim sum. Because of the price point it got me curious and since the noodle place was ok for me to bring dim sum over, here I am. It's located inside the Ralph plaza so there's an underground parking garage and also parking outside the restaurants. The place itself is not that big. There's 8 tables but some are for 6 while others for 2.I came around Monday 3:30pm and there's 3 tables filled. I was happy to hear the waiter and chef speaking Mandarin so right off i know it's authentic. I really like the spacious and clean kitchen. I ordered egg tarts, egg custard, scallops pork shrimp sui mai and chicken feet. Didn't want to order too much as I'm eating next door as well lol but def want to get a feel for the food here to see if there's a need to return if I'm ever in the area (it is close by my church). It took a long minute for me to get my food which was something im not use to as dim sum is suppose to be fast and quick and my noodles next door got cold by the time it was ready. So I tried the egg tarts first because that's usually a giveaway for me to see if they're actually legit and happy to say the egg tarts was legit. The sui mai was good with a whole piece of scallop on the bottom. Honestly they were all good and I'm actually down to come back to give other items on the menu a try.Service was very friendly. Next time I'm craving for dim sum in Hollywood, I'll be back here again. There were some seasonal items that looked interesting and also the desserts :)"
"First time trying Sunny Shine BBQ lunch special and it was pretty good! Their lunch special ends around 4pm so there's time after running errands on a Saturday to grab lunch. I've been to this place a few times to grab their chicken, BBQ pork, or roast duck. I remember their chickens were super plump and full of flavor. Meaning they were bigger than your Sam Woos; however time has changed. It's a good place to go if you're looking for BBQ roast pork or chicken. This restaurant is located in El Monte on Peck Road, right across from Ocean Bo (the place that sells dim sum) and Mana Tea House. The parking there can get really busy and the parking spots are really narrow. Especially during the lunch rush, the parking lot can get really packed. The service there is good, since I ordered to go I can't say about their wait service. Food comes out piping hot and smells so delicious. On this visit, I ordered Beef Chow Fun (dry style), Braised Tofu, Orange Peel Chicken and the Fish Filet in Black Bean Sauce. Also, as a bonus for their lunch special includes a box of complementary white rice. Most dishes on the menu are $9.99 or under.Overall it was a pleasant visit and the food was good. Especially if you're super hungry, it hits the spot just right. My only sad downside is that the boxes are not packed full like other restaurants. There was not a lot of fish filet in the Fish Filet Black Bean Sauce or a lot of chicken in the Orange Peel Chicken Dish. I guess times are tough and our dollars don't go as far anymore. The food is great, I just hoped for more food. The verdict, definitely coming back to try more dishes!"
"EVERY family gathering, seems like my older sister really likes this place. They provide such great service for our family and if not busy, they would give us the room as well. We usually order lots of items for a group of 8 and gets quite full here. The dishes that I love the most is the filet mignon and also their honey walnut shrimp !! I think this what's to be the best honey walnut shrimp I ever had compared to anywhere else. Trust me, I eat also of honey walnut shrimp dish! Beside this dish, we also got a fried fish which I really liked!I would also say the plaza is huge and parking is easy and if there isn't there's plenty of street parking and we didn't have any issues with it. I would also suggest to try their dessert that they give after the meal a bit sweet for me but my family loves it! Next time, I would want to try their Peking duck."
"I have ordered from Tian's 3 times in the last month. The easiest, tastiest option on Uber Eats right now! The pork buns! The salt and pepper tofu! The red bean pancakes! Holy heck everything I have gotten is just tremendous! It's really difficult to think of anything other than those soft, pillowy buns. Like I honestly might order again tonight it's so good."
"Lunch special restaurant! Portions are worth the price, there could be more finesse with the end product but you can't be nitpicking too much when the restaurant is setup to be known for lunch specials. Soup and rice is surprisingly included, not many restaurants include soup now. It was lotus root and pork broth soup on the day we went, it had a good flavor of lotus root.Dinner time rice and soup is not included. We had dessert bean soup included instead. Great value for dinner items, I would say restaurant is comparable to the level of Henry's Cuisine in Alhambra."
"OUTSTANDING. Fortune House is an old fashioned family-owned and operated hidden gem offering dine-in, takeout and delivery. Just try it. Thank me later! This restaurant went beyond the call of duty when helping my family and friends during the pandemic, I will never forget their kindness. Remember that one month when there wasn't a can of corn available in California? Or TP?! Or an egg?! We had to get creative and come together as a community to get through it. And we did! Enter Fortune House, a local hero for my family.;)When fortune House found out my elderly family member loved corn, this restaurant put together a special box (for optimum soup transport!) and assisted me in ordering huge takeout sweet corn soups for my happy members. Pro tip: order directly with the family here for the best deals, discounts and services. I love Cantonese special dishes here, everything is good. Generous portions. Delicate homemade sauces. Delicious family-style meals. Superb service. Try the Peking duck, braised vegetables, soft steamed dumplings, succulent char sui, hearty Cantonese soups and so much more. We lived together through a tough time together! The chefs, servers and family at Fortune House will ask me how my elderly family member is doing and I am delighted to say great and thanks in response. I've overheard the family offering great advice about the menu and the city in multiple languages to everyone else too. .At the beginning of the pandemic, we saw people promoting violence in our communities, sometimes while waving a flag, sometimes making a racist or hateful comment. I wanted to grab that flag and hand it to the people who were saving our lives and making our communities a better, safer and more welcoming place. Thanks for caring about my family and all of our families so much. We're really lucky to have you on our side! Five stars Fortune House. 多謝! (Thank you!)"
"Ive been coming here for quite some time. This is one of the restaurants you see in the movies. Reminds me of the restaurant from the movie, "A Christmas Story." This place is opulent in its unique custom decor and ambiance. Love it. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was unbelievably fast. I got the Mongolian beef and it was everything! I was most impressed. The waiter was super friendly and sweet. I love how they bring you a pot of tea immediately. I'll keep coming back for the good food and the decor that really gets my imagination going. Really love the chandelier. These types of restaurants are jems!!"

New Capital is a misnomer. It's more of a time machine that transports you back 30 years to the 90's, to the good ol' days of the golden age of dim sum in Southern California. Not only the food, but the decor is appropriately dated. Even the ripe age of the clientele mostly matches the surrounding. You do get the loud and aggressive hawking of the dishes from each of the staff jostling their carts to your table. The food tasted very good and definitely authentic. One bite is enough to transport you back to childhood memories of dim sum. The variety of selection is also impressive. I can guarantee you that you're unable to try all the items without bursting your stomach.Grab a table next to the large windows. The view of the mountains is magnificent. So take a stroll down memory lane and relive the glory of the dim sum past. Parking is also crazy, just like the old times.

Came here on a holiday, it was New Year's Day. Super packed. Waited about an hour. Got there at 11:30am, sat down @ 12:30pm, ordered. Didn't like that the food came out one by one but it's understandable because it was a very busy day. We waited forever for the shrimp har gow, it never came out. Asked them to check on it about 2-3 times. I kept seeing them serve it to other tables that came after us. Very upsetting. Service was not bad, the server taking care of us deserves a raise, he understood English and explained the dishes very well. Ordered dim sum mostly, was ok. Chicken feet was delicious! Didn't like the black chicken soup. And I forgot what the dish was called, but it had vegetables with century egg - didn't like that at all. Wouldn't recommend that. Didn't leave the place until 2:45pm.. since food took forever to come out. I've never spent over 2 hours while sitting & waiting for food. Probably would go back on a non holiday.. also the restaurant looked nice, I liked the big screens playing college football lol.

Sometimes I'm in full agreement with the Yelp ratings. Currently at 3.5, this describes my experience. I can't seem to round up to 4. TD Cafe is fairly new. Located in the middle of a plaza in El Monte, they're already wildly popular. I wouldn't describe this as an actual cafe. More of a seafood / HK style restaurant. Menu ranges from market price seafood, to your ubiquitous rice plates with chicken or pork chop, bbq items (which they seem to stop offering some already) and their lunch/ dinner specials at a low price, $12 a plate. I suspect this is what draws the huge crowd. That's what got us to come too. We were naive to arrive at 11am on a Sunday. The wait was 30 minutes for a table, and that's because a party before us gave up waiting and left. We placed our orders as soon as we sat down:Sautéed string beans. Compared to some other places, these were just OK. It was served with strips of pork and a slightly tangy but spicy sauce. 3/5Deep fried pork chop in spicy salt. Hot, crispy and delicious. Mostly lean and meaty pieces and nicely seasoned. 4.5/5French style filet of cod. Also delicious. Served deep friend and tossed in a mildly spicy sauce. A slightly bit on the salty side but pairs well with rice. 4.5/5Chili pepper beef: Remember that vintage 80's commercial, "Where's the beef!?" Yep, that's it. Mostly onions and peppers for color. The beef slices we got were overcooked and tough. 2/5Spam and egg sandwich w/ fries. I could've easily made this at home, but it's ok. Nothing special. 3/5Pineapple buns: I asked for the butter to be on the side. It came inside the bun, but they were served warm and so soft. After trying it,I still prefer it w/o butter. 4/5 The setup: Larger, family sized tables are towards the back of the restaurant. Smaller tables, 2 or 4 seaters are closer to the entrance. The ambiance: Pure chaos. Many Chinese folks are probably used to this but can be intimidating to others. The place is loud and you need to be aggressive to get a number, to get your table, place your order and to get servers' attention. It doesn't mean to be obnoxious, just don't be timid. They could've hired more staff, that way the tables turn over much quicker. Customers will be happier they got fed, people waiting won't stand around blocking everyone else, and higher turnover means more business for the restaurant and tips for the servers. The 'lively' vibe did not make for a relaxing meal. It was chaotic and stressful as people crowded near our table hounding the hostess, and the staff clearing the tables often had to yell 'excuse me!' Maybe after some time, the hype will die down a bit. Maybe not. But if you want to come, be mentally prepared. Side Note: They're able to reserve a table for large parties of 8-10. There's a station around the corner of the hostess counter near the entrance. There, you can get your own to-go boxes, utensils, straws, plates and napkins. It's faster than trying to flag someone down.

Atlantic Seafood and Dim Sum deserves 5 stars! Finally, a place with truly great dim sum where the flavors are perfectly balanced--not overly salty like so many other places.I love the egg tarts. The are perfectly flaky and just the right amount of sweetness. The shrimp rice paper rolls are a must-try, super fresh and flavorful. The har gow and shu mai (pork dumplings) are both top-notch--perfectly generous shrimp filling. Another standout is the chicken bun, which I prefer over their red BBQ pork bun. It's soft and delicious, with just the right amount of savory filling.I also like to order their Ham sui gok (fried rice dumpling that's shaped like a football) I usually order to go and I put them in my toaster oven along with the egg tarts.Overall, I'm so happy to have found this dim sum place. It's my new go-to, and I'll be back for more soon!

Roast duck is very tasty delicious reasonably priced, the soy sauce stirred fried noodles are good too.I recommend it. However, the lady cashier is pushy, rude, and impatient. she needs to learn to treat customers with respect and have patience with customers That's the one thing I don't like is the cashier. Food's delicious...4 1/2 .but cashier service is Rude.

I love this place. It used to be called "New Lucky" so im not sure if they completely changed ownership, and I do think the quality of the food used to be a tad bit better, but I still adore this joint and they have all the dishes that you can't always find in one place around the area. My top favorites are the honey walnut shrimp, pork belly w preserved vegetable, mapo tofu, and the scrambled egg with shrimp. Whenever I go I can't just get one thing cause I got to have it all there or at least some of it all ! Yes, all that food you see in the pictures was ordered for myself only because I told ya I love the food there and whats a hungry gal to eat? Im so glad they have all the Cantonese classics, as well as the luxury items like Peking roasted duck, lobster, and other seafood specials. And now I'm in the mood for the crispy pork. Also a great place for those Asian family dinners or get togethers

"Dinner Friday evening, 9/13/2024I thought this was a California-type Chinese restaurant. I confused this with Dan Modern Chinese. Anyway, Moon House is a regular Chinese restaurant. Service was basic. The interior was basic. No beer, no alcohol. The food was pretty good. We ordered 3 types of dumplings. I tried the fried one and another type.We also ordered their crispy chow meinAlso sauteed string beansAnd a steamed sole filet"
"Located in Diamond Plaza on Fullerton Rd. in Rowland Heights Garden Bistro is an Asian Fusion Hong Kong Style Cafe. The extensive menu has everything from steaks, seafood to chow mien and fried rice. It's very busy and even though our large group had reservations we did wait 15 minutes till they could get the tables put together. It was a family gathering during to holidays and the star of the lunch was my new grand niece. Can't give you a detailed description of all the different items that everyone ordered. The dishes that were within camera distance of my landlocked booth seat had a ribeye steak, scallop pasta, a breaded fillet of sole and a seafood bake over rice. The meal was good but the gathering is what really has the most meaning. Lots of take home boxes at the end of the meal. One knock, the tables are small so with every one ordering mains, appetizers, sides and drinks it was impossible to fit everything all at once. Service was ok. Parking is hard in the super busy center at meal time."
"Venturing beyond San Pedro, I discovered a gem of a Chinese restaurant with a serene ambiance and truly authentic flavors. The classics--curry chicken with potatoes, beef and broccoli, Chinese broccoli, egg drop soup, and white rice--were expertly prepared and deeply satisfying. Our server, Iris, was warm and attentive, adding to the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. A must-visit for those craving genuine Chinese cuisine. Thanks for reading"
"Oh my goodness, the orange beef here is to die for. If you love food, order this now. Why are you still reading!Okay, fine, so - first of all, this place is called Henry's because two dudes named Henry started it. I love that! They have such a huge menu that it was so hard to pick just a couple of items to try while having lunch with my friend over the weekend. However, we somehow dwindled it down to the orange beef and Viet style filet mignon. And don't get me wrong, the beef in the mignon was succulent and had great flavor to the dish. I'd get it again for sure. But, that orange beef was perfectly deep fried to a crisp crunch when I bit into it that snapped wonderfully between my lips. Plus soundly sweet savor sensations to the sauce with a tinge of spice, perfectly perfect over rice.I would describe the overall style as modern homestyle Cantonese cooking. But it deviates even from that in the best ways possible with so many options. Every dish at Henry's sounds so scrumptious. I'm going to be working my way thru all of them the rest of my days~!"
"Came here to grab some congee. When I got there, I found out that there is an actual congee combo and it's really reasonably priced! I would even say it's enough for two people of if you want to add some more menu items. The place was lively with a vibe of this is where everyone goes to for breakfast on a weekend morning. I was ordering to go - which is lucky because this place was seriously packed (Sat morn). The person I ordered from was great and walked me through the different options for the congee combo. I can also tell that they were meticulously preparing my Hong Kong milk tea. Just a great experience all around. I came here for dinner before and got some wonton noodle soup with their egg noodles. I thought it was really good and the place was really chill at that time because it was a week night. Upping my score because this restaurant is just all around great whether you want to come here for dinner or a group breakfast on the weekend."
"Sam Woo BBQ is a classic Cantonese BBQ institution. If you are in search of tasty Cantonese dishes, this is the spot. I grew up eating at Sam Woo and I have great memories from when my family would go to a Sam Woo after a road trip.Double Delicacy on Rice: This dish is 50-50 BBQ pork and roast duck. This is from the meat hanging in the display case at the front. The BBQ Pork (char siu) is thick and meaty, plump and tender, with a nice glaze. The roast duck is rich and seasoned with five spice powder. Cabbage on the side provides a nicely balanced meal.Wonton Noodle Soup with BBQ Pork: The wontons are plump and the wrappers are delicate. The pork fillings have plenty of fresh tender shrimp. On the first bite, the fragrant sesame oil flavor shines through. There are also crunchy little sesame seed bits in the filling. The egg noodles are perfectly thin, firm, and wiry. The BBQ pork is tender and tasty. The broth has a great balance between pork and seafood flavors.Dining area: The interior is modern with comfy booths and gold walls. Parking: The Lucky Plaza lot is large but swarming with circling cars."
"I regularly visit this bakery to get baked goods for workplace parties. They offer a variety of dim sum and bakery items at reasonable prices. Although metered street parking is available, the wait is typically short once inside the bakery. I recommend visiting this bakery when visiting Chinatown."
"Service: 4.5/5Ambiance: 5/5Food: 2/5 or 3/5Came here to try the following: Xiao long bao soup dumplings, 4/5 - good, but I've had betterJumbo Shrimp Har Gow, 4/5 - same, good but I've had betterBeef rice roll, 1/5 - terrible! The beef tasted artificial! Crispy Crab and Shrimp Claw, 5/5 - very unique, would try again! Chicken Feet, 1/5 - tasted extremely oily and stale. Would not recommend Braised pork spare ribs, 2/5 - again, very greasy and not much pork. Mostly fat. Wish I liked this place more but sad it didn't work for me! Parking is extremely convenient. The beef, pork, and chicken dishes were quite disappointing although the location, ambiance, and service was pleasant. Having Jeni's ice cream afterwards was redeeming though :)"
"Shame on us for stupidly partaking in dim sum or yum cha at this popular and former Michelin-star-awarded Chinese restaurant on Saturday, a typical Chinese Family Day, without making reservations! Our December vacation was quickly ending , and after stuffing ourselves with Taiwanese, Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, and modern Chinese cuisine, my husband and brother-in-law, who can eat Chinese food seven days a week, convinced me to agree to have dim sum or yum cha at Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant. Admittedly, I've had Sea Harbour restaurant bookmarked for several years and it didn't take much to "twist my arm" into agreement. I mapped our course and found that it would take us less than half an hour to travel 26 miles.Upon approaching Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, we noticed the outdoor walkway lined with people, but we still turned into the crowded parking lot, even though we suggested going elsewhere. However, we lucked out and got into a parking stall that someone had just vacated. We made our way to the restaurant's entrance. We felt like we walked through a gauntlet of hungry and patient customers before reaching the receptionist desk, where we checked in on the waitlist at 11:15 AM.The huge restaurant, with a capacity of nearly 300, looked like it was completely filled, and the staff expertly weaved and bobbed their way through the crowd, taking and delivering food and beverage orders. After waiting 30 minutes, we noticed there didn't seem to be much movement in the wait list even though several tables cleared. I noticed that I could have downloaded their reservation app but found that there wasn't anything available until 1:30 PM. We still maintained our positive outlook as we did see several parties who had checked in before us get seated. We liked their seating wait list and reservation process as we patiently watched the digital display while a female worker called out the wait list numbers by group size and check-in time. We waited slightly over two hours before our number was called, but we felt pity for the groups that had checked in after us.As soon as we were seated, our server, Gina spoke Cantonese, introduced herself, and asked us for a tea selection. I replied with our tea choice (heung pin or jasmine) and asked for glasses of iced water and Tsingtao beers for our group of three. She gave us the order sheet and pictorial menus and scurried to a workstation with our teapot, cups, and glasses of iced water. The menu featured famliar steamed, baked, pan-fried and deep fried dim sum dishes. We would typically order the "four Heavenly kings of dim sum," which are siu mai 燒賣, char siu bao 叉燒包, har gow 蝦餃, and daan tot 蛋撻. However, even though the menu and food photos distracted us, we still got them but enhanced by Sea Harbour restaurant.FOOD:- Jelly Fish Salad with Spicy Sauce -Deep Fried Smelt in Spicy Salt-Sticky Rice with Preserved Meats -Poached Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce -Bean Curd Skin Roll with Seafood in Abalone Sauce -Shrimp Dumplings (har gow) -Pork & Shrimp Dumplings with Truffle Sauce -Ginger Chicken & Pork Bun-Deep Fried Pork Sticky Rice Puff-Assorted Seafood Fried Crispy NoodleOur food and beverage bill came up to nearly $150 with tax and tip but the flavors, varieties, and amount of food that we ordered were well worth the nearly two hour wait. Gina made us feel welcomed and was very attentive without being intrusive. She provided us with service that we're not usually accustomed to at Chinese restaurants in Honolulu, elsewhere on the Mainland, or abroad. We'd gladly return to Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, but when we do, I'll make dining reservations."
"Quick recap of our order: Hot and sour soup 4/5Honey walnut shrimp 4/5King crab 3 ways- HK style 4/5- Steam garlic with vermicelli 4/5- crab fried rice 3/5Beef and mushroom 3/5Ong Choy 4/5Fried intestine 4/5Red bean tapioca desert 5/5 -----Came to check out their promotion on king crab, it's $29.99/lb. Arrived for an early dinner and there wasn't much of a wait, we were able to be seated fairly quickly. The wait staff was attentive and provided an exceptional experience for us. Will definitely be back to try more!"
"Haven't been here in four years and the food is still delicious as always. We came very early so it wasn't busy but the service was great."
"Besides the fact that you get a little thirsty after the food (so there's def a heavy amount of MSG), this place is delicious and you know it's good when it's only got cantonese families eating here.We got the bbq pork, tung choi with garlic, scallop egg white fried rice, a fish fiilet pot. I would easily order everything again except for the fish fillet pot (mostly because of the amount of bones we had to deal with).Everything had SUCH GOOD WOK HEI and the parking wasn't awful to find which is always much appreciated. By the time we sat down, there was a small line that started forming so we got lucky! Next time, I definitely want to try their sweet and sour pork and salted fish fried rice!!"
"Delicious Dim Sum in BH, this place pleasantly surprised me. Came in with low expectations because there's not a wide variety of good Chinese restaurants on the West Side but this place blew my mind. All the dishes were good except for the fried squid - it was too salty for my liking. However, the place is clean and the service is good. The flavors for each dish were well-balanced and authentic, the XO rice paper rolls were my favorite followed by the bok choy steamed in broth. The broth was aromatic and flavorful.Parking is a pain on La Cienega but they have a lot next to the restaurant and they validate for the first two-hours. Cash only."
""Thou shall not gatekeep." - The Good Book (of Yelp)If you've ever been driving around the west side, craving some good Chinese food but don't know where to go - look no further! Hop Woo offers a wide spread of authentic Chinese dishes at very affordable prices. From soups, to veggie dishes, and of course - meat dishes (lamb, pork, beef, chicken) - they've got you covered!Their ambiance got a nice upgrade over the past few years, with their bathroom game receiving a nice lift. Service is consistent (don't knock them because of the decor and grade - iykyk), and very fast turnaround on dishes - even when they're crazy busy.If you haven't eaten here yet, get on it before this hidden becomes a hot spot!"
"One of my favorite OG Chinatown spots. The food is consistently good and they're open late (1am)! Service is quick and efficient and food comes out fast. Some of my favorites here include the pork chops with spicy salt, shrimp with spicy salt, clams with blackbean sauce, sautéed string beans and house style lobster. They have large tables and can accommodate big groups. My family has been going here for over 30 years. It's one of the few original Chinatown spots that's still going strong."
"I like this location over the Pasadena location. It doesn't have that tired rushed touristy feel. It's good for dim sum at the "not dim sum" hours. Cuz, you know, sometimes I want dim sum at other times besides Sunday afternoon. The siu mai are large! Almost double the size you might find on the yum cha cart, so order proportionally. You can also order in multiples: 4, 6, 10, pieces for some items like sui mai and har gow. They use a QR code for the menu and ordering, so, contact with waitstaff is limited. They are there of course to tend to you: bring tea, condiments, etc. but they do not take your order. They are attentive and responsive.I guess with this method of ordering, each person can order and pay for themselves, which may eliminate that fight that always occurs when the bill comes. Otherwise, one person will have to do all the ordering on their phone and be the one getting the bill.Place is nice, clean, and they have a couple private dining rooms.I found street parking, but I think there is a garage just behind them that is shared between residents and visitors of the multi use building. It may not be the ultimate dim sum experience, but it hits the spot and tastes great. We usually get: sui mai, har-gow, pork bao, diakon, and noodle rolls. The only time I've been disappointed with Lunasia was at the Pasadena location when they once ran out of some items. If Pasadena wasn't closer to me, I'd go to this location instead."
"We love this place. Definitely a place to take the family for Sunday lunch. It's the authentic way of eating dimsum with the ladies pushing their carts."
"After having this spot bookmarked very over a year, I finally had the chance to experience a dinner at Chifa. And wow, I loved everything about it.First off, I was dining solo and find that it can sometimes find a comfortable place to eat alone. I loved that not only were there tables for groups and 2 tops but high bar seating along the window for solo diners. The small space was cozy and the soft lighting really made the ambiance special.I traveled to Peru 2 years ago and couldn't get enough of "Chifa" restaurants -- this is a combo of Peruvian and Chinese cuisine. I ate at several places in Peru from the hole in the wall to the higher end versions. Chifa in LA is definitely on the higher end but very friendly and matches the quality of the meals I had in Peru.First off, the wine list is fantastic. I was so excited to see they had wines from Valle de Guadalupe, a lesser-known wine region in Mexico (just a 90 minute drive from San Diego). Not only that, but they offered a Cabernet Sauvignon from Vena Cava, the exact vineyard I go to every year with my partner and always stay at the winemakers home. The selection on the wine menu was incredibly unique and not the type of wine you'd fine at your local Giant grocery store, that's for sure!I was torn on my main entree since it all looked so delicious. I ended up going with the braised short rib. These were so delicious, though a little sweeter than what I'd usually go for. My thinking is that this place would have been absolutely amazing with friends or family to sample several items to combine the various sweet, salty and savory dishes. I would love to come back again with others to try even more. The short rib fell right off the bone and loved that they offered a wet towel to help clean off my sticky fingers. There is also a heated back patio if you like dining outside. But if you can, I'd recommend the main dining room for its incredible ambiance."
