Went to check out Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary the other night, but we needed to pregame with did and drinks, so we hopped on the ship and visited the Promenade Cafe. We were sat immediately, as it wasn't busy, and had seeting at the windows overlooking Long Beach across the water. Our server was quick to come to us, give us recommendations as well as take out drink orders. We tried a few controls, the Cruise to Nowhere, which sounds tasty with peach syrup and Chambord, but it ended up treating like Robitussin for some reason. The Shore Leave Spritz was nice and refreshing. The Aviation was also interesting but could have had the flavors pop a little moreFor food, we all tried something different. The clam chowder is good, but the bowl isn't very big, you definitely feel like you need more with it. The fish and chips are cooked well, but it feels pretty basic overall. The meatballs also felt like they needed a little more flavor and seasoning. The California club was what decent but felt like it what needed a little something to give it a pop of flavor outside of the bacon Overall, with views of LB over the water, it's a nice view, but the food is fairly basic, nothing really that you have to run out and put in your face right away.

The food was good but quite pricey. I suppose it's trying to keep up with the historic luxury feeling of The Queen Mary itself. The service was fine, we were greeted and treated very well. Our server was a little preoccupied, like he didn't need our business. Maybe they don't pay well.Anyway, it's a beautiful location and I would recommend this cafe for a nice romantic date.

We ordered the Short ribs with mashed potatoes and the fish n chips. The short ribs were tough and had no flavor, the taste was like an old mystery meat taste. The fish n chips were mushy, the batter had no flavor. The fries were ok. We didn't eat anything after the first bite. Didn't get a comp just paid the bill and left for something way better. Don't waste your time or money here.Stacey was our waitress, didn't offer an exchange or solution for such horrible meals.

Made a reservation for a Saturday night at 6 pm. Arrived to the ship a little early around 5 just to walk around and explore. Really nice that you don't have to pay admission to the boat if you have a reservation ahead of time. We went to the restaurant around 5:45 just to ask if there were any openings to sit earlier since they weren't too busy. The host nicely let us sit early and we were greeted by our very friendly and informative server (sorry, I forgot his name). We started with the spinach and artichoke dip and the calamari. Both were really good and finished very very quickly. There are a lot of good options on the menu but I went with the club sandwich. It is a big sandwich and honestly not too bad for the price. The rest of my family ordered the braised short rib and the French dip sandwich which they said were both good. We couldn't skip out on dessert and somehow for a party of 6, we ordered 3 different desserts (probably a mistake but a very good mistake). We got the cinnamon apple tart, flourless chocolate cake and mud pie. All three were amazing but I loved the mud pie. It is huge and definitely should be shared amongst a few people. We had a great experience on the ship and the restaurant. Loved the vibe inside the restaurant and really liked looking out the window at all of the boats. We will definitely be back!

Decent prices especially for the atmosphere, good quantity, decent service, OK quality of food. The Promenade Cafe is the casual sit-down restaurant at the Queen Mary, located on Deck 4. Surface parking at the Queen Mary is metered, costing $25 for an hour or more, but gets reduced down to $10 with validation. Even though it is not particularly busy, you need to make a reservation online via OpenTable. The email confirmation can then be used to get an entry ticket into the Queen Mary, which allows you to tour the boat on your own.We got to the boat a bit early so we slowly walked through the ship's deck 4 and the upper sundeck. There are many picture opportunities, with the Long Beach skyline in the background. And the nearby Observation Bar provides an outdoor area to mingle while sipping a pre-dinner drink. The indoor dining area of the Cafe is a long corridor, with seating on both sides. At the back of the restaurant, the doors leads to the back of the finer dining restaurant on the Queen Mary (Chelsea Chowder Bar), so thinking both share the same kitchen. We got a nice table next to a window (square porthole?). Water was given, though wish it had been refilled more often. We shared a cocktail (Cruise to Nowhere $15), which was quite good and strong. For entrees, we kept it simple. The French Dip ($22) came on a long and very crispy french roll, with decent amount of chopped beef (prime rib) and a decent au jus (no cheese or the promised horseradish sauce). We chose the side of sidewinder fries, which I love and there was plenty of it...just wish it was hotter. Both were served lukewarm and came with a good pickle spear. The other choice was the Corned Beef Reuben ($18): same situation where the bread was decent (supposed to be a rye but don't think it was...looked/tasted like a rustic white), but the corned beef was the 'chipped' kind, not the deli sliced. It was a large sandwich in area, but not very thick (because of the lack of meat)...and could hardly taste the cabbage. The side for this was the other choice of pre-dressed salad, which wasn't bad...though it had gotten limp since it had been sitting around a bit fully dressed. So the prices are lower than you would expect at a tourist attraction or a hotel restaurant, and since it allows access to the Queen Mary with the corresponding views and sights, we thought it was worth it.

Mmmm good and bad. Sandwiches are amazing, large with great sides and worth the price. Quesadilla was good but not worth the price especially when you see the size and no guacamole. They were out of the flourless cake, mudpie and regular chocolate cake. As a chocoholic this was incredibly frustrating. They were nice enough to give us a strawberry shortcake that my son and husband devoured saying it was really good. They drizzled chocolate on the cheesecake for me, it was scrumptious. The server was very nice and incredibly apologetic about the dessert situation. The restaurant is lovely with a beautiful view. Bathroom was clean and handicap accessible. I would return for the amazing Reuben and Club sandwich hopefully being able to try the flourless cake next time.

Right off the bat, I noted that everyone in this place was wearing jeans. I would expect that at a fast food place, not the sit down dining room on a cruise ship turned museum. I also noted that the efforts to maintain the area are sorely lacking, with unmatched ceiling pieces and just a very aged look to everything. The period music being played (Jazz and 40s and 50s swing) was a good touch though. The server was hardly seen, which was really frustrating because there were not a lot of people here. Others did help from time to time. Maybe because we only had water the waiter didn't feel we were worth his time? I still tipped 20% because I have done customer service and know it is a thankless gig, but I really feel like our server wasn't really helpful. Especially considering how helpful the other people working there were in his long absence.Food was pretty good overall. I will say the broccolini was strangely bitter. Not sure if it was the preparation but it was a disappointment. I really like broccoli and broccolini but this was just not good.Overall this restaurant is just ok, mostly just convenient if you are staying on board. I would not go out of my way to eat here.

The Queen Mary reopened in May 2023. We stayed onboard for a few days in September and ate at the Promenade Cafe twice. At this time, they are open for Breakfast and Lunch everyday (closing at 3pm), and serve a buffet dinner on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 5pm. If the Promenade Cafe doors are closed during dinner buffet hours, enter through Chelsea Chowder House & Bar.For our second evening staying on the ship (a Friday), we tried the buffet and enjoyed it. It's not a huge buffet, but there's still a good amount to choose from: Prime Rib, Chicken Marsala, Grilled Salmon, twice baked potato, veggies, salad bar, soups, and dessert (cheesecake and chocolate cake). The prime rib was good, but a bit too smoky for my liking. Overall, still a wonderful dinner with great, friendly service. We went back the next day for lunch. A few items on their lunch menu can also be found on the Chelsea menu.My boyfriend and I started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip and the clam chowder soup. Both were so good, especially the Spinach Artichoke Dip. You'll be tempted to not want to share. And, the clam chowder is different and an upgrade from the more traditional one they serve for the Fri/Sat dinner buffet.Entrees. My boyfriend had the Grilled Corned Beef Reuben with simple salad, and I had the Shrimp Louie Salad. An entree salad is good to eat after Spinach Artichoke Dip, Lol. I did try a bite of the Reuben sandwich and it was very tasty. My salad was good and fresh, despite looking really basic (it didn't look $23).Service was good and we enjoyed the daytime view of Downtown Long Beach.

Okay I'm really sad by all the really bad reviews. First off our waitress night 1 for dinner service was so sweet! She knew we were just trying to get in and out because we almost missed our deadline for the tour at 8 lol. But she told use her paranormal experience that she had. I got the fish n chips hella good. They weren't mushy or weird they were perfect I did salt them myself but I always salt everything. The mashed potatoes were sooooo good I was dipping my fish in the potatoes omg. Heaven. Literally heaven. I didn't get fries but subbed out for the potatoes (which was a great move) My mom got a the burger my mom was obsessed with the fries. She couldn't stop eating them. We only got waters, no drinks. But so yummy!! The server was attentive yeah I mean kitchen was slow but who knows how many cooks they had and what's going on back there. I never like to assume why something is super slow because I work in the food industry myself and I understand being understaffed. Price was exactly what we paid everywhere else in Long Beach. Our dinner was cheaper than our breakfast by about $10 or $15 dollars. Maybe there were other options that were crazy expensive but I would say very average on the price point. Maybe we got lucky maybe we didn't. But our server I believe her name was Alicia total sweetheart. The actual cafe itself was cute, the view was so pretty the older music we enjoyed so much! Be vibes on the ship are very spooky and creepy especially at night, but that older smell really adds to the experience of the ship itself. Thank you Queen Mary & the Promenade Cafe for a great experience and a very creepy stay.
