We came here on a Saturday morning to have some breakfast and to start our weekend. The restaurant is located in a busy parking lot where Starbucks and Food For Less is. It can get packed and the drivers zoom through the lot. After finding a parking, we were able to go in to get some food. Our waitress was the only one working besides the cooks so the service wasn't up to par but we did not let that ruin our breakfast. I ordered the chorizo and eggs breakfast with flour tortillas. Everything tasted great and surprisingly, the chorizo was not spicy. The plate came with beans which were also pretty good but nothing special. My boyfriend had the Country Fried Steak and it was pretty good but a little salty. Overall, food and service was okay but not sure if I will be back.

I hope this review helps someone looking for a delicious breakfast! Hi This place was 5 stars for us. We are from Fresno, Ca. Visiting family in Long Beach for the weekend and stopped for a quick breakfast we originally planned to stop at Black-bear Dinner down the street but after seeing YELP reviews on this breakfast place we were convinced and decided to give it a try.. and WOW! Everything was delicious, hot, looked amazing and taste was very original. Way more affordable than other restaurants too! There was no wait time to be seated and our food came out fast. I'm happy to say my family enjoyed breakfast here. The place was very clean and organized. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu, super helpful and attentive to us. (He was very good looking) safe to say we will be returning to eat here again. Thank you to the chef and the whole team!

I can't tell you how excited we were to find out The Nook and their staff were coming to Signal Hill. We began our brunch experiences with these folks at the location in Lomita, CA and loved it. We have taken several of our business associates as well as family members to enjoy phenomenal food and service here. If you want to be warmly greeted head to The Nook. If you want your meal served promptly and hot head to The Nook. If you want to feel at home head to The Nook. Over the years we have tried many dishes and it's a hit every time

I came here hoping to find a less crowded but nonetheless delicious breakfast spot on a lazy Sunday. Mission accomplished. Service was great and the place is so new you can still smell the fresh paint. The acoustics are pretty harsh so if full it would be quite loud but in a way that turns it all into white noise so it works. Feels a bit cold still maybe just the newness of everything needs to be worn in a bit. I'd recommend reducing the portion sizes and improve your margins if I were in charge just because the servings are huge and you could win both ways by higher profits and still large enough portions. I ordered the John Wayne with a side of pancakes and ate about half of it and it was too much. Seems like a kid friendly place and can accommodate at least one or two larger parties with some arranging of the tables.Definitely want to come back and try some more items off the menu. A lot of the breakfast menu is American style or Mexican inspired and so many variations to go for. The pancakes were the best I've had in a while just the right amount of moisture and fluff and sweet.

I am here again. This time wanting a breakfast for champions. We finished the Grandprix 5k this morning! Today I had a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whip cream topping with a side of turkey sausage. It was just enough food for me. My husband had a the senior rock breakfast. Includes 2 eggs, French toast and home fries potatoes. He really enjoyed his breakfast, but it was his watermelon lemonade that took it to the next level for him. The waitress was nice and energetic, very good service and a nice calm atmosphere.

Updated review, after multiple attempts to reach the business. No one answers the phone, the VM keeps picking up at 10 AM, my to go orders are consistently wrong. The food is good when you get what you order. Staff is very friendly and helpful when they are available. Good for eating in only, or just be sure to check your food before you leave if getting take-out. Nothing more than getting home ready to eat and find out your order is wrong and missing items twice.

Food is decent. It arrived hot! Service was friendly and attentive - got coffee refilled without asking. It's an open area with booths lining one wall. Small "nook" which explains the chairs in the lobby area, I'm betting there is quite a wait in peak times. Will return.

We waited like 3 years for this place to open, only for it to be an utter disappointment. We used live in the South Bay and went down to Lomita for the Nook so we were so excited when we saw one was opening in Signal Hill.We tried it twice, once was opening week and the biscuit and gravy was so flavorless and my scramble mediocre. But we decided to give it another shot.We tried again today and my french toast was GRAY. When I cut through them the bread was like a yellow color and the outside was just gray and had way too much cinnamon. My husband got the eggs benedict and it was so bland. We didn't even finish our food, dining out is so expensive these days and it sucks when you look forward to a meal out, only for everything to be bad and then pay $40 for it. I'm so sad to say that we wont be returning.
