Stumbled upon this little hidden gem at The Grove and didn't disappoint. We didn't have to wait in line and got seated right away. The staff were friendly as you entered the restaurant. As you enter the ambiance is great, dim and the decoration was elegant for date night or just a night with friends or any other nice occasion. The bathrooms are located upstairs you can use the escalator or use the stairs as well. The food is delicious no doubt about it a little pricy for what it is but we enjoyed every bite. Fresh, lots of flavors, elegant and plated very well. We enjoyed our meal after a book signing with Mel Robbins and I feel they could have had more waiters to help out think I counted 2 for everybody that was there. It's hard to determine when there will be a rush but just prevents from tables waiting or to place an order. The waiters were working hard I loved that but maybe having more waiters to ease the work. Can't wait to be back to enjoy other plates and have some drinks!

I came here for brunch the day of my birthday & since the beginning we were welcomed and they sat us down with an amazing server (Miguel)! He was always attentive & funny with his stories. I loved the side dish of potatoes I got as well as the Mexican rice. Everything was really good. Lastly, I loved how they played salsa/ cumbia as the music they should definitely add a dance floor haha but other than that, the aesthetic is very pleasing.

This was my second time eating at Alma Cocina de Mexico in a year and I must say, it's been good both times.Ambience You get a choice of two dining ambience options, upstairs or downstairs as well as inside or outside. If you choose to be outside, they always provide heaters. You can also ask for blankets if you'd like one of their community blankets. We were thankful for both the first time we went and sat downstairs outside. Sitting outside is a great option if you like to people watch, just prepare for the bite from the crisp LA air at nighttime. If you eat upstairs, it's mostly indoor dining with a view of the kitchen. There is a cool breeze, however, because of the upstairs outdoor seating. To get upstairs there's an escalator, flight of stairs, and elevator. So you've got a few options. ServiceBoth times I've gone, service was excellent. Everyone we were greeted by was polite, friendly and attentive.FoodYou start with a complimentary basket of yummy chips and salsa. I give their chips & Salsa a 10 out of 10. I enjoyed them, wish I got a little more salsa, and felt the salsa could use a touch more salt. There's salt and pepper at your table if you want to use it. You can also ask for a refill. We ordered the house salad to share. It had a vinaigrette on it along with onion, radish, pear slices, and tomato. I'm not big on dressing, but still ate it. I'll give it a 7 out of 10. We did request for the dressing on the side, but that did not happen. No sense in wasting it though. The first time I came I ordered the barria tacos 7 out of 10 for me. The tacos were good, but you don't get much consommé. This last time I had shredded chicken emoladas in a sweet warm mole sauce, 8 out of 10 for me. Both times my partner had shredded chicken enchiladas that comes with a green salsa, 8 out of 10 for her. Both the enchiladas and emoladas are topped with cheese, sour cream, shredded lettuce, and sliced avocado. You're welcome to request items be removed from the topping. I did, and it was not an issue. My partner also had a shrimp taco that we both tried, 9 out of 10. Both our main orders came with and option of rice and beans, 10 out of 10. Overall a nice date spot with good food. I'll be back to try more menu items. Enjoy!

Okay so I was excited to try this place the menu looked good, the ambiance looked beautiful, got sat outside on the patio area with a pretty view of the fountain. All seemed great. Right off the batThe server comes over and says can I start you off with drinks we order drinks and an app to start and he follows up by saying okay kitchen is closing soon and it's last call for alcohol do you want anything. Mind you it's 9:25 Yelp says they close at 11pm I was automatically put off and really didn't want to stay but they came over with drinks and we ordered right away. Appetizer came out and it was just okay it was cold but hate complaining so didn't say anything. Food came out not even 7 mins later tacos had okay flavor but were also Luke warm it was all mediocre and a waste. We felt rushed the whole time which sucked and ruined the night. I mentioned to the server the closing time is wrong on Yelp and they should definitely change that had we known before we wouldn't have come. To top off the night the server dropped a dirty knife on my husband and left beans on his jacket.

Located right at the entrance of a grove, Alma is very attractive from the outside and interior decoration makes for a nice ambiance! The staff was pretty nice too. I got the Tinga de Pollo Tacos, my other friends got the Tacos al pastor, and an eggplant salad. The Tinga de Pollo Tacos were $22. It 3 mini tortillas with chicken on it and a tiny side of guacamole mixed with what seemed like salsa verde...No onion, no lettuce, no sour cream, no beans (which is how I traditionally am served Tinga when I go to my Mexican friends homes). I really wish I had just gone to some taco truck and paid 10 dollars for a much more generous yet equally delicious portion! My friend who got the salad also said it was mostly lettuce but it did have a nice presentation. But the chips and salsa were very delicious and they did give a reasonable portion size for a party of 4! I don't think I'd come back to be honest. The portions are a bit obnoxious for the price you're paying for. I'm sure their other plates also have great flavor but I don't think the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.

Made a reservation solely because this restaurant is by the fountain and we wanted to be in the center for the snow fall during Christmas season. I would not come back... The food was very mediocre to say the least and what made it worst was how long it took to get anything. Every dish had too much lime in it (and that's coming from someone who LOVES lime). I just thought it was very very overpriced for food that was simply not good. I would've preferred the $2 street taco you see down the street.

Loved the carnitas plate and will definitely be back again. You can tell it's very well put together and on the newer side of everything at the Grove. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu as well as helping me navigate food allergies. I would definitely take a date here as well. Also side note the salsa was mild for anyone that needed to know. Chips and salsa were given for the table as well.

Came by for brunch this afternoon and was greeted at the front and told about the two options of menus we can have. There's a brunch/lunch upstairs and the lunch menu downstairs. Of course we love options so we chose upstairs. Once again greeted by a friendly employee named Liz. She walked us over to our table and was very accommodating. Checked on us frequently and was very friendly and knowledgable about the food and menu. We ordered the queso fondido, chicken enchiladas, and the Baja tacos. Of course had to get endless mimosas for the gf and I got a few mezcal margaritas. Liz made our visit pleasant and memorable. I thought the pricing was a bit on the higher end, but when you're provided with service like Liz, it's definitely worth it

Never disappoint. I just love this restaurant. Never a bad experience. Not to mention, it's absolutely stunning! The service is top tier. All the staff are always so friendly. They do get pack so make sure you have reservations if you plan on visiting. The vibes are always perfect. Highly recommend sitting outside! You just feel like you're the main character in your own movie. People watch, eat and drink, just sit there for hours. The food: YUMMY YUMMY! Can't complain. The drinks: Strong, delicious and pretty! I just had their cucumber mocktail for their first time, absolutely delightful! So refreshing. Never had frozen cucumbers before. Way to stand out! :) They do validate parking, so make sure you ask! 2 hours free.
