Happy National Hot Dog Day! Here I am again, writing a review of a business that's no longer around. This vendor has been looong gone from 1st Street & the Promenade. I was reminded when I typed "hot dog" in the search function for Long Beach. They were a staple for me and others in the office way back in the day. Turkey was my dog of choice with ketchup and mustard. I wasn't such a fan of mustard growing up but it's interesting how palettes change as one matures.I truly miss this basic, no nonsense hot dog cart.

This. This is why I love Yelp. Not to lump hate or praise onto the new hotness with 5,000 reviews. Not to yell and complain in the most inane, esoteric rants my fevered mind can come up with. No, it's about finding a cool little spot you wouldn't have found otherwise.Listen, eating in downtown Long Beach sucks when you work there. Nothing is convenient, nothing is cheap. So small little stands like this one are a Godsend.I can't say much more than the fact that they grill up a good dog and are very nice. For a few bucks you can get yourself a satisfying little meal. The only real downside is it's a bit hidden away from anything else (it's by the promenade area, which is noteworthy but it still feels tucked away...also my GPS seemed confused as to where it actually was).Should you drive to Long Beach specifically for this? No. But will it pull through as a lunch time treat if you're nearby. Absolutely.

The Dog has the best hot dogs I've ever had, New York vendors have nothing in these smokey fire grilled 1/4lb. Turkey or beef dogs. They're by the bus stop (At The Promenade) and right next to the Bike Station on E 1st St. And Long Beach Blvd. in Long Beach, Monday - Friday from about 11am until 2pm, sometimes a little early to a little later. I recommend them, and have been fattening up on these for lunch occasionally for the last 2 years. At $4 for a dog, chips and a drink you can't go wrong.

This place is my favorite pit stop when I'm shopping or riding my bike in Long Beach; the customer service is excellent, and it's a small family business run by a man and his daughter. They make the best hot dogs I've ever eaten! It's a must try!
