Al Watan is one of the OG Pakistani restaurants in the area. We always come for the nehari, haleem, chicken jalfrezi, and butter chicken--each dish is packed with authentic flavors and that perfect balance of spices that reminds you of home-cooked meals.The service is fast and straightforward, which is exactly what you need when you're here for the food. The ambiance is pretty simple, but honestly, that's not why you come to Al Watan. It's all about the food, and it delivers every time.

Lawndale and Hawthorne aren't exactly known for the food...except for Indian and Pakastani. Of those there is an unimaginable depth, and Al Watan is said to be one of the leading restaurants to eat. And the food is overall good, and I was fine with it hit I honestly wasn't wowed. The Lamb Khorma has tender meat and is overall a milder dish. The Goat Karahi is nice, with some tang from the tomato and sweet fragrance from the onion.Palak Paneer is always a solid option as well, the perfect vegetable to offset all the meat. The rice in the Chicken Biryani seemed a bit mushy and overcooked, and my preferred carbs were Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. Both had great texture - just the right ratio of fluff and chew. Fine food overall, just not my favorite.

Food was bad. We drive all the way to this location to try Pakistani food. We ordered siekh kabob and it was super bad. It looked like it was cooked 2 days ago-frozen- and re-heated. The lamb karahi was tough - no flavor. The fried chicken - was supposed to be a whole chicken like how it is in Lahore - the server said it's a whole chicken - it came out in pieces and cooked to death! It was so dry. It's not even for human consumption. The Paya had a burnt taste. Seems like the bottom of the pot burned. The brain masala was the only descent one. Naan was ok. Overall - will never go back again. Will try the other Pakistani places. I really thought I can Like this place. Bad food. Sketchy area.

Second time to Al Watan. You don't come here for the ambience or service but for the food. Overall I would said the food is good as we tried the different number of dishes. We tried the tandoori platter, samosa and lamb and chicken briyani. It was an enjoyable meal especially with 6 of us sharing the meal.

The food is very good and authentic with rich flavors, but even the mild dishes are too spicy for an Asian palate. It's a small, hole-in-the-wall spot with limited English spoken. Would come again!

Chicken korma, tandoori chicken , naan bread with sesame in it ( first for me), mango lassi ( very good and a Lot!) and rice Lassi was excellent Ch korma was spicy and flavourful. But the chicken were very small pieces and on the bone. I had to keep fishing out small bones. The chicken was tender , thigh meat Naan bread was very good as was the rice. The chicken tandoori nice flavour tender but not juicy but not bad at all. Portions were huge !!Service was amiable and good suggesting from the waiter. Definitely try it out and I would come back and try other dishes. The 4 star is because of the smallPieces of chicken and the bones. Ambiance very casual simple
