Driving to a meeting with just a little hunger gnawing at me, I happened to pass by Tommy Pastrami New York Delicatessen--and with a name like that, how could I resist? First, I love pastrami. Second, any place that shares my name has to be good, right? Well, let me tell you... it did not disappoint.Walking in you immediately get the feel of an old-school deli with a no-nonsense, fast-paced energy. The place has a clean and inviting layout, with a long stainless steel counter stretching down the right side where you place your order. Overhead, a massive menu board showcases all their hearty sandwiches, soups, and sides. The left side of the restaurant has seating, though some tables were stacked when I walked in--probably from an early rush or prep for closing. The service was quick, friendly, and efficient, keeping that New York deli vibe alive in every way. Now, let me talk about this sandwich. I ordered the NY Reuben with corned beef, and even though I opted for the half sandwich, it looked like a full meal on its own. The moment I saw it, I knew I was in for something special. The rye bread was perfectly grilled, with a golden-brown crust that had just the right crunch. The layers of corned beef were stacked ridiculously high, tender, juicy, and packed with that deep, savory flavor you expect from a high-quality deli. The melted Swiss cheese oozed just enough to hold everything together, and the sauerkraut added the perfect tang to balance out the richness of the meat. A little side of Thousand Island dressing sat next to it, just waiting to be drizzled on for that extra creamy bite. And of course, the classic crisp dill pickle was the perfect companion to cut through the heaviness of the sandwich. This was easily one of the best Reubens I've had in a long time--flavorful, loaded with meat, and served with that old-school deli authenticity. If you're craving a real sandwich, Tommy Pastrami is the place to be. Next time, I might just have to go for the full sandwich... but judging by the size of the half, I better come extra hungry!

My parents wanted to come over for lunch so we called Tommy Pastrami to place an order. The person I spoke to over the phone was very knowledgeable about the menu and super helpful. I ordered the corned beef reuben. It was absolutely delicious. The kids enjoyed their chicken strips and fries while my dad and hubby enjoyed their pastrami sandwiches. My mom, however, did not enjoy the open-faced turkey and gravy sandwich. She felt it was very salty. I tried it. I have to agree.Other than that, pick up with easy. Definitely would order from here again.

Great place for Pastrami and other deli sandwiches. I went during a busy weekday lunch rush. The line moved quickly and my food came out much quicker than I expected. There is seating inside and a large area outside. Pastrami was very good and the double baked rye was excellent! The side potato salad I ordered was tasty. I only ordered a half and that was plenty! I was told their brisket is definitely a sandwich to order next visit.Plenty of parking. Located in a business park with a large lot.Definitely coming back! Great place!

Definitely the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. Used to go here a couple of times a month when I was still back in OC.They do everything in house, including the rye bread so the sandwich is amazing. I have tried a few other things on the menu, including the chili, burger, hot dog, potato salad, soups, and honestly, everything was pretty good.Definitely try the hot pastrami sandwich on rye though, at least once.I can say that this is one of my favorite food spots in OC.The only thing I don't like is their working hours as they close pretty early, but I do understand it.

Ordered delivery a few times. 1st Pastrami nice and lean with and side of Dejon mustard and a pickle. This I presume is not to allow the bread to remain dry and moist. 2nd sandwich was a Rueben, came with a side of sour croute, Dejon mustard and also a pickle. Both great!! But my highlight was the Chili, omg that was so fire!!!! I let chill for about a day before eating. I warm it up added some ritz and boom magic!!!!

Man, I can't believe it's been 13 years since my last review of Tommy's. And guess what, it is still the same delicious place that I remembered. I had to meet a vendor for a project and I was supposed to pick somewhere in between SGV and Irvine. Well this was way closer to him but coming to Tommy's made it "tolerable" to come out this way. Right away we commented on how awesome BJ was. She would call drum roll as she called out numbers [for pickup]. When there was a line to order she would come out and clean and ask how everything was. Made some suggestions as we noticed there was new items on the menu. It was hot otherwise, I hope the next cold day I get to try the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The vendor and I decided to split two Rubens. I ordered the corned beef and he ordered the pastrami Ruben and we split it along with an order of fries. I still had enough to take some home and my wife was really grateful. My coworker, that was going to meet us tried the Tommy Special. I have had that one too and I know that is a great sandwich as well.Normally I love to put a ton of the spicy mustard on my sandwich but I think the Russian dressing was much better with the Ruben.

"Tommy Pastrami" occupies a corner unit in a business park. It appears that they are replacing their old signage. The current banner offers good visibility from the street. On this visit, I ordered the "one half a la carte pastrami" sandwich on a French roll ($12.50) and a 24oz fountain drink ($3.25). With tax ($1.45), my ticket was $17.20.When you order pastrami, a lot of places serve you steamed, shaved pastrami served on a roll. (That's why I ordered my sandwich on a roll. Rye, wheat and white bread are also options.)Here, they grill the pastrami. As a result, it has a heavier, beefier flavor. For some, it may feel a bit greasier. But it is an alternative style of preparation, and as a change of pace, I liked it.This store is a franchise, and this was my first interaction with the brand. They have other deli type sandwiches--brisket, corned beef, etc.It is a good option if you like sandwiches where meat is featured prominently.

Yo, Flavor Budz! So, I was craving a pastrami sandwich, right? And I found this place on Yelp that's only 5 minutes from my job. I was stoked! When I got there, there was no line but a ton of pick-up orders. I'll definitely order ahead next time. This young man named Ivan took my order, and he was super chill. He answered all my questions patiently. I went with the half pastrami sandwich and onion rings. They didn't skimp on the portions or the presentation either. The best part? The pastrami and onion rings weren't greasy at all. The bread wasn't soggy, and the onion rings were crispy. My first time, there was a breeze, and everyone was super friendly. Shoutout to the cook in the back who hooked it up and to Ivan, who was a pleasure to chat with! I'll be back to try the grilled cheese for sure!See ya!

Came here for the namesake pastrami. Sando looked good. Meat sliced thin and piled high. But the first bite was... disappointment. Meat had very little flavor. I guess it was pastrami, but it could have been roast beef or even ham. Lacked any personality. Rye bread was okay but not remarkable. Served with a hearty pickle, that was also just okay. For $20 after tax, cannot give better than 3 stars.
