I'm back! See my first review (not sure how this shows up). I came back with full intentions of getting the chicken sandwich...again . But it is only a lunch/brunch item . I came during happy hour so let's check it out: Great pricing! Food and drink options. Espresso martini: 5/5 Margarita: 5/5 not too tart! Burger: 4/5 it was just ...ok. Nothing to really write home about. Fries: 10/5 so I already said the fries were great at brunch. But tonight they came with like a coating of rosemary and a little brown sugar. OMG! These are apparently their "dinner" fries. So I need the lunch chicken sandwich with the dinner fries! Amazing!! Banana pudding: 2/5 the flavor is there, not too sweet. But the texture (southern girl here), is runny. Needs to sit and firm up. Kylie my server was amazing! Nice vibe. Not too loud or crazy for a Friday happy hour!

Stopped by for some brunch on a Saturday while I was in the area. Parking was a little rough, but we managed to find a street parking spot right next to the restaurant thankfully.There's a nice outdoor patio area, but we opted to sit indoors. We were seated fairly promptly, as it wasn't too busy around the time we went (~11 AM). Our server, Chalise, was super kind and provided great service!We got the ricotta French toast, up country Benedict, and breakfast burrito. The ricotta French toast was delicious and was my favorite. The breakfast burrito was fairly unique and different from your typical breakfast burritos; I do wish the short rib was shredded a little better (I had some huge chunks in mine that were a little tough). I loved that the burrito had a spicy component to it. The pork up country Benedict was yummy, but the shrimp made it a little too salty for my liking.Overall, a solid spot for some good brunch food and service. Would definitely come back for that ricotta French toast!

The Attic - A Culinary Gem in Long Beach We needed a meeting spot between Orange County and Los Angeles, and The Attic in Long Beach seemed like the perfect choice. The drive from LA was lovely--crossing the bridge, passing the cruise ships, and seeing the hardworking longshoremen at the docks--a surprisingly emotional and beautiful experience. Arrival & Seating Our reservation was for 11 AM, and upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess. We requested a table for three and were seated between the patio and the bar, with my seat positioned in the aisle. While the restaurant was nearly empty, I immediately wondered why we were placed in such a high-traffic area. In hindsight, I should have requested a different table. Throughout our meal, the barback, waiters, hostess, and even customers brushed or bumped against my chair, making it uncomfortable. Pro tip: If you visit, avoid sitting in the walkway--you'll feel it the next day! Ambiance & Space The restaurant itself is spacious, offering a variety of seating options, including indoor dining, front and back patios, and a full bar area. It comfortably accommodates at least 75 guests, making it a great spot for groups and gatherings. Food - Absolutely Outstanding! Now, let's talk about the real star of the show--the food! I ordered the Vego Mi Ego Sando, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations. - The housemade bread was perfectly toasted. - The veggie patty (a flavorful blend of beans and other ingredients) was thick and satisfying. - Topped with roasted eggplant, avocado, whole-grain mustard, onions, and perfectly blanched kale. - A fresh squeeze of lemon tied everything together beautifully. This was, without a doubt, the best vegan burger I have ever had! Drinks I ordered a pineapple juice, and it was incredibly refreshing. The best part? The server didn't add ice, allowing me to enjoy the pure, fresh pineapple flavor without it getting watered down. Whoever juiced it knew exactly what they were doing--it was perfection! Service & Staff - Warm, Attentive, and Friendly Regardless of the seating hiccup, the staff was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely warm. They weren't aware that they were brushing against my chair, and neither were the customers passing by. Apart from this minor issue, the service was outstanding. The entire team was kind and gracious, making us feel welcome from the start. Our waiter recommended the burger, and I salute him--he knew exactly what he was doing! The staff checked in frequently, ensuring we were enjoying our meals and making us feel like valued guests. Even as the restaurant got busier, the service remained top-notch--quick, friendly, and accommodating. The team handled everything with ease and professionalism, making for an all-around great dining experience. Final Thought Despite the seating issue, I would absolutely return for the food alone. Next time, I'll make sure to request a more comfortable table. Pro Tip: Ask for a good seat, trust the staff's recommendations, and get ready for a fantastic meal! An old fashioned home from the 1920s country style home converted to a restaurant?!?! Sure!!!The conversion and style of the home/restaurant added to the charm and ambiance of this establishment.The food was absolutely amazing and our server was funny and charming.

We were greeted by a friendly host at the front of the establishment. The location wasn't hard to find, but the parking lot is extremely tiny. We found street parking further down the street. So, bank on trying to find parking on the streets unless you have a tiny car. The ambiance is charming and casual. They had a lot of appliances depending on the weather. Where we got seated was towards the back and had some winds coming through. The only thing that was slightly annoying was we were next to the door that kept slamming hard and was extremely loud. It scared me each time, but i eventually got used it to after a while. Our heating lamp turned off because we were getting cold. We asked our server to check it. Another staff came by and extended an awning that covered the top and then the heating lamp worked!They have a happy hour from 330 to 5pm. Cocktail drinks were about $7. I forgot to snap a photo of the happy hour menu, a rookie mistake, sorry.We ordered: cornbread, burger, gumbos, mac and cheetos with and without short ribs, and beignets. The cornbread was one of the best tasting ones I've ever had! So fresh and hot. It reminded me of a pizookie from BJs and I must say, give it a try! Their burger is a smash burger but I couldn't even tell it was one and best tasting one I've had so far. The gumbo had great flavor, rice was fluffy and as a whole, it had heat to it. Mac and cheetos can be modified with the protein of your choice. I believe they told us there was fried chicken, bacon, and short rib. We got the short ribs and it was delicious! The beignets are nothing like disneyland ones, so throw that profile out the door. To me, it was like a fried donut but the fruit compote was "berry" great!Our servers name was Heather and she was really nice. She informed us that everything is made fresh! Their pastas, sauce, desserts, everything is made in-house. The meals are meant to be shared and that everything comes out as soon as it's done. No waiting for all the food to come out then deliver. They had bottled sodas and we had rooter floats and a 50/50 (orange float).I asked where the restroom was and they escorted me to the front of the building and into the main part of the "house". As soon as I walked into the room, I smelled garlic, and the inside is chic and intimate. Very beautiful. They have gender neutral restrooms and one of them had the baby changing table. It was a very nice restroom.All in all, this place is amazing, and I'm really glad my friend took us here. We do plan on coming back! Also, we were glad we parked down the street because we were sooo full, lol.

A charming little house converted into a nice restaurant. We did not have a reservation and waited 35 minutes to be seated. One obvious point, since it's an old house it was COLD inside not any warmer than outside seating so dress warm on a cold day. Once seated we were greeted by a nice and helpful girl. You must try the Biscuits with butter and honey are delicious. The Beef and Macaroni with Cheese topped with Flaming Hot Cheetos was the bomb. We were all satisfied with the good food The Attic makes. Parking is difficult to find took us 15 minutes to find one. Will be back l.

I've been wanting to try this place for the longes time and I finally got to try it! I remember when this was extremely popular because of their mac and cheetos, so we were finally in the area to try. We visited on a Saturday for brunch time and it did seem like the streets were extremely packed with cars. Luckily there is a lot right behind the restaurant that seemed to be free parking, so we were able to snag a spot.There wasn't a wait at all, with plenty of tables so we were seated immediately. The employees here were quite nice as well. We were seated inside the restaurant and they had their a/c blasting, so it was a bit cold haha.We ordered the up country benedict (with double croquette sine we were able to sub out the shrimp) and the mac and cheetos. The restaurant didn't seem that busy at all, but it did take a long while for our orders to be made ready.Once we finally received our orders, the presentation looked pretty nice! I started with the benedict first, and the short rib(?) they had with it was quite nice. Although the hollandaise sauce seems to be a bit lacking. It felt like the overall dish was missing something... The greens on the side had a very bitter aftertaste, which we weren't too fond of. The biscuits of the benedict were okay. Next trying the mac and cheetos, which was interesting that they didn't use the traditional mac pasta. It wasn't as yellow or cheesy as I would have thought, but seemed to have a different type of cheese mix with this dish. The cheetos itself were a bit stale, so it tasted like it didn't really elevate the mac and cheese at all. To sum up, it does feel like the dish was just made for presentation, but it doesn't really complement that well with each other.Overall, as a brunch place it's pretty standard, but not wow amazing. The vibe is a bit old, but the patio balcony feels nicer than seating inside.

Solid food options and love that they have a big outdoor seating area. I went here for a casual brunch after finding this place on IG and am glad I did, would recommend!

Super popular, local restaurant. Around noon on a Saturday there was about a ten minute wait, and parking can be challenging. It's a great spot for brunch because there is a lot of outdoor seating with heat lamps and shade. The bar is also outdoors, so it's a nice ambiance on a beautiful day. Good for groups. And I heard they have a happy hour. Unfortunately, after trying the food on multiple occasions, I just find it underwhelming. Husband and I were starving so everything looked amazing. I ordered the BRC: a hash brown like cake topped with egg and thick cut bacon, diced. It could have been hotter, felt like it had been sitting a bit. But it was decent. Husband had the crab roll and felt the bread was a little oily, although it had a nice crunch. It came with fries, which were fantastic!Unfortunately, there was a strange fiber my husband found within his crab. I'm also wondering if it was mixed with canned crab because the texture and flavor wasn't sweet and fresh like most crab I've had. We ordered two cocktails which were a tad sweet and took forever to get, so we didn't order any more, even though our intention was to day drink. Our server wasn't too friendly and I kept feeling like we were inconveniencing her, even though we didn't bother her for much. I have heard they updated the dinner menu. I would be open to giving that a try but think I'm done with the brunch/lunch menu.

Checked out the Attic today for brunch. We made a special trip from the Brea area, to try this spot. We arrived pretty early, and we got seated right away. I guess it's recommended you make reservations because it gets pretty busy. Parking is very limited, so plan on parking far from restaurant specially when it's busy. We ended up ordering several popular dishes; the hot Cheeto Mac and cheese, the chicken and waffles, the pork belly bowl, and shrimp and grits. We really wanted to try the gumbo, but I guess they didn't have it ready for the day ( a little disappointing). Hot Cheeto Mac and cheese: not usually something I would order, but according to customer reviews, it's a must. My opinion, it was ok. The actual pasta noodle, was not the typical elbow macaroni, it was the spiral pasta. Sauce is white, super creamy, and it's flavorful but the hot Cheetos don't add anything to the dish. It could do without. Chicken and waffles: this was not good. Waffle had no flavor, chicken is heavily battered and chicken it was so thin, when you slice the chicken it was more batter than chicken. Chicken lacked flavor too. Shrimp and grits: very tasty and shrimp was cooked just right. Pork belly bowl: this is was really good. Very flavorful and lots of different textures and taste. Recommend this entree! Overall, it was good, would come back again, hopefully they have the gumbo next time.
