Fantastic red beans and rice and peach cobbler. Rivals restaurants in Louisiana and Alabama. I'm glad I was able to find a good cajun restaurant.

Happening place! We were here off season, and this was the restaurant that seemed the busiest with lots of locals. Great service. Food was good. Large portions. Prices reasonable. Typical southern meat and three in a more atmospheric setting than average.

The food is absolutely amazing ! Words can't describe how great it was. The customer service was awesome and quick. The owner was very nice and professional which is a plus! The restaurant had a simple and cute setup to it as well with parking in the back. Dining is inside or outside in the back, Definitely returning !

I love Big Mama's Bayou! Miss Lois is the sweetest soul and you can taste the love in her cooking! I first tried this establishment for lunch one day because one of my coworkers was craving fried chicken, "some GOOD fried chicken" he said. I love me some soul food and was excited to try out this highly recommended and favored restaurant by our staff. I've tried a lot from the menu, the fried chicken, the etoufe'e, the BBQ brisket, the hot links, and the amazing sweet potato cheesecake. The food is delicious! All the sides are AMAZING, especially the mac and cheese!! My only complaint is that the portion for the sides is so tiny! Miss Lois! Don't do that to me please! Each dinner comes with an old school HOECAKE! (The "pancake"you see on top of your food) What a treat, I'm craving Big Mama's as we speak... This is really the spot if you're in south central looking for some real southern soul food. My coworkers and I place a huge phone order at least once a month. Always pull up into the drive way to pickup, I highly recommend calling your order in unless you plan on eating there. Seating is very limited. You'll receive some southern hospitality by the staff and experience some good comfort food. There is so much flavor and richness to each meal that is served, please do NOT skip out on the sweet potato cheesecake... one of the BEST things I've ever put in my mouth. This resturant has very kind and hospitable service. Every time I pick up they are always so warm and welcoming. The yams and Mac and cheese are my fave. I haven't had hot cakes in forever so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it came with my catfish plate. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Eating here made me very happy! It is so hard to find great gumbo and Lois (Big Mama) does it right! Delicious food and great service. I can't wait until my daughter comes home to visit to take her here.

Food is delicious. Highly recommended. Even the fruit punch juice is taste so good. The surface is good and warm and friendly in there.

The Catfish and etoufee were very good. The cabbage was pretty good. The greens were not flavorful. The garlic patties were very interesting. Kind of corn like a hoe cake didn't have a garlic taste, but they were tasty, so I liked them. I also ordered rib tips. They were good a little too saucy for me. I prefer my tips dry but if you like sauce. I think they're good and a good portion. DO NOT ORDER through yelp/grub hub. For pick up just call and order directly from the restaurant. And I feel like that for all places. But especially cause I had a problem. Just order from mama.

Great food, friendly service. Lois is the loveliest lady; she puts soul from the bayou in her food. Love that there are vegan options. The gumbo is the real deal! The flavorful roux takes you back to Louisiana and makes you want more. Also got peach cobbler and ribs and they were tasty.
