Boss Sushi checked all the boxes. Good sushi, fast and friendly service, my group had no complaints. We came here before a concert at the Saban Theatre, easy walk, just around the corner. We did find the 6oz. draught beer served in a champagne glass to be humorous. They also have multiple signs at the front door warning of NO STROLLERS ALLOWED, which for no particular reason gave my group a good laugh. Mind you, someone came in with a stroller and did not get reprimanded, except by our table (me) who loudly said, "NO STROLLERS PLEASE."This spot will address your sushi cravings.

Enjoy the sushi bar, cause it checks all the right boxes... fast and friendly service, good quality food, decent ambiance, reasonable pricing. Whats not to love?

I would say this place is straddling a 3/4. I think the sushi quality is pretty good but it's also expensive. $20+ for 8 pieces of super thinly sliced sashimi that tastes fine (not melt in your mouth or fresh beyond belief) seems a bit steep. The staff here is super friendly and there are lots of great options, it's just pretty expensive for what it is for me. Nice ambiance and good to go if you want sushi in this area.

Very excited to have access to a high quality Sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. Chef Tom and his staff are very experienced and attentive, the sushi selection is broad, and they have good happy hour prices on beer! What more can you ask for? We will certainly become regulars!Did I mention the Sushi is high quality

Pricey sushi bar serving alright sushi with inattentive service all set with dated ambiance. I was hoping to like this spot more, but just can't get behind it. Upon walking in, you feel like you're stepping back 10 or more years... fake plants and flowers, older carpet, stark lighting... Service was fine, you're not going to see your waiter a lot, but what bugged me is when our waiter removed my cocktail before I had finished it. Let's get to the food. Highlights were the deconstructed spicy tuna/crispy rice and salmon sashimi, what didn't work were the crab cut rolls (oddly warm) and the tuna cut rolls. Very basic, not that great. While nothing was bad, when you're paying almost $150 for sushi, you expect to drool over something and none of these items did that for me.

My friends and I come to Boss every few months and it never misses! The food quality is always excellent and the staff is always lovely. During our last visit, we each had 10 pieces of sushi, plus a specialty roll of our own (the oh tania and nate blonde rolls are a must try!) and the total bill came out to $231 and a few cents. Considering the location and quality of the food, the price is quite reasonable. Can't wait for my next visit!

Boss Sushi is the best. Such great food; so delicious and savory, and the chefs are engaging as they prepare it in front of you. Service is typically prompt and friendly, and the overall ambiance is quite nice for a date or relaxed semi-formal gathering. There is a city parking garage next door that has free two hour parking. I highly recommend.

Boss sushi continues to impress and amaze me with their food. I've been going when they first opened and I frequented sushi kokyo where Tom worked previously. The kitchen is extremely talented and consistent with their dishes and even their miso soup and salad are prepared with subtle but delicious depths of flavor. Their salad is tasty, generous and dressed with a flavorful sweet shoyu ponzu dressing with enough acidity to tempt your palate. My absolute favorite go to dish is the tuna tartar served on a paper thin fried wonton chip, topped with multi color tobiko and a mix of two sauces. I think the sauces are red pepper and mango and then a kind of creamy sauce. They put different sauces on each piece and it leads to pleasant variety to your bites. Trust me they know what they're doing with that dish and I personally enjoy it more than the crispy rice trend.Expert advice, don't let it sit too long or the wonton will become soggy. The spicy tuna itself is the best I have ever had and it just screams quality and balance of flavor.I ordered the spicy citrus roll, it was really tasty, it had practically a full salad, and spicy tuna with sliced white fish (maybe tai snapper) on top. The sauce is truly bright and full of citrus and the salad dressing with bright vinegar notes and strong umami sesame builds underneath your palate makes devouring the entire roll a breeze. My dad is a fan of Unagi (eel), and the Unagi sushi is hands down, he swears it, the best he's ever had. Tom prepared it himself, toasting and using the blow torch on the unagi to give it crispy grilled vibes and hits it generously with his unagi sauce. If you're in the area, make a trip over. I eat there every time when I am in LA and often will go multiple times. I've never had a bad meal and the waitstaff and kitchen are top notch, super attentive.Love you, Tom! Open up a Boss Sushi in the San Francisco Bay Area. No one is as good as you guys are there!

I never visit L.A. without dining at Boss Sushi. My friend Bruce is responsible for creating a number of items on the menu. Tonight, we feasted on Bruce Burgers, Super Bruce rolls, Shrimp Scampi rolls (all Bruce's creations), chef's choice sashimi, tappanyaki mushrooms, Japanese Roll, and mochi for dessert.
