Came for a friends birthday. Great views of downtown! It was overall fine just overpriced but that's LA for you.

Great spot if you enjoy colorful aesthetics! There are definitely some appealing photo ops here. Even the restroom is cute for a mirror pic. The pool area is a bit small but it does seem to get a bit crowded during the day. The staff is attentive which is nice. The menu is super overpriced but the food was good. I really enjoyed the fried fish tacos. But they were not something that should be priced at $18. I also had a lemonade which was very good! It didn't taste like the fountain machine Minute Maid which I appreciated. However, it's $6 for a pretty small amount.

My bestie and I decided to stop at Broken Shaker before heading to an event nearby, and I was super excited because I've heard wonderful things about it. It was definitely a stunning rooftop, perfect for viewing the sunset across the LA skyline and not too packed for a Thursday at 7pm. I will say that we missed happy hour (we knew we weren't going to make it, nbd), so that may be why it was so easy to get a table. Quick summary to explain the 3 stars, and then I'll add details. Service was great, Ambiance was great, but when it came to the food, I was a bit let down. We were served one incredible dish, and the rest was lackluster. I'd go back just for the twice fried chicken wings, and the drinks were fine, but those items weren't enough to save the meal. Oh you came for DETAILS? SURE! So I ordered the sangria and my friend got the house cocktail which she said tasted very nice, it was a lovely pineapple concoction. They were good drinks. We also ordered 3 items to split - the twice fried chicken wings, the fish tacos, and the Carne asada fries. So I like a dry wing just fine, but I rarely order them because some establishments can't do flavor without sauce. This was not that. These were AMAZING. Whoever seasoned these wings was masterful - we demolished them and the gochujang sauce and yuzu ranch they came with. Incredible. I'm craving them as I'm writing this. So imagine my disappointment when I bite into a fish taco next and just taste nothing. Just bland. Why? You did SO WELL. It was such a boring fish taco. The two items were the same price but so different. So then I thought, surely the $26 asada fries would be redemption? Boy, was I wrong. Soggy and limp, plus it was clear they were not fresh, AND there was definitely not $26 worth of steak in there, but I'll let it go... at least the guajillo salsa tasted nice. Great start, sad finish. I will say that an 18% gratuity is included automatically, which I totally support, and the server circled it so we knew what we were paying for. It's a nice touch, and the service was great, so thank you. Sorry, I didn't like your fries or your tacos, but your chicken was legendary.

Quite appreciative of Karla and her services. She smiled the entire afternoon as we enjoyed business and personal conversation. The drinks were well prepared and the food was hot, tasty, and prompt! We were so pleasantly surprised at this little rooftop gem. It was just what we needed: bright colors, island style decor, and a nice amount of privacy. Recommendable to park at 747 Hill Street lot

Stopped by Saturday afternoon for a drink before dinner got the guavafornication and archipela go. I was betwee the bikini mai tai and the archipela go and the waiter said he likes the archipela go better although he said the Mai tai is one of the most popular drink. I really liked the archipela go. It was very passion fruit forward. The guavafornication did have a kick. Pretty tasty drinks. Service was good and friendly. FYI they add a 18% service charge on the bill.

Loved coming here for happy hour on a Tuesday! Easily got a lounge chair and serviced immediately. Pool wasn't over crowded and the giant rubber duck float/raft was fun to lay on. The music was very tiki bar style and the drinks were tasty and strong. Still a bit pricey in my opinion, but worth it if you're celebrating something and want to relax in a slightly bougie way.

Was in DTLA and looking for a casual rooftop to get some drinks and hang out so decided to stop by Broken Shaker. Parked in a nearby lot for $10 which was decently priced and headed to the rooftop. Drinks 2/5 Two of us ordered Roman's revenge which was supposed to be a dragonfruit margarita and one of us ordered a mai Thai. The dragonfruit margarita was absolutely nasty! Zero taste of dragonfruit. It was straight up alcohol, ice, and lime juice. My friend and I barely could finish the drink. My friend who ordered the Mai Thai seemed to enjoy it so she got another one. Food 3/5 Ordered chips & guac and carne asada fries. The fries was a decent portion and pretty flavorful with a good amount of meat. The chips & guac was so sad. There was so much chips for the little guac. Service 3.5/5 Although our server was nice and friendly, he didn't really check on us. Price 2/5 The carne asada fries were absolutely not worth $26!! Each drink was $18 which is up there in price but flavor was average or below average, the presentation was whatever, and they were not very creative. They also added an automatic 18% service charge which we were not made aware of initially! OverallWould not come back given how many other options are available in DTLA

This was my first time at this rooftop bar in DTLA and i had such a fun experience! The views are absolutely beautiful at night where you can sit by the poolside and listen to jazz music. This rooftop bar is so cute and had a bohemian vibe to it. Our server was super friendly and patient with us as we navigated through the menu. He recommend us everything we ordered and we loved each item! It's a great place to dress up or down as people came in different outfits! Id definitely come again to enjoy the food, drinks and view!

Broken Shaker is Freehand's rooftop bar with great scenic views. It has a small bar about six seats but there is no lack of cozy little seating areas to choose from. There is also a large pool with lounge chairs. The vibe is tiki like with twinkling string lights that make it relaxed yet festive. The night I went which was rather cool but not unpleasant if you had on a jacket was actually nice because it wasn't overly crowded. Staff was hanging out and being friendly. Drinks were on the moderate side price wise but know that they have a service charge built in so there is no need to tip unless you feel that compelled to.

Definitely, my go-to rooftop bar in DTLA. The view from the rooftop is beautiful. The skyscrapers are close but yet far away so you are able to appreciate the beauty of DTLA.Broken Shaker's comfortable bohemian vibe is worth going to. And the tables and chairs are spaced out nicely which is great because you're not susceptible to hearing other people's conversations closeby. The bar area is small and seats about five people, but I've never had a problem getting at least two seats. The cocktails are always made well.
