This review has been a long time coming - I've heard many things about this local steakhouse but never had the chance to try it out. Decided to go for a Saturday date night. The steakhouse is very casual and the atmosphere is far from romantic, but has its own little charm. They have live bands and karaoke nights sometimes. We had reservations but it still took 35 min to get seated because the place was packed. The bar in the middle takes up a lot of space so there isn't as much seating as one would hope. The waiting area was in one of the corners but since it was so busy, we and others had to just stand in the middle of the room which was a busy path between the kitchen and tables. When we finally did get called, they took us to the back area and the room was pretty stuffy.Ordered the famous prime rib with steak fries and a salad. They start you off with their homemade sourdough bread which was pretty good. The steak fries were thick and potatoey but needed seasoning or salt. The prime rib was cooked per my request of medium rare and it was good but somewhat bland. It was good to try but based on the wait time and lack of flavor, I'm not sure if it'd be worth for me to go again.

We came to this restaurant about 12-15 years ago for my sisters birthday but didn't remember the meal. Fast forward to yesterday, we had a family dinner with the cousins, there was nine of us. We arrived at 5:30 and the restaurant was surprisingly packed. My wife got the BIG prime rib, I got the filet mignon, both were good but the prime rib was a bit better. Portions are healthy, prices are good, this is why the place is packed. Even the salad (not pictured) is a large portion.

Prime rib at the San Franciscan in Torrance was something I wanted to try for a while and was able to when we were in the area at night time. This place for dinner was super packed and busy. We had to wait for a little while but it was worth the wait. Walking into this place it feels like you are back in the 1960's with the red booths. You rarely see this old-school style anymore. Came with a party of three and the guys ordered the prime rib while I got the rib eye. Overall the food was delicious and I would come here or even recommend it if you are in the area.

Craving a good prime rib that doesn't cost an arm or a leg? Then this is that spot that you should check out. Now, I do have to say don't expect to have the best service because service was definitely not great. Very old school vibes inside. We brought our kids and other people also brought their kids as well. They charge a shared plate/splitting fee. Ordered:*Children's meal spaghetti - my kids didn't like it *Franciscan cut - ordered with a side of rice which no one in my family enjoyed. But the prime rib was perfect. The au jus sauce had just the right amount of flavor to it.*Diamond cut - ordered with a side of French fries which was ok. Again the prime rib and au jus sauce was perfect.*Crispy calamari fries - this was extremely tasty. definitely recommend and would get again.Overall, I would come back to get more prime rib and calamari. I also want to try the shrimp cocktails. Its a good spot to try if you are in the mood for prime rib. Its pretty spacious inside so they have room for small parties or big parties. And you don't need to dress up. People including us were dressed normally. This yelper would come back.Tips:*Small private parking lot.*Takes credit card.*Indoor seating only*Bar area with TV*Dimmed lighting inside*Takes reservations.

Had a great Prime rib dinner last time in this place. Very old school looking place (popcorn ceilings, red round booths etc). The prime rib was super delicious (so tender and melt in my mouth). I ordered the smallest one they have called the house special but the portion was still huge. The meal came with the choice of house salad or soup of the day, either baked potato or steak fries and warmed sourdough bread with butter. That night I opted for their chicken noodles soup which was good as well. The cheesecake was a huge slice and yummy! The price is so reasonable for the amount and the quality of the food you get. I'll be returning in the future for sure!

We just had the pleasure of enjoying a fabulous dinner with 3 friends tonight. Three of us ordered the prime rib which was perfection and my wife ordered the grilled shrimp and really enjoyed it.We also ordered a chocolate cake and a carrot cake to share, delicious. The chocolate cake is off the charts. Our server was the best, he had the patience of Jobe with me because I'm the slowest eater in town.Cheers to the San Franciscan, still a great experience. See you soon.

The San Franciscan is a gem that brings classic American dining to life in the best way possible. Walking into this restaurant/bar feels like stepping back in time, with cozy interiors, dim lighting, and an atmosphere that's rich with locals. The prime rib is the undeniable star here--juicy, perfectly cooked, and incredibly flavorful. It's the kind of dish you dream about long after your meal is over. Pair it with their cocktail or array of appetizers, and you've got an experience that feels both timeless and indulgent.Beyond the food, the ambiance is unbeatable. Live music and sports and gaming, adding a warm and nostalgic touch that brings people together. And if you're feeling bold, karaoke night is a must. It's an experience where patrons become part of the entertainment, creating a lively, friendly atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere. The staff at The San Franciscan complete the experience with top-notch service and a welcoming vibe. If you're looking for a place to unwind, indulge, and make memories, The San Franciscan is the perfect spot.

Long time customer, first time reviewer. Been coming here when the Franciscan cut was under $30 and popcorn ceilings was in style (jk about the popcorn ceilings). I loved every time I've been here. They start you off with there homemade sourdough bread and butter, but don't eat to much because there portions are huge. Soup is good but there homemade thousand island sauce is the best I've ever had. Some say "it's slap your mama good". The main course is always the prime rib. They don't salt and pepper the crust before cooking, so you can taste all that glorious meat. The wait staff are really professional and take time to service your needs. The decor is 70's restaurant and adds to the vibe of the place.
