I've been dreaming about these burritos since I first tried them! I honestly could not understand the hype of something so seemingly simple but these bean and cheese burritos are seriously delicious. I also tried the chili cheese fries. I did takeout so by the time I got home my fries were soggy (at no fault of Al & Bea's, I had a pretty long drive). They were alright but I wished I got the chips instead.Street parking only and expect to wait.

We were looking for something tasty in the area and we remembered that a random stranger recommended this place. We stopped by on a very rainy Thursday. There was plenty of parking at the front, so we put in a couple quarters and walked in. The menu is on the wall, there's a small window where you order and some chairs and tables that you can sit and enjoy the food. Since it was raining, no one sat outside, which was fine since we took it to go. The prices are fair and the portions are okay.We decided to go with a bean and cheese (with green chili) burrito, chicharron burrito and a taco plate. The bean and cheese burrito was excellent. It was on the smaller side but that's okay, quality wise it was really good. It was gooey from the cheese and the beans had a lot of flavor and not too salty. The tortilla was nice and warm. The chicharron burrito was basically a bean and cheese but with chicharron, minus the cheese. The chicharron was soft but it tasted a bit burnt. Not sure why. But it was still good. The taco plate my husband enjoyed. He liked the hard shell and he said it was a good size. He also enjoyed that there were beans and rice to eat on the side. They gave us some red and green sauce. The red sauce was heavy on oregano with some kick to it. The green sauce was served hot and it was actually surprisingly good. I don't know how to explain how it tasted like, but it added a different flavor profile to the burritos I had. I really liked it. The man at the window told us that we picked a good day to stop by because there wasn't much of a line. I really want to try other items on their menu so we will definitely be back soon.

Serving delicious Mexican food since 1966, Al & Beas is a staple in the Boyle Hights community. This cute family owns restaurant knows how to make mexican food good. I normally get the Combo burrito and I usually have to eat it for two meals because its massive. Definitely get your moneys worth here with the portions sizes. The staff here is always so nice and really treat their guest as family. The parking in front of this small hole in the wall spot is limited for it can be a hit or miss sometimes. But you can always find parking if you go up a block of you.

In search of the best bean and cheese burrito? The locals say Al & Bea is top tier and specializing in burritos since 1966.It's easy to drive past this small outdoor restaurant but you can't miss it because of it's orange lettering on chocolate brown background. For about $6 and change, the bean and cheese burrito is a bargain. It'll hold you over since it an average sized burrito. So, if you're hungry, you'll need to order another item. The fried beans here are savory and creamy with a sprinkle of cheese. I did like the tortillas here too. Tasty, soft and pliable. I'll have to come by again to try their chile relleno burrito. Apparently Al & Bea gives La Azteca Tortilleria some competition. Parking next to the restaurant is hit or miss buy finding parking block or two isn't too bad to find.

My brother and I got the Carnitas Burrito and the classic Bean and Cheese. The bean and cheese by far was the best !! Its flavor explodes in your mouth and the cheese is a great compliment to the heavy flavor of the beans. The tortillas are also delicious. The California was good but it was over saturated with lettuce and it diluted the flavor of beans and carnitas. The carnita itself were not that great and I wouldn't get it again! The service does take a little considering we only got two burritos but the wait is totally worth it. They have a little sign too that explains why they might delay with your a food. The restaurant does not have a lot of space in front. There's maybe like 8 small tables altogether. But I believe that is the point since it's supposed to be a stop and go type of restaurant. I would recommend to bring cash because they do charge a fee for using card.

Bean and cheese burrito with green sauce. Excellent. Very well seasoned and so filling! I heard the red sauce has a kick to it but I went with green and it was just delicious. The wait time (ciclavia day) was extremely long, about 25mins for just 4 burritos and nothing else. Hopefully it's not like that on regular days. The burrito was piping hot, oozing with refried beans and the cheese mixed in it. Good quality tortilla makes all the difference. Will come back

Specializing in Burritos since 1966. This spot was on my list for a minute now. Another legendary place that missed the mark in my humble opinion. I had some great breakfast burritos and tacos earlier in the day. Since, I was in the area and nearby. I felt like it was good time to visit Al and Bea's. I ordered the taquitos with guacamole sauce and it was pretty lackluster. I rather go to Cielito Lindo's for taquitos with green sauce. The famous bean and cheese burritos is a hefty amount of beans. Really more beans than one needs to eat on their own. I like beans to compliment a burrito not be the star of the show. I suppose that's my fault for ordering it. I also ordered Chicharron Burrito and I wanted more crispy chicharron. I didn't get that crispy texture that I was looking for. I wouldn't be a rush to come back here. Service was very friendly. I can't knock them for that. This is one of those places that probably tastes better out of nostalgia more than anything.

Everyone is telling the truth about the bean and cheese burrito!I came to Al & Bea's to experience the bean and cheese burrito and I'm converted. I ordered one with green sauce, and I should have ordered another with red sauce. I also ordered chili fries and an "everything" taco (shredded beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese and guacamole). You can easily spend $10-$20 by yourself with a burrito, a drink, and a taco. There's a small seating area and it is outdoors. I enjoyed my time there because they were bumping oldies tunes over their PA.Generous portions, and in fact my burrito was exploded when I unwrapped it. That was no matter to me! I grabbed a fork and enjoyed it all the same. There was a steady flow of patrons before and after me- and I went on a weekday.Parking was tricky and I managed to find a spot down the street. There's street parking and some of it is metered.

LA institution that's been around since 1966! Al & Bea's are best known for their BEAN and CHEESE BURRITOS. They are truly delicious (the best) and I don't even like Bean and Cheese Burritos! -GREEN sauce Bean and Cheese: Delicious, saucy, mild, very flavorful. Good for kids or if you can't tolerate spicy.-RED sauce Bean and Cheese: Has a kick. Kinda spicy but not overly. Very good flavors- I wouldn't recommend for young kids or if you are sensitive to spicy notes. Al and Beas offers other Mexican fare (taquitos, tacos, tostada), burgers, and more, but they're known for their bean n cheese burritos. They are BUSY, be prepared to wait. Friendliest people. Free soda refills I believe. My favorite is the Chili Relleno burrito (ask for extra green salsa on the side), hubby loved the combo burrito (bean, cheese, shredded beef), kids loved the green sauce bean n cheese! Payment: Cash and Card (a small convenience fee/$1 or so). Parking: Metered street parking. Good luck.

The best chile relleno burrito! Everything tastes as if my abuelita made it and the service feels like if I'm family. So happy to have discovered this gem!
