Akbar still makes the best Indian food in SoCal from everything I've had and tried. Nothing even comes close. I'd come here more often if I lived just a little bit closer, but it's still worth driving out of the way for. The Chicken Tikka Masala, the Coco Lamb, the dal, everything here is just so on point.The service is so great too. They actually treat you like family, and they have my order memorized.10/10

First of all, the hours listed on Yelp are wrong. When I went last night (a Thursday), expecting them to be open until 10, I arrived right at nine to learn that they close at nine. I was in the process of apologizing and leaving when the owner stopped me, asked how many were in my party, and when I told him it was just me, he told me to sit down & insisted I stay and eat ("as long as you sit outside"). I was flustered by the generosity, and gladly took him up on it. I am so glad I did. The food was incredible. I've never really had Indian food before, and had been intimidated about trying it because I didn't know what anything was, but this could not have been a better experience. The mango lassi was delicious and not too sweet, the chutneys were varied and delicious, the naan was fresh and heavenly, and my actual meal-- the paneer tikka masala-- was AMAZING. Not to mention how well they did on the sides- the vegetables were great, and the lentils were INCREDIBLE. This is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful service and even better food. I think I tipped, like, 60%, and I wish I could've tipped more. I'm excited to return again soon.

Chicken tikka masala was completely inedible - unlike any I've had at other restaurants - tasted like they used the lowest quality chicken possible and chicken korma was only slightly better. Mango lassi was warm and rice pudding tasted like it was just suddenly mixed together without any refrigeration time. Even the gulab Jamin was unimpressive, which is a hard dish to mess up! Complete waste of money.

Food was great, the Biriani Rice especially. During the dinner I saw a lot of takeout orders, so I can tell it's a popular spot. Our server was friendly & attentive. Quality Indian food on the Westside.

Come for the food and wine. Nowhere better. Very tender and generous size portions of the meats used in their dishes. Their tandoori sea bass is the best seafood I have ever had and it has remained the best over the 20+ years we have visited this restaurant. Their wine list rivals the best steak restaurantes in town. We have never had a wine rated under 4.0 and the markup is very minimal. Who cares about atmosphere anyway! Overall. A foodie's deligh

The food was fine. The ambiance was fine. The service was atrocious. I was sexually harassed by the server throughout the meal right in front of my dad! The male server was DISGUSTING and kept whispering things in my ear from "drink faster" so I would get drunk, to "I have a bottle of tequila in the back for you," to "we should split some wine after." It was humiliating and just outside of earshot from others. Clearly, this guy needs to get fired from the restaurant so no one else has to go through the same horrific experience I did. All women, be warned!

This place is in our regular rotation of takeout because it's always delicious! The chicken tikka masala, veggie korma and cheese naan are our favorites. The staff is super friendly when we go in to pick up as well.

Excelent, excelent Indian food!! Nothing better in the Marina and Venice area!!! I recommend it!

If you like Indian food, Akbar is fantastic! The food is authentic and so delicious. The owner, Atul, is great. We eat here at least once a week, sometimes more. The chicken tikka masala is a must-have. Some of my favorite dishes are the chicken tikka masala, chicken tikka, lamb chops (and I don't even like lamb), sea bass, mint chicken kabob, coco lamb, bhartha (eggplant) and the okra. Also, the cheese naan (any of the naan, really) and the papadum are great.He also has a really great selection of wines and is very knowledgeable in that department.I highly recommend this place. It's so good!

I'm from Brazil and I'm not a fan of spicy food, so I was quite skeptical to try Indian food. However JC, took great care of me and my wife, he literally catered our meal to all flavors that Brazilians appreciate! Great food, great service! I couldn't recommend it enough!
