Had dinner at Think Prime in San Pedro and overall, it was a good experience. Ordered the filet mignon with the cognac green peppercorn sauce, which was cooked well and had a nice sear. The sauce added a rich, slightly peppery flavor that complemented the steak. For sides, we went with the mushrooms and spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, and bacon mac and cheese. The mashed potatoes were smooth and garlicky, and the mac and cheese was creamy with a good amount of bacon. The mushrooms and spinach were well-seasoned but could have used a bit more texture.Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was comfortable. It's a solid choice for a steakhouse in the area.

Typically, I try to see the good in dining experiences, but Think Prime makes it hard for me to see the best in its efforts. So brace yourself for a tale of woe that has some glimmers of hope. I am a local in relation to the place. And sometimes I do not want to drive beyond Pacific Coast Highway, so my choices are limited. And thus I decided to try this place anew; my lack of willingness to venture far turned into the winds that led me to Think Prime. Sometimes the price of convenience is limited options, and limited options can be as good as it gets. I got there around 8 o clock, with a new friend. It was our first time hanging out, and I wanted. a place where he and I can talk, get to know one another and see- through insight captured by dialogue- what our relationship is build to be. He and I first spotted a red lighted room with a piano bar. He and I went in there, attracted by the promise of a lively room. It was a lively room but it did not lend itself for what I wanted--- a place and time, where he and I could chat, and see how we could click. However, the room had a pianist and a few people singing and dancing. Then the DJ played "YMCA" and the dancing and singing amped up. A circle formed and people grooved to the song and performed its iconic dance moves almost as a reflex. All good clean fun, I approve, but again it was not for me, and what I hoped to do. I asked Betsa- our server- to move to the empty dining room and she explained that she could not because we needed to order dinner to sit in that area, not just drinks, or not just drinks and apps. Um, I was planning for the night to develop on its own. I was not sure if I wanted to stay in that spot of the restaurant. But I knew I wanted to move. She held the line and did not allow me to move. I told her my reasons, I told her how the music of that room impeded my hopes, and still she did not allow us to move to the empty dining room unless we were ordering dinner. I did not know I needed a strict plan to visit Think Prime. Betsa moves us away from the piano bar area into the regular bar area. Quieter, yes, but not to my comfort. We were seated in a high-stool table. My feet hang which cuts my circulation. I was not comfortable. I was annoyed. I told Betsa again to please move us to the empty dining room. She still would not allow us. The dining room was only for those who were going to order dinner--- that was a non-negotiable. What price do you need for us to sit in the dining room, I inquired. She did not have an answer.I spotted what I assumed to be a manager. I spoke to him. He echoed that I could not sit in the empty dining room. I protested- my legs, my comfort, I wanted to sit in the dining room. Finally, we were moved to the dining room. I moved my own drink, and my pants fell a little along the move. I dropped my cocktail. I sat in the dining room, stewing in my own frustration. At the end of the night, NIck and I did order food, fries, baked potato a steak, Nick had some food to go. The bill was over 220, without tip. Why did we have to fight for our seat at an empty dining table. It fell like I had to fight and speak for a seat that was rightfully entitled to from the moment I stepped into the joint. Yet, I had a journey of tables and rooms to conquer before I sat where I wanted to, where I would have the opportunity to have my dining hopes fulfilled. And eventually, they were, Nick and I had a good time. The food is basic. Solid at times, sub-bar below. But this review was mostly meant to highlight the frustrating policy that Think Prime holds. Seriously, it is a bad policy on principle. Betsa explained that she was just following rules. She tried to accomodate me after the initial debacle, and did a wonderful job at appeasing the snob that I can be. She was attentive, clear, made sure I was happy as could be. So it really is the policy, the way the owners and staff uphold it, and in general the fact that I had to fight for my seat. For sure, frustrating and annoying.

Ambiance is super cute, there's a pool table in the back, played after we put our order in. Staff was friendly and attentive, the steaks were fire , sides kinda of whatever. Nothing exciting on the sides front. Got the Mac n cheese & asparagus. Steaks worth it, would come back

The ambience is dark and moody--fairly typical for a steakhouse. I will start by saying that the service was good. The staff was welcoming and relatively on top of things. Drinks were forgotten initially, but after that they never sat empty. We had a calamari appetizer which was lukewarm and on the soggier side. Definitely could have been more crisp. I ordered the prime rib, and the steak itself was not the most tender or flavorful. Overall, it was just okay. If the person I was dining with didn't want it, I would probably opt for a different restaurant.

The food was good, but the wait for it took 45 mins, idk why bc the place was empty on a Thursday night. Would not recommend the dessert or the drinks. The dining area could use some cleaning. There were crumbs on the seats and the table cloth had a big white spot on it, looked like dried up food. The parking lot is extremely small. Would Uber.

On my quest for $1 oysters, I gave up for years as prices rose. To my surprise, this place still serves them for an amazing price with the quality. $17 for 12 during happy hour (4:30-7 daily) and $1 on Wednesday! They are delicious small guys from Baja.I ordered a bunch of other happy hour items and enjoyed them all. High quality food without the price tag. I mean seriously look at the happy hour menu, you can't beat it. Salmon carpaccio was my favorite followed by the prime rib quesadilla. The burger was huge and came with fries for $9.99?? AmazingServer was friendly! Happy hour is only at the bar and patio fyi. Making this place a regular occurrence for me, a hidden gem for sure

Service & attitudes. Food was ok. Owner seems not to care. One of hostesses seems to be polite & caring. Wait staff need to be trained regarding courtesy.
