Whenever I miss France, I go to A Food Affair! From the warm greeting upon arrival by Babette to the marvelous food cooked by Christian, this place is like going to see your French family who happen to live in Los Angeles. They have a nice selection of wine and several patio spaces (you can rent them for a private affair, which is what one friend did for a birthday). They have specials every night and I usually opt for the fish, like the branzino, or the lamb shank, which is so hearty that I usually take half of it home! I love their mushroom appetizer, all their salads, sometimes they have pâté, and they do snails (out of the shell). For regular menu items I would go with the bœuf bourguignon or the wild salmon with crispy calamari. I never really have room for dessert, but you can't go wrong with the crème brûlée or chocolate mousse. BTW, they are back to being open more days and hours now that the pandemic has settled.

What a charming neighbor French treat! While being displaced from the Altadena fire my temporary home is the area; I came across A Food Affair. Luckily at the time of my visit it was DineLA. The decor with different tables, mirrors and light fixtures really added to the experience. Mushroom tart, escargot, salmon, lamb terrine... all were excellent. I look forward to revisiting!

Cute restaurant serving delicious French food! Love this family owned business. Great service and the chef/owner came out to greet everyone, too! Discovered this place, thanks to Reddit! Loved the beef bourguignon, escargot, duck rillettes, and french onion soup! We ended our meal with the hot cookie (fresh baked cookies topped with ice cream). Everything sounded delicious and you really can't go wrong with anything. I'll be back for my french food fix and DineLA!Street parking but free after 6pm if I recall correctly.

Came here yesterday for Dine LA and everything was phenomenal! Owners, Babette & Christian, were extremely warm and attentive. Service was top notch, but THE FOOD! I had been craving French food and this more than hit the spot. We started with the fois gras followed by bone marrow and escargot, entrees were Beef Bourginion and Lam Shanks; dessert was an amazing lemon cake and crème brûlée. We can't wait to go back for the bouillabaisse and many other amazing things on the menu.

I have to start this review with this.... What a incredible experience. My lovely friend booked a reservation through DINE LA, 7:00pm. Not only did we receive great service, the food was truly amazing. The table we sat at was perfect. We talked throughout the dinner, discussing how great each course was. My favorite had to be dessert course. As we enjoyed our evening, the chef/owner came to greet our table! Hospitality was 100/10! With a warm welcome and care for each customer, I will be coming back. Thank you for a great night.

I went here with a group of 5 on a Wednesday evening for DineLA. We made a reservation online about a week beforehand. We each did the DineLA dinner menu. I ordered the mushroom tourte, beef borguignon and creme brûlée for dessert. I also tried the salad, salmon, duck and chocolate mousse from my friends. The food was all very delicious and the 3 courses were filling. The tourte was flaky and had a generous amount of mushrooms. The beef was very tender and flavorful. No complaints about the desserts. Our group was all pretty good after all the dishes came out. Total came to be ~$75 per person after tax and tip for their set DineLA menu. We were told they also had an outdoor patio, but we were seated inside for our meal. Street parking only.

We've made several follow up visits since my original review, and we've had a wonderful experience each time. This family owned/operated restaurant has a rustic French countryside atmosphere, and is very cozy and warm. As of our last visit, they still have their small covered front entry dining area, the main dining area, and smaller back room, and a covered/converted back parking lot patio.Service is always friendly and efficient, although I enjoy a more casual, drawn out dinner. I'm never in a rush to get in and out. Many of the staff have French accents, which just adds to the ambiance. They only offer wine/champagne cocktails, and the food selection is typical French cuisine. Some of our favorite starters are the Mushroom Tourte, Roasted Bone Marrow, and Escargot. For entrées, I love their Beef Bourguignon, Duck Leg Confit, and the Scottish Salmon, although everything we've tried is very good. Also, you can't go wrong with any of the desserts. We're always impressed by the food and service. We'll definitely continue to stop in from time to time to enjoy this wonderful French gem. I highly recommend.
