1st time = good impression. Service was great. Server was very friendly, welcoming, informative (walked me through some of their specialty foam lattes) and was extremely efficient in making my drink. Ambience definitely aligns with the true cafe culture--relaxing yet comfortable environment for socializing, studying, etc. Lots of tables and spacious. There is is also a bathroom. I ended up ordering their Hot Matcha Cinammon latte (default: Oatmilk), because the cold weather made a hot drink essential for me at least. Drink rating: 4.9/5 stars *I should have asked for light cinammon (that minor change would have made it a 5/5)*My next visit--hopefully I will not be cold-- I will try some of their cold drinks for the sake of tasting their foams (which go best in cold drink version).

Delicious! Refreshing! Amazing! I can go on and on about how incredible Tea Leaf is. Drinks: The drinks are tasty, fresh, and oh so delightful. The boba is perfectly made and beautifully enhances any drink I have ordered. My favorite is the passion fruit green tea boba with no sugar. This place uses real passion fruit with the seeds. You can tell the difference from the imitation flavoring. It's just the best!! My MIL loves pina colada boba drinks and the owner personally concocted a boba drink to meet her love despite it not being on the menu. My MIL still raves about the drink! She has said that it's the best one she has ever had. Service: What really sets this place apart from other boba places (in addition to the quality of the drinks) is the service. It's top notch! I walk in and for the most part my order is in the process of being made. And when given a special request, they go the extra mile to make it happen. I have gone to many boba places and none are as attentive and friendly as the individuals at Tea Leaf!Ambiance: It's a great place to sit and enjoy a drink, etc. It's very clean, chill, and inviting. Prefect causal hangout place. Overall, it's simply the best! Highly recommend it!

The place was pretty clean and clean bathroom. Customer service even better. I ordered The ham and turkey panini I don't eat ham so I told him to hold the ham. Now for the price of the sandwich, judge for yourself about meat portion on my sandwich. If this is normal portion I would never return for another.

I went here to study and just see what the place was like and I was thoroughly impressed! I got a delicious pumpkin spice latte for fall and a fresh, tasty panini. The worker was kind and patient with me looking through the menu and even brought me my drink to my table since I was the only one there. Because it's pretty new and unknown I was the only one there, with occasional people getting drinks and the ambiance was a vibe. I loved the music they played and they even had Marvel movies playing so I was watching that during my breaks from my work haha! There were only two places that had outlets at the front and back of the cafe, I wish there were more like under the seating where I was at, but I understand since the place was small, but if they do get more customers I bet more plugs would be great for business!

I'm a Fivestars customer, and I don't give five stars liberally these days on Yelp, especially with good customer service coming at a premium, but when your first visit immediately turns your mood from sour to sweet, even making you stay there to absorb the ambience when you just want to get on with your day, that's an automatic five stars in my book! Maybe more if I can find a way to add them to this review.Tea Leaf Co. is a brand new business that opened in Downey Gateway on the southwest corner of Firestone and Downey. In other words, it's in Downey on Downey (Ave)! lolI was actually at nearby Pelicana Chicken, also in Downey Gateway, to take advantage of a Fivestars reward. Here, I was claiming another Fivestars reward that was set to expire in a few days, but since it was my only day off of work that week, I didn't really have any other choice. When I found Tea Leaf Co, the first thing I noticed was their hours of operation being ambiguous on the front door. It said "Monday - Sunday, 00 AM to 9:00 PM". I visited in the early afternoon, so this wasn't an issue for me, but I really hope the hour of opening gets specified to inform early birds of how early they can come. When I entered through the front door, I didn't see any employees initially. Luckily, neither proved to be a bad omen as just a few seconds after entering, the lone bobarista working behind the counter greeted me.The bobarista exhibited a very professional demeanor when I asked what exactly a Yakult drink was. He even went to a nearby fridge to show me a small plastic drink container, and that's when I got reminded of what a Yakult drink tasted like! I was getting pretty flustered after everything that happened before stepping foot inside this boba shop, so my decision fatigue definitely came into play here. But somehow, it all worked out in my favor, like when you get out of jail by rolling a double, landing on Chance, and collecting $200 as you pass Go. A rather silly way to put it, I know, but that should give you a better idea of how much the drink I ordered uplifted my spirits in that very moment whether or not you've played that board game before.Since I wasn't in a good mood, I went with what I thought would be a crazy combination: A Cookies & Cream ice-blended drink with crystal boba. Actually, I only said Cookies & Cream first, and then the bobarista asked if I wanted to add an additional topping. I have absolutely no idea how sound it would be to add boba to an already sweet ice-blended drink that tastes like ice cream in liquid form, but since I know I like crystal boba, I just rolled with it, hoping the two would go well together. The wait was about 2-3 minutes before the bobarista handed me my drink that was topped with a Ding Tea lid. Yes, you read that right. Ding Tea lid, and that almost made me think I was at Ding Tea, also a Fivestars participating business. During the wait, I admired the interior, which had a fair amount of plants inside that made me forget I was in Downtown Downey. The choice of music was nice to listen to: house music I believe? But definitely calming and smoothing to someone who has been working long hours every week for a year.My first sip of the ice-blended drink transported me to a third world, and I don't mean third world country. I mean a third environment besides downtown and a plant nursery. Kind of like a place you want to lay back and relax forever while sipping on a pina colada, or in my case, a Cookies & Cream smoothie. My mood instantly transformed into a much better mood that gave me enough energy to enjoy my lone day off of the week! That's how good the drink was! And the crystal boba was a very nice supplement in my smoothie despite how odd of a combo it sounded when I second-guessed myself after paying for, but before receiving, my drink.I didn't get the bobarista's name, and I forgot to ask. My printed receipt doesn't even show his name either, so I'm afraid he may not get the recognition he deserves for making me, a hard to please customer, a satisfied customer that day. I hope he reads this review and knows that he really did make a difference in my day.Absolutely highly recommend Tea Leaf! Not to be confused with The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, of course. Just remember to take out the first four words, and you get the name of this coffee shop :)

Food/Drink Review: I came here for their soft opening and with their decent amount of seating this place is the prefect place to get some work done, it's quiet and there's food!! Their Turkey and Ham Panini was pretty good and it comes with lettuce, tomato and cheese on perfectly toasted sourdough bread!! It's a decent sized sandwich and it's not extremely filling, but it should definitely hold you over until your next meal. They also have desserts and some ready made food in their refrigerated area. The drinks are fairly sweet, but definitely adjustable and I got the Peach Mango Green Tea with 0% sugar and it was delicious! The Mango Passion Green Tea and Ube Espresso were also highly recommended!! I didn't add any toppings to my drink but they have a variety of options to choose from.Service Review: As for the service, since they're not officially open just yet it's pretty fast! I got my sandwich and drink out in roughly about 5-6 minutes. The drink itself only took about like 1-2, but the wait for the sandwich is definitely worth it if you need a quick bite to eat!

After reviews on yelp had to give this place a try. Ordered a cold and hot tea and both were delicious. Flavors were on point and not overly sweet. Ambiance very comfortable with nice big screen tv if that's your thing. Service was great. Made suggestions and brought drinks right to our table. Definitely would come back!
