The Family Mexican & Soul Food Restaurant

I am here for the food and the community gathers here but the service is good like the food. You can call in orders and the prices are the best in town. I love the speed and professionalism and love they treat with lots of portions. They are up early and stay late and there for 7 days even on holidays. The atmosphere is always positive for outdoor pick up ordering. Keep up the good prices for the best food in LA.

The food is mid. The desserts are good. And they only take CASH! Which is crazy in 2025! They miss out on so much money. I know my family has bypassed them for this reason many times.

The food is bomb fried chicken yams greens Macaroni and cheese smothered pork chops rice and gravy chitterlings bomb service was awesome everything was so good I will go again

Oxtails were great tender meat slipping right off the bone. Greens and cabbage was good I preferred the cabbage, I'm not a big fan of Collards but they were tender as well. The corn okra and tomatoes was good the flavors didn't mesh well. They needed a little more seasoning and cook a little longer. Everything was alright. I came here before a long time ago and the food was slightly more flavorful. This was very clean cooking. I don't know about the cornbread because I don't eat that. Service was good the young lady was pleasant and she smiled and laughed when I said I saw the lady from Miami's review.

Always see a long line here so we decided to give it a try. We got the turkey wings and the oxtail plates. Majority of the sides we wanted were sold out. Green beans weren't bad but the mac and cheese tasted like straight velveeta. Portions were HUGE, but things lacked in flavor for me.

Food is good. It's all taken care of out but it's worth it. Occasionally gets crowded. You can also call in an order too

Ok, so the outside of this location will make you want to either driveway or think twice because it is on the corner of Fig and Gage. If they put a little TLC into outside of the building to make it more appealing you could have about a 30 minute memory lapse of the locationSeeing the long line made me decided to give it a shot. Long lines normally equals amazing food. I ordered the smothered pork chops with rice and gravy, greens, and Mac and cheese for my dad. My dad didn't care for the pork chops because they were dry and seemed to be a little old. He enjoyed the sides. I got the smothered turkey wings with green, Mac, and yams. The turkey wings were tendered and the greens were good. The Mac could have been seasoned a little more and more cheesy with a better baked appearance vs the velveeta appearance. The yams were too sweet and just taste like sugar.

What other restaurant can you buy Chitterlings dinner without it being New Year's? And they do a really good job very tasty, very clean, and delicious.

They do not accept outside delivery services to pick up & deliver its bad for a disabled person to get food

I absolutely love the fact that the family Mexican soul food restaurant always has good food. they're fast. I know on holidays like Christmas and New Year's they fall a little bit behind with the chitlins but that just means that their food is good and I just wish they'd move in a bigger building with more fat staff so they can help you faster cuz they deserve it. they've been there for many years. I just wish they could expand but I love their food and every time I go there it's good quick fast service and that's that how couldn't think of a better place to get my soul food at this point. I'll go there unless it's in my kitchen. amen.
