Food was typical (in a good way) for what you get at a hotpot! Price for the food was also appropriate. Service was pretty fast. Our server was new and wasn't very knowledgeable about allergies but the other server was and helped out when they could. Overall, service very good and worth it if you have gluten allergies, so long as your patient. Ambiance also typical to a hotpot. It was a little tucked away in the shopping center, so my partner and I found that it didn't get too crowded.

It's cold these days, which means shabu shabu time. For the money's worth, if you mainly stick with meat, it is not too bad. However, the lack luster of any appetizer dishes and sides make this establishment boring. They have a decent choices of cuts of meat. However, unlike other shabu establishments, this place does not offer much choices when it comes to other proteins other than beef, chicken and pork. Also, the vegetables are limited in variety of vegetables and it is prefilled and delivered to your table instead of self serve or buffet style. There is absolutely no appetizers or other food items, which sucks for children as they get no eggrolls or gyozas, no fried rice or jochae, no chicken wings or tempura, not that those food items are good for them.No side dishes, no make your own sauce; just you eat what they deliver to you table.I suppose this is due to space, as it is quite small dining area compared to other shabu restaurants. Or maybe people just want to eat bland meat boiled in liquid. Either way, get your money's worth and order a lot of meat.As for service, we went on a weekend late morning ad the place opened. No other customers came in after us not even when we finished dining and left. The one server just kicked back and was attentive the entire time.Oh, one good thing about this place was that they gave a pretty decent sized ice cream sandwich as dessert. Kids and adults love ice cream.

Awesome !! Personal hotpot so no need to share if you like it solothe design is pretty neat also as the hotpot is actually in the table so its actually alot easier to eat. less spilling and slopping the service is awesome they come very quick with all your meats and already comes with a huge plate of veggiesif you're a meat lover then you can easily get your moneys worthI love veggies so they had a decent varietyI'm used to the chinese hotpot style so wish they had a bit more( chinese corn, bok choi, mushroom variety)theres still enough to get your fiber I got the creamy spicy ( not too spicy probably 3 out of 5)most non spicy people can handlewould definitely go backbecause the place is low key and you can enjoy your soup!

This was pretty great. It'd been awhile since my last Shabu/Hot Pot experience in Los Angeles. Timing is everything, and since we were nearby and raring to eat, it was helpful to see all the Yelp love for ASK. Not gonna lie, we walked right by the mall/building it's housed in and had to turn around. But it's always fun to walk in K-Town.We arrive around 4pm, at that ghostly hour that hovers between lunch and dinner. Happily, they were open and ready to accommodate. Inside we found it to be a clean, well-lighted place with a comfortable swagger to it. We jumped into the AYCE and were plenty satisfied. So satisfied, in fact, that we never needed to ask for seconds. (They also do top things off, as some had mentioned here, with ice-cream).The server helped us navigate our way to pick our dishes to accompany all the other small dishes like veggies and our choice of noodles. We were in no rush, and had a lovely time diving into everything. When the Dodgers game came, they turned on the TV -- which I didn't even notice when we arrived. Can't beat the location, and they do have free parking if you need it. So glad to visit and have a hearty meal with a variety of flavors that was just perfectly enough.

If you are looking for a reasonable shabu shabu option (about $50pp w/o drinks) in KTown that you can get a seat at, even on the weekends, this is the spot. Aki Shabu has turned into an all you can eat shabu! Now...my friend and I don't eat tons but we were really happy with everything we had. We tried four types of meats, all were good sized portions. Tried tons of the sides and enjoyed them all. I was actually more adventurous than usual (I usually go with a standard chicken, pork or spice broth) but tried their Sukiyaki. Vegan and a really nice soy sauce. It gave my noodles amazing flavor right off the bat and I ended up not even dipping my meats or sides in the sauces much. Though I did enjoy the butter garlic sauce on the beef and creamy goma sesame sauce slathered on everything else!My only tiny gripe is - there was excellent service thru the whole meal. Legit, friendly, on top of everything, made great suggestions. When we were finished though, it took ages to get someone's attention for the bill. But other than that, perfect service. My friend and I had a great meal here last night and agreed we'd be back.

Best shabu place I've been to! I won't go anywhere else! Always has people eating but I've never had a problem finding a seat! One of my go to's for shabu every time! Service is always immediate and you get everything right away! I always leave super full and never upset with anything! Don't forget to get your ice cream macaroon sandwhich at the end of your meal (if you have room)! This place is a 10/10 for me every time!

Solidly good place. Full service ayce hotpot. They make the sauces for you and bring it to your table which I appreciate. Good quality meats and vegetables. It's $27.99 for lunch 12-4 PM Monday through Friday but doesn't include the wagyu meat selection. Otherwise it's $45 per person to include the wagyu selection. Their ayce also includes dessert via ice cream. Parking is free with validation. Plenty of vegetarian options here. Their broth is delicious. They've also got tofu skin, dried tofu, fresh tofu. Definitely recommend this place.

I tried hot pot for the first time during my experience at Aki Shabu Ktown. I was oddly nervous but really enjoy myself. I'm writing this review on my second visit, so clearly I enjoyed it. The food was fresh and the service was great. I loved the variety of options, including their high grade Japanese Wagyu beef. They don't really have any desserts (aside from the ice cream slice at the end) but the plaza/mall that it's located in is super cool with a variety of sweet treats or other fun. A cool date spot or just when you're around Ktown.
