We love this little Ethiopian restaurant and market. It is on Fairfax Blvd. near other Ethiopian places and it is most certainly a hidden gem for those that don't know this area well. The place is super cute and has been around since about 2011. When you first walk in you will see the wonderful, but small market. They stock cultural gifts and have the best biscotti (rectangular biscuits with nuts originally from Italy), spices, incense, lentils, and many teas. The spices your need to make food at home they have. If you don't want a meal they also have the best coffee. 'Buna,' means coffee in Ethiopian. Their coffee is amazing and not like anything you will find at Starbucks. Whether you are just there to shop or to dine you should try the coffee. Now, the food is always our reason for going there. It is the best. You can get take away, I think they deliver as well, but we always like to eat there. The dinning area is not huge, but there is usually a spot. We love the service there. The owner is sometimes there and all the servers, there are just a few, are the best. They know everything about the food and if this is your first time trying it, they are ever so helpful. You will love them.Try their chicken. It is made with crushed fava beans and garnished with fresh onion, jalapeño pepper, sour cream, fresh tomato and served with the best French bread. We also love their firfir which is beef made with hot spiced beef stew tossed with ingera. The Zil Zil Tibese is also a favorite made with strips of tender beef sautéed with butter, onion, jalapeño pepper and wonderful spices. Their salmon and beef stew are also great and there are a couple of ways to have that and it is made clear on the menu. For dessert you will love their Baklava. Parking is on the street, mind the signs.Try it!

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I was pleasantly pleased with the my food options. I got the crispy lamb tips and the tomato salad were delicious. The seasoning of the crispy lamb was so delicious that I will just order it alone. The cabbage, carrots and potatoes- great flavor! I loved the restaurant artifacts and had a warm vibe. Customer service was superb and the gentleman that took our order (don't know if he was the owner) took his time to explain the menuI will definitely be back.

Always good food here! This place is so unassuming, but the best spot in Little Ethiopia. We order the vegetable platter with beef stew every-time we come, the lamb is good as well! Don't go to the larger restaurants, give this place a shot and it will quickly become your "go-to" place for Ethiopian. Also, service is not rushed, so be sure to come with enough time to enjoy your meal.

Buna Ethiopian is a small market, cafe and restaurant in Little Ethiopia supplying traditional Ethiopian meals, coffee and groceries! Parking is street parking onlywhat i ordered- veggie combo (miser wot - split lentil, kik aletcha - yellow split peas, collard greens, green cabbage, shiro wot - seasoned chickpea flour blend, tomato salad) 9/10!! my favorite was the kik aletcha and miser wot- meat combo (yesga wot - beef stew, yebeg alich wot - lamb stew) 9/10 & everything was so delish, i preferred the beef over lamb but they each were amazing- comes with injera and we also ordered some rice i dont typically get to eat Ethiopian food but i honestly wish I could more!! very flavorful and i loved eating the diff veg and meat combos w the injeraits a small space inside but i would love to come back! i rly want to try their fish or doro wot (chicken leg stew). also their tea smells so good and they do an Ethiopian tea ceremony so im DEF coming back

My significant other is Habesha and she tells me that she doesn't care about Yelp reviews of Ethiopian restaurants because Ethiopian people don't reviews haaaa well I'm not Ethiopian and here I am writing a review. Fortunately, she agrees with me that the food here is delightful.A small, yet charming establishment in Little Ethiopia. I've tried a lot of Ethiopian food in this city and I have to say this sits firmly in my top 3. Lots of varieties of tibs to choose from which are all mouth watering to think about. Awaze (this has tomatos in it which I guess isn't always the case) and derek tibs last time were so good. Veggie combo is a must order every time, I promise the flavors are bursting. I don't eat tiresega because my stomach isn't used to it but I'm assured this is also delectable. I found the service to be quite friendly. Feels family oriented and home made. Love it.

My first experience with Ethiopian food. I'm hooked! The ambiance of the restaurant felt really cozy; it didn't feel as if I was in a restaurant but rather that I was a guest at a relative's home. This atmosphere was created by the unique artwork, Ethiopian music on the speakers, and personable staff which made me feel at home. My cousin and I had the Gored Gored and Doro Tibese combined to family-style. The injera (flatbread) used to eat the meats was soft and spongey, a satisfying texture. The beef from the gored gored was tender and lemony; the chicken from doro tibese was spicy and zesty. Overall, this set the bar high for what is to be expected from Ethiopian food.

I recently checked out this Ethiopian restaurant in Little Ethiopia, North Hollywood. With so many choices around, it was tough to decide, but this one stood out because of its great reviews and reasonable prices. The place is cozy, with about six tables inside a small market. I tried the fried trout with six types of veggies for $21.99 and the awaze tibes, a spicy marinated beef dish, for $18.99. Both were flavorful and generously portioned for two.The service was great, frequently checking in and offering additional injera. There's street parking which can be hard to find on a busy street like Fairfax. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who's craving Ethiopian food!

The food was amazing! We ordered the veggie combo with a side portion of the meat combo. Very well seasoned and flavorful. The meat was also super tender! The portions sizes are also great! The guy running it also has amazing customer service and was nice. The place itself is very small and intimate which we liked. They also have a market in there where they sell authentic Ethiopian goods. Parking however is a nightmare but we will definitely be back for the food.
