"STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great middle eastern eats in a hidden part of downtown LA. While wandering around DTLA we spotted an interesting area called St Vincent's Court, a movie set-style European village built back in the 1950s in the middle of the Jewelry District. Originally it used to have more Italian businesses, but now it's primarily Middle Eastern. We strolled all the way to where the street ended, and spotted Mima's. An elderly gentleman who was dining outside on their patio saw us looking at the menu and told us they had a lot of vegetarian options (did we look that obvious? lol), so we decided to check them out. The atmosphere was humble but pleasant--definitely felt like a family establishment. We weren't super-hungry so decided to share a falafel plate, which was very good! The crispy-tender falafels were served with ultra-smooth hummus and tahini, pickled onions, and pita bread that was thinner and chewier than we were used to, but still good. The service was friendly and prices reasonable. The only offered bottled water, though, which seemed kind of weird, but not a dealbreaker. Would be down to check them out again the next time we're in the area."
"In Glendale, there's a myriad of choices for Greek / Armenian cuisine. This place is great. Their lamp and pork belly (Iqibir) are my favorites."

"This place was absolutely amazing. I suggest that anybody hasn't tried this. Go and enjoy! Possibly one of the best hidden gems ever in my culinary exploration."
"Hidden gem tucked away inside a strip mall.Had a hard time finding the place since GPS said we had arrived but we did not see the restaurant and later found out its tucked away behind the right side of the mall. Not sure if it was becuase we got there closer to closing time but there was no space to eat inside. We ordered pork ribs and combination lula kabob. FYI this place is CASH only! I heard that they make their onw charcoal there. We were in Glendale to pick up my phone from Samsung and friend of us suggested to try this spot and I am glad we did. Its a must eat spot if you are in the area. Full of flavor and surprisingly lot of food comes in your order. At first I thought it was slighly overpriced but we had leftovers afterwards.Just wish they were closer to where I am but this would be my spot to go to whenever I am near Glendale."
"Charming and quaint little place with nature and wood inspired design with clay bowls and cups - really sets the old country and rustic vibe serving comfort international food. I ordered the lentil soup and lamajun and tan (homemade yogurt drink). The lamajun was excellent. It had a distinct taste. I believe they added cumin to the meat. And it's cooked in a wood fire oven. Lentil soup was also great. But I suggest a tad more salt, maybe adding some celery and carrots with some dried mint to add more flavor. Will tell my parents to try this place with their friends."
"Cool hidden gem!Located away from the Americana area near Glendale's post office has this neat place known for their Zhengyalov Hatz which is essentially flatbread with herbs and other greens in it.Ambiance was very nice but it seems like most people just buy it for to-go. They were quick with getting my order and make it in front of you.My only gripe is that I don't think the Zhengyalov Hatz justifies $7.99, but I would definitely come again considering not many places serve this!"
"Made me feel like I'm back in the old country with their perfect selection of international grocery goods and menu of yummy sandwiches and meats in a tiny market that somehow makes room for a sit-down area. This basturma is legendary!"
"Our second visit and it was as good as our first visit. It is not in a main restaurant area, so you will need to look for it. The Armenian Salad was deliciously fresh. The pork BBQ was the best meat we had, followed closely by the lamb chops. The chicken breast was very good but lost out in a tough competition. We added Fries which are slices of potatoes, not French fries. They were not greasy and seasoned very nicely. And we had the Adjarian Khachapouri again, because we could not pass up this mouth watering delight. A sumptuous mix of bread, cheese , egg and spices. Add in a clean patio for dining, a friendly and attentive owner, and it is not to be missed."
"Food was good but a little salty, service was outstanding, Milena is very friendly, nice person. Just because of her great service we will come here again. Thank you guys!"
"Prices went up significantly (that's understandable) BUT the portions got smaller. The assorted khpali were not this small eight months ago. And the beef kebab ($28) was very tender back then. Today after the drive home from Glendale, there was barely any moisture in it. And the beef pieces were smaller and they provided a lot less tomato sauce with it. Very sad. The khachapuri was great. I popped it into the oven for a few minutes and it came out the way it did when it was freshly baked. The savici was a much smaller portion too - but don't get me wrong, that walnut sauce is life. For the assorted khpali appetizers, beef kebab, savici and khachapuri, I was charged $96 (should've been $92 but they included a card charge). I wish I could say it was worth it but I can't lie. The experience of eating their food was lacking this time around. Not even their super cool, super nice waitress whom we love could make up for it."

Amazing authentic Mediterranean food (Armenian). Side of delicious green olives, babaganoush, Greek salad with feta. All had incredible spices. 2 people had the chicken kabob with side salad and loved it. Pita bread on the side. A hidden gem. Also delicious grapes leaves. Different spices than Greek grape leaves

Was told Glendale has great Armenian food, so I found Tava House on Yelp. I decided on the Beef Shaurma wrap, and the staff encouraged me to try a traditional beverage of rose water. Everything tasted wonderful, and I highly recommend. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. I'll be back again to try more menu items.

Absolutely LOVED this place! I felt like I was having delicious Lahmajo in Yerevan. The entire place, music, art, service made me feel like I was back in Armenia. Lahmajo is huge and delicious although a bit light on the meat (because it would be too much to cover that huge thing in meat!).Krjik and lentil soups were delicious. And Summer (Amarayin) Salad was just like what you enjoy in Armenia - simple and delicious. Would absolutely come back here.

The vibes and food here were amazing! I'll definitely be coming back to dine in.I love that this spot is just off downtown Glendale but not on the main street, making it much easier to find street parking.Inside, it's super cozy with cute decor and about 10 tables. The staff were friendly, and the food came out quickly.I ordered the zhengyalov hatz and chicken shawarma, and it took just 8 minutes to be made fresh on a Friday evening. I wasn't expecting the food to feel so light! The zhengyalov hatz was absolutely delicious--the flatbread was airy and fragrant with herbs. This was the perfect amount of food for two people to enjoy a light dinner, and it was only $24. Very affordable for an LA restaurant! I'll definitely be back to try the baklava and drinks next time.

Great Basturma, Sucuk, and Makanek! The gentleman can be a little short, and sometimes grumpy, but the food the make is worth it! They still get four stars.

The best local neighborhood Mediterranean food. Everything is fresh, made to order. The pork ribs are my favorite. All dishes are seasoned perfectly. Must try

"I have been a huge fan of Raffi's Place for years! I have spent birthdays, Valentine's Day, or just a casual meal when we're craving their food here! The food is just delicious and the restaurant is inviting except for the insane wait, even on the week days. No reservations accepted. I've been here a handful of times but the time that left the most memorable time was during my birthday and our WAITER was JOSE. He was always smiling and patient with my table party of 6. Seems like we all have different taste buds and he took his time to explained everything to us. He was very attentive and definitely made our night very memorable. I've only had him once. I'm hoping we can bump into him again and have him as our waiter but haven't.This is by far one of my favorite Middle Eastern/Persian restaurant and I drive nearly 45 mins to come enjoy their food and ambiance.I think their food is the most authentic Persian food you can find in LA. Our favorite is most definitely upgrading your meal with the sour cherry rice ( Albaloo Polo)! So flavorful and with a little sweet and tart flavor and definitely compliments the beef soltani, barg kabobs, koobideh, lamb Chops, and salmon kabob. Complimentary Lavash bread, butter, and onions. Make sure to sprinkle some small seasoning on there, so good! For appetizer, I love the eggplant dish, ( the hot one not the eggplant dish) Kashk O'Bademjan- Caramelized onion and kashk (whey) served on a bed of fried eggplant. Delicious!Valet parking is $10 or a short walk next building is a public parking structure building for free 90 mins parking."
"Atmosphere both inside and on the patio was superb. Food was fresh and surprisingly pretty well priced. I did have an issue with the fact that they charged an automatic 20% gratuity. Had I had an option, I wouldn't have tipped 20% due to an issue I had with a sea bass I ordered but it wasn't a deal breaker."
"First time here. Trying Dine LA event. This place was a wonderful surprise. A little while in the wall place, in a small shopping mall. The service was super nice and neighborly. The food was ON POINT and plentiful. We definitely got our monies worth and more. I highly recommend this place and I definitely will return for more deliciousness!!"
"So glad I found this place! Food here was so delicious and also there was someone playing piano live - such a lovely dining experience. I ordered the lule combo which was delicious. The meat was packed with flavor and the salad on the side was really fresh. Portion sizes were generous too. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend checking it out!"
"Been coming here for years and I can't believe I've never written a review. Marouch is a Lebanese restaurant with the most amazing food. They have tons of vegan options and of course non vegan options which my husband enjoys. But since I'm vegan let me list off my favorite dishes! Their Full Mudammas live in my dreams...fava beans seasoned to perfection, the Muhammara also another favorite of mine and you can't go wrong with their hummus. All enjoyed with their freshly made pita and complimentary pickled veggies. For my entree I love their Moujadara which is a delicious mix of lentils and rice. Ooh also you have to get their garlic sauce....Zankou could never! They also offer beer and wine. Service is always welcoming and friendly. Extra points for having a parking lot right out front."
"This review is long time overdue. Been coming here for years when I go to the Jewelry district by far best Mediterranean food of all downtown Los Angeles. Refer people to go there all the time.Brandon with 2DayBlinds-Gardena"
"The food and service were excellent. We had a medley of kebabs and appetizers and they were all very tasty. Our waitress was wonderful and she made the experience very pleasant. Will definitely go back."
"MUST TRY!! My husband and I tried the beef lule plate. We also got the eggplant caviar. Both were solid and soooo good. I don't know what they put in their rice but I can eat that every day. There isn't anything negative I can say about this place. Maybe more seating? The main guy that takes your order is so nice. He always converses with everyone. It's the small things."
"Brought my friends here to try and it was one of my friend's first time to try Shawourma and she was not disappointed. The three of us enjoyed our meal. The meat was tender and not chewy, yet kinda crispy for a slight charred sides that complimented well. Each order was very fulfilling, one can get out two meals from one plate. I had the French roll, it was a good different experience eating the meat, onions, tomatoes with a French roll than a pita bread. The falafel balls were a big bite sized crispy on the outside but not dry on the inside that paired well with taziki sauce. The only thing I didn't like was that the bread was a bit too charred for my liking, next time I'll ask for lightly toasted. Also, parking can be kinda tricky but there is a small parking lot available. We will be back and bring our friends. Thank you Tony for your kindness and great food!"
"Yum yum yum. Had a wonderful experience at Mantee cafe! The food was delicious. The service was phenomenal. The Malbec wine was the perfect blend with every entree. My favorite dish was the signatute Mantee. If you have not been, I am telling you it is time now."
"I dined with my husband at the restaurant after the Nova Music Festival exhibition in Culver City. We were very pleased with our dining experience there. The environment was nice and decorated with Russian souvenirs. The hostess was friendly (do not take her serious face as a bad service - she will warm up to you and perform a great service)We were given the complimentary salad along with the bread after we did the orders The beer was great - I got Kalik (lager beer). We ordered the entree that comes with soup (we got borscht along with sour cream and black bread). I got Chicken La Kiev and my husband got the beef stroganoff. Mashed potatoes were good. Vegetables were decent. We also got Napoleon Cake (great one!) aliong with espresso.Pretty great food with great service. We were happy we came there for a dinner before we went home outside of LA. ;-)"
"I was excited to try Russian style dishes, and we had kebab, dumplings and salad. For drink we had yoghurt drink which tasted pretty good but it was expired way before ling time ago which we didn't notice while drinking. I don't know why they were selling expired items. The food was okay, little bit salty and the salad (cucumber with yogurt) was good. My 3 star is for the drink we had which was expired."
"I called and placed an order for their Tonir plate which serves 5 to 7 people on Wednesday and before I tell you how amazing the food, the generosity, the service and the staff were let me tell you they use quality meats because I warmed up the leftovers today And they still tasted amazing. Must try this place. Best Armenian kebab in Burbank. Hands down. Ask for Margaret. She's so sweet. She gave me a free appetizer for my birthday then surprised me by not taking money for the entire order. A giving business is a growing business. Always give to grow. Be generous with your staff, your budget and your customers and you'll never stop growing. Keep serving Armenian hospitality like no other. Thank you."
"Excellent food and service humble people great place to eat they treat you like family"
