Goodbye, Waterman's - An End of an Era in Hermosa BeachSome places aren't just bars; they're a feeling, a home away from home. Since my move to there in 2018, Waterman's Safehouse has been exactly that--a retreat after long beach days, a place for Sunday brunch with the girls, and a solo escape where I could sip, flirt, and watch the waves roll in from my barstool.Admittedly, I was there more often in the summer than the winter months, but it was always a staple. Chris and Ryan? Like extended family at this point--always making sure my glass was full and my vibe was right. I can't even picture the pier without this HB surfer and surfer-lover's haven.No more post-beach cocktails at the bar top. No more champagne brunches with endless laughs. It's the end of an era, and I only hope every single member of their front and back of house finds their next great adventure as soon as possible.Waterman's, you'll always be a part of my Hermosa story. It's been quite some time since I found myself in this area of SoCal, and with Hubbers' sister and BIL coming through for a day visit, he thought it a good idea to come through. This place was our first stop. Immediately, I loved the immediate vibe: it was chill, relaxing, all kinds of peeps young and old here to enjoy a watching a few games on tv and the live music. I guess it's safe to say we were off to a good start! We found seating immediately and were handed water, chips and salsa, and menus immediately. Hubbers and I haven't had anything to eat, but since he's been here before, he recommended the Hawaiian tiger shrimp to start. And a Bloody Mary to pair it with! HAWAIIAN TIGER SHRIMP: This was AM.A.ZING!!! The broth was packed with flavor and dipping the bread in it was even a better bite. They were also generous with the shrimp which added flavor and texture. Recommending! GUAC AND CHIPS (not pictured): Eh, they were alright. Nothing to praise or call home about, but both chips and dip are made and served fresh. I felt it was lacking a teenee bit of seasoning. It wasn't bad at all but I felt like it has potential. MEAT LOVER's PIZZA: Hate to say it but it was completely disappointing. Looked great, but that's as far as it went. There was nothing fresh about this pie. It tasted frozen - like frozen for a long time and tossed in the oven for a bit. The crust didn't even rise: it was completely solid (see attached picture.) A complete waste of $16.99. It's a good thing it was the last thing we ordered, because after having it, I didn't want to drink or eat anything anymore (other than water.) That's how turned off I got. FOOD: 3.5. The shrimp is the ultimate saver here. SERVICE: 4. Our server and crew were pretty attentive and mindful about taking away stuff from our table we no longer needed. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Metered street, metered structure. Fees are not bad at all at about $2/hr. OVERALL: 3.5. Hubbers noticed I was struggling with the my drink (the pizza really left a bad taste - literally and figuratively) and since we were on the last leg of the stop, he decided we bounce somewhere else. Lesson to learn here kids: don't get the pizza! Otherwise, we had a great time. I'd definitely come back, just not for the pie...

Second time here... I really like the vibe. Very good deals for weekend brunch and vibes. Staff is nice and VERY attentive...Olivia was great! Live music on the patio was super chill for a Sunday funday. Thank you for the great service and good drinks. We will be back and make this our spot. Malloys and sharkees has nothing on yall!

Came by with a friend for a weeknight happy hour (3-7p). The specials on the website are a bit different from what's currently in the restaurant so buyer beware. Just ask the waitress what the deals are. There was a guitarist strumming away out front so it was a bit loud on the patio, but after we sat inside, realized it was just as loud because he was being pumped through the speakers. There's plenty of comfy seating and lots of TVs for sports fans. Domestic HH bottles are quite cheap so I got a couple, and also got a deal on a 10-spot of their sweet and spicy chicken wings, which were surprisingly delicious. Not overly battered and juicy chicken inside, more sweet than spicy so could have used a touch more kick but still quite tasty. If you're looking for a solid weeknight happy hour right near the ocean, Waterman's is a fine choice.

Enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy the great meal, warm weather and friends. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Great service.There's a salsa bar but I couldn't take myself away from the view and friends to check it out. Maybe next time because we are definitely coming back soon.

Eh.. the food was ok, but not really amazing. We stopped in around 6pm on Sunday and it was full of football fans watching the games, which was right up our alley. We sat down and the DJ started playing really loud music, which didn't fit the crowd. There eventually came in a large party that was maybe having their company Christmas party or something. Food: I had the street tacos, which were good, but the brown rice was not great. The only downside was the food came out really slow and took a very long time to start coming out. The vibe was cool and relaxed Overall good visit

The ambiance is amazing! It's fun all type of music. The service was good... The food We order sweet and spicy chicken was ok.. the free chips and salsa were awesome. I also ordered the Hawaiian Tiger shrimp.. the soup was delicious, we ordered extra bread. The fries were actually pretty fresh. All of the food was Hot.. the drinksVodka Soda, vodka pineapple and watermelon margarita. The margarita wasn't great so I replaced it with vodka pineapple. It was good. What I loved was the music and the people!

I am very surprised with this place because it was super packed on a holiday weekend and Chris went above and beyond to make sure our drinks were always full, and our bellies were also full! Honestly, I cannot with how amazing his service was. He was so kind and everything he did was with a smile.. I will definitely be here more often because of Chris -

My first time here on ad busy thursday and the bartender Kua was so helpful and so accommodating with my friend who had a food allergy. Thank you Kua. You made this trip from Arkansas so memorable
