Tomatillo Mexican Grill

If you're in the mood for a fresh, healthy, and satisfying meal, I highly recommend checking out Tamatillo Mexican Grill. Located in a lovely area with very reasonable prices, this spot is a hidden gem. I've been here twice in the late morning and each time I've ordered the breakfast burrito with Soy Chorizo. It's packed with flavor, and I love how you can customize it-- I go light on the potatoes and add almost everything else, paired with a side of mild salsa. The burrito is filling without leaving you uncomfortably full, and it always tastes incredibly fresh.The atmosphere inside is just as appealing as the food. The restaurant is clean and the walls are adorned with vibrant Mexican culture art, creating a welcoming and colorful ambiance. Despite its great qualities, both times I visited, I was pretty much the only customer, so I'm really hoping this place stays in business. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Sorry, but this place was just a no. Their plant-based options was not good. They should just stick to their regular menu and remove their "vegan" options. Found this place off Yelp and drove all the up here. It was our first time there and it's a quick to-go type of mom and pop joint. You order as you go--pick and point what you want built. The line was long and got pretty busy for a small place perhaps because it's the only Mexican restaurant in the area. They need to be more clear on their menu on what type of stuff they put in it. It just says "vegan Al pastor" tacos WHICH IS JUST MUSHROOMS. Should just put what it is rather than naming it Al pastor. I guess this is their version which was odd. We tried to let them know we didn't know it was mushrooms as we don't eat mushrooms if they can kindly please change it to soy chorizo and the cook hesitated and wasn't going to change it. He finally agreed to make a new one--WE RETURNED the original order that came out and they ended up throwing it away. However, they charged us anyway for additional charges to compensate or offset the cost or difference, which was fine. It was only $5. However, it was petty. As a new customer we told the cook it was our first time, and we want a good experience and become returning customers if they can help us with it. After the hesitation and finally changing the order, the $5 charge was not a pleasant experience after the whole ordeal. I think the charge was not worth losing a potential returning customer that would continue to patron the business. Although they did change the order--we will not be returning. There's also a charge for "SPECIAL OF THE DAY" whatever that is that wasn't mentioned and we don't know what that was on the receipt didn't see it until after we left. Make sure to double check what they charge here because they mark them as misc items. They're so busy perhaps no time to pay more attention to the clean the restaurant. The tables were extremely sticky and the chairs were very dirty, stained, with food and sweat. They also did not smile and was not quite friendly. Need to greet customers and thank the customers.

Tucked off to the side in a pretty big mall (that includes a Trader Joe's), Tomatillo serves up surprisingly tasty Mexican food. The carnitas were delicious, and the steak was tasty as well; even the "soyrizo" and potatoes were good. The salsas are OK and the service is friendly.There are a couple of tables inside and some outside as well but this place seems to do quite a bit of take-out. Nothing to go out of your way for, but if you're in the area and you have a jones for Mex, by all means check them out. They also have beer if you want some suds with your food (in addition to sodas and "aguas").

I think this is a family owned biz with everyone helping out! Everyone is so nice and committed to your positive experience! HOW TO ORDERStreet tacos are built like Chipotle/Subway style :) Everything else is straight forward. AMBIANCEReally small dining area - not a spot for anything more than a very casual outing with 1 or 2 friends. Take it to go and eat across the street overlooking the ocean! All orders can be made to go! Enjoy!! :)

It's so cute first of all. Lovely friendly service. The barbacoa tacos were amaaaazing The horchata was a little too sweet for me.. but everything else was 10/10 and prices were very reasonable in this economy.

The owner and workers are always so welcoming. The food is delicious and you can tell that the ingredients are fresh. Don't skip the chips!!

An inexpensive Mexican food option similar to Chipotle but more choices and better food. You order at the counter and they assemble your food. The burrito was large and to order with all of the toppings yiu want, including cheese, salsa, choice of proteins and rice. Salad bowl is like a burrito without a tortilla. The barbacoa is good and the guacamole is chunky and tasty. Small family business, with 7 inside tables and 4-5 outside. In an area with a lot more expensive options, this is a great affordable choice.

Awesome hole in the wall spot. The prices are fantastic considering the location. Everyone was patient and friendly even during a rush. Chips are made in house and everything tasted great. Highly recommend

My family and I have enjoyed burritos here for my entire life, the staff have always been the absolute best. they are the friendliest people you will ever meet and make your food with so much love and care! i have never been disappointed with my food here throughout the years of patronage. I wish i had the words to properly urge you to try their wonderful food, you will never be happier

Just a super place for a quick and local CaliMex style "create your own" meal. Wonderful service. Very tasty food and amazing homemade everything. Especially the guacamole! We all got bowl style burritos and there's many ways to customize. Abundant portions very fresh ingredients and tasty. I was seriously impressed!Gonna be my new local PV go to Mexican.
