A-1 Burgers

You want to talk about getting a burger fries and drink under $10, then you're talking a recession buster. A-1 is truly second to none. You get a burger made to order. That's amazing. Fresh ingredients are key. The fries and drink are standard. Be sure to add the seasoning to the fries. I like to take the burger out of the bag, toss in the seasoning and then shake the fries in the seasoning. Yummy. Expect a 15 minute wait for your food as the line can be long. However the wait is well worth it. You'll enjoy this tasty burger. So give A-1 a try. You'll become a client for life. Also, Cash ONLY!

A1 is a street-side burger stand with a walk-up window for ordering. It's strictly takeaway, with no seating available--and it's cash-only, so come prepared!The wait wasn't too long despite the line, and many people (like me) ate in their cars. Customizing your order is easy--I heard requests for extra salt, mayo on both buns, extra crispy fries, or additional toppings like chili or egg. I opted for the King Burger Special, a solid classic with lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, and mustard. To make it my own, I added bacon, cheese, and egg. Served with hot, crispy fries and an ice-cold Coke, the meal was fresh and nicely priced at under $10. Service was efficient and polite, though minimal, with a thick plexiglass barrier separating customers from workers. After ordering, you wait on the sidewalk for your number to be called. When your order is ready, you can grab extra seasoning from a shaker on the window sill. The burger and fries were neatly packed in a brown paper bag, complete with ketchup. As I walked back to the car, a busker began playing blues on his electric guitar, adding a great vibe to this down-to-earth neighborhood icon.

Ambiance: Walk up window to order, right on the street, and no place to sit. Only to go orders. Food: The burger and fries were pretty good, decent sized patty, affordable (cash only), and the wait wasn't too long even though there was a line. Chili fritos were not good at all, could barely stomach them. Overall, for the price, I can't complain. Parking is not great, I had to park a few blocks away, so be prepared for that.

My mother classified this as a 'real black burger'. I guess you can call it that if it means, this sh*t fire.... CASH ONLY, and don't be afraid to make a couple alterations. No fountain drinks if I remember correctly, fries were good and not overly salty. Be careful of the area and have your stuff together, that line CAN get long.

My husband's coworker recommended this place and I now have A-1 Burgers at least once a week. There's never not a line at this place and it's definitely worth the wait. It's such a simple burger but so tasty. I get mine with bacon and it's so delicious. It fills me up the whole day. I also like their fries seasoning so I usually cover my fries with it. They do only take cash which sometimes could be a hassle, but I don't think they'll change that anytime soon. Regardless, this is still one of my favorite mom and pop place! Definitely a must try if you haven't.

A walk up burger window that has been around for years ! It's home style so it's very affordable ! Burger fries soda less than 15 bucks ! Street parking so understand you might be looking '! Cash only no atm a bank down the street tho so just bring cash lol Made fresh so be patient with staff but quick turnaround!

Hamburgers are the best. I will be coming back eating there again and it's in walking distance. The service is good

I learned about this place while driving around the area. I remember seeing the line of people and thought, is the burger that good? It's a burger stand so you walk up to a window to someone who will take your order. After the pandemic, they now have cut up paper in a basket for you to write down you order to hand to the person taking your order. You can get the works which is lettuce, tomato onion, ketchup, mayo, mustard. I've seen some people, add chili, or an egg. There's a thick plexiglass between you a the workers. Service is average with very little interaction. You can only see the person taking the order, and not the folks cooking. The prices are really reasonable. You can get an A-1 burger special which is either single or double meat with fries and drink for under $10. Once you pay for the order, you are standing out on the sidewalk waiting for your number to be called from another window. When you pick up your order, there's extra seasoning in a canister. The burger is fresh including the bun. The order comes in a brown paper bag. Good burger for the neighborhood.
