First off: service: warmly greeted. The door was open and the hostess rushed to greet us. I immediately felt at home. The decor is fantastic...all art done by the owner. Onto the food! We got the banchan special. It came with bland/uninteresting soups but omg! All the wonderful vegetables!Subtle pickled greens, amazing bean sprouts and the kimchi pancake was wonderful. Definitely will be returning. :)

Delicious unique Korean food. We ordered the set meal (which was make your own bibibap) for $29/person minimum 2 people, with really tasty vegetables and pickled foods. We also ordered a side of galbi ($49). The set meal came with Kimchi stew, a chicken stew with thick porridge, and lots of other sides. Service was friendly and quick.

Tried Korean food for the first time last month and Borit Gogae. Went in not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious and fun this meal was. It is a build your own bowl with a bed of barley rice and protein options of beef ribs, spare ribs, marinated crab, pork and beef patties. Top with fried kelp, herbs, soybean paste, acorn jelly, and various veggies. We opted for the spare ribs and soy marinated crab, ribs were delicious and spicy, crab was not my favorite I think just due to texture. The soups were probably the low for me. Pumpkin porridge was nice and sweet, scorched rice soup just tasted like burnt rice bits in water (the waitress agreed she doesn't like it) and the perilla seed was a weird grainy texture. Overall a very enjoyable meal and I would definitely recommend anyone to try and will be back to try some more. The staff was very welcoming and service was quick, also easy parking in their lot behind the restaurant with their front door located in the back off the parking lot FYI.

Totally worth the hype!!!! This place went viral on IG and for good reason. We went on a Monday night and there was no wait. There was about 5 empty tables. The waitress was so friendly! Which is almost unheard of in ktown lol... iykyk. We ordered the set menu which is $30 PP. We also ordered the galbi. I knew based off of the IG that there would be A lot of food but I didn't realize just how much until they stopped by our table three times to drop off the food. LOOK AT MY PICTURES!! Also I'd like to mention I'm a carnivore and don't like veggies but actually the veggies were so good! It was such a nice variety too and we had three different types of soups. Pumpkin soup, tofu soup, chicken soup. They ended the meal with dessert, which was plum juice, dried persimmon, and a corn and red bean pudding.

It tasted just like my great grandmother's cooking!Such nostalgic taste that makes you appreciate everything that our parents and grandparents has done for us. Korea is a mountain landscape so there's ALOT of root vegetables and pickled/perserved vegetables, so this place did it just perfectly. The banchan was perfectly seasoned, not too salty as most bibimbap places would do. The barely rice portion was small, but still filling cause of the variety of everything else. Daejibulgogi was flavorful and brought it all together.Lastly, the soups were sooooo comforting, not too flavorful, but that's the beauty of it all. Doesn't let you leave full and disgusted, but satisfied and feel kinda healthy!

The wait will be significant, but it is worth it.This Korean "jungshik," traditional formal meal was served only to royals and upper class families. With each main dish you order, you'll receive a table full of banchan (side dishes) and soups. The rice is barley rice, traditional and healthier than white rice. If you mix the side dishes and the fermented bean paste, you get to enjoy a tasty bibimbap! The device is excellent and the decor is charming and nostalgic of Korea. There are Korean-style kitchenwares for sale near the counter as well if you like souvenirs. The parking lot was packed, but free on Christmas Day. I think it's normally valet though, street parking as well. Restrooms are clean, but both doors display male gnomes, look closely at the signage before entering.

Saw the hype about this spot so I'd thought I'd check it out. I will say it was a bit underwhelming. I liked the concept of the multiple side dishes and building your own bibimbap essentially, I will say this place def quantity over quality and to go for the experience. The flavor pallete overall of the main meal is very simple and mild which I appreciated. It's very homestyle, so don't expect the modern Korean eatery it seemed very traditional just based on the flavor palette and simplicity of the meal, which is super nice if you are in the mood for that type of meal. I realllly liked the ambiance and setting of the restaurant. The servers were very nice, how ever I will say from the time they took our order it took us Atleast 50 min to get our food. We were finally served a scorched rice soup and pumpkin porridge then waited 20 more min at this point we were starving and ready to eat! We also noticed ppl around us whose orders were being taken and there food came out MUCH quicker than ours it was within 10 min or so of ordering. So I am not sure if there was a delay if there was i would have appreciated a heads up. Overall for taste I would give it a 7/10. Scorched rice was my least favorite, and my favorite was the Acorn jelly salad. The plum tea / dried persimmon with walnut was also a favorite of mine. Then the soups were simple yet flavorful, very soothing. The banchan were ok, not the best sides I've had at a Korean restaurant I felt like the picked items could've used a bit more pickling. But lots of veggies which was great! It was def nice to try one time! Great for a date night spot too if you want a simple Korean meal with nice ambiance.

Went for a late lunch here with my Mom. We ordered the set menu for two which is an extensive spread of banchan (Korean side-dishes/condiments), soups, and porridge, allowing customers to create their own bibimbap. For protein, I ordered the LA Kalbi and the raw soy marinated crab. I know that is a lot of food for only two people but hey that is how we roll.Overall, really enjoyed the food and experience. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. FYI, if you are a big meat eater you have to order the protein in addition to the set menu. The lady that served us was very nice and friendly. Also an added plus especially if you come here with your parents; they provide self serve take away containers so you can take all your leftovers home. Nothing is off limits even your banchan you can pack to go. The location in K Town is convenient with its own parking. Definitely a must try.

We visited Borit Gogae and opted for their Set Menu with Barley Rice. This featured dinner is an incredible spread--almost entirely vegetarian, aside from a dish with chicken and a small plate of snails (and perhaps a hint of fish sauce here or there). The meal includes an impressive array of dishes: soybean paste stew, pumpkin porridge, mung bean pancakes, and a variety of sea and land greens in flawless preparations. There were also additional soups and even dessert. Everything was included, and every single dish was super tasty. The ambiance is very pleasant--open, airy, and adorned with interesting contemporary art. The service was just as impressive: super friendly and accommodating. We had several questions and needed advice on how to pair different foods and the order to eat them in, and the staff was incredibly helpful throughout.Overall, Borit Gogae provided an outstanding dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delicious, unique, and immersive meal.

I've been wanting to try Borit Gogae for so long, and finally was able to try it with my mom and grandma! I loved everything about the meal. We ordered the traditional barley rice and marinated vegetables (serves 2) along with the pork ribs. Each person is required to order at least 1 dish. I was a huge fan of mostly everything from the sides to the pork ribs to the dried persimmon dessert at the end. The only thing I didn't really like was the soybean stew - that just wasn't for me lol.I don't know if I'd want to return because it felt more like an experience than a meal if that makes sense. I think the price of $30 pp is justified, but it's not really a place you'd go every day. This is kind of ironic because this type of food is what people used to eat daily in Korea. But I guess it's popular because it feels like eating at home, and you don't get that from many restaurants.
