Taberu Sushi

This place is located in a small plaza with a variety of stores so parking was a little hectic but not impossible to find. Wasn't sure what to expect from this place because I wasn't sure if the high reviews were from only the omakase menu, but I have to say, the regular menu was pretty amazing as well.Crispy rice with spicy tuna was a 4/5. Not amazing but still pretty good. The rice was a little too hard and the bite was huge and a bit hard to eat but flavors were great. Volcano roll was 4/5. Nothing super special about it. Flavor was just average. Cali roll with salmon was 4/5 as well but the fish quality was really good. The roll came with cherry salmon and avocado on top. The cherry salmon was really tender and I only rate this a 4/5 because I'd much rather just get full salmon on top instead of avocado next time since there's avocado in the California roll.The double hamachi roll was a 5/5 and the star of the show. The fish was so tender and delicious and the sauces paired well with the roll. I would honestly come back just to get this roll. All in all, the food was good but the servers appeared to be understaffed because they were forgetting to give us things like sauces or our check. It took almost half an hour after they cleared our dishes for them to give us our check and we spent like 10 minutes flailing our arms to get any waitresses attention for the check. However, the waitresses were hustling so I believe it was just a matter of the dinner rush and maybe not enough staff. Would still go back.

This is a nice place to go on a date. The food and service is top notch. We had a nice booth. We each had a Miso soup. We shared a Rainbow roll, Gyoza, Tempura shrimp, Garlic Edamame, and a Scorched Crab roll. I think my favorite was the crab roll. They have a special board on the wall with lots of yummy items. I would definitely come back with my lady friend. We both loved the food and our server. I want to work my way through the entire menu. To bad it's not AYCE.

The fish is top notch!!! Has their blue fin, salmon and yellowtail and all were perfect Went on a weekday and was nervous it was going to be insanly busy but we were able to get seated right away. Service is very friendly; they were even very accommodating when we tried to split the check/ some places roll their eyes but not here! Great food, lunch special was so fresh. Definitely plan to come back/wish it were closer

The attention to detail, quality control, and quality of the fish is top tier for a casual place like this. You cannot really ask for more at this price point--even the tea was good!Overall, the ingredients speak for themselves and the chefs prepare everything perfectly (I don't say that lightly), so, if you like sushi, this should be at the top of your list.

I was looking for a sushi restaurant in Orange County to take my girl out! Based on all the Yelp reviews, I knew I had to give Taberu Sushi a shot. The restaurant is located in a plaza that is across Mainplace. Parking was crowded as we went during a weekend evening. The exterior is quite small but don't let that fool you. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, with bar and table/booth seating. It was surprising to see the establishment not too busy, but hopefully they will get more popularity soon. Service was extremely kind and quick, they answered any questions and brought out our orders fast. We ordered: spicy garlic edamame, seaweed salad double salmon, cherry salmon sashimi, toro sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, and uni on scallop. All of the sushi items were amazing! The seaweed salad was small so I would skip that next time. All the sashimi slices were thickkkk and tender, melting in our mouth! The uni on scallop was okay, it had a little caviar but I don't think it's a must-have. The spicy garlic edamame was so addicting and fun to eat, I loved the flavor! Prices weren't too bad as well, especially as the quality and size of the fish!!

This restaurant became an instant top of the list sushi spot for us. The place was very clean. They had really nice artwork on the walls as well that made a good impression. The sushi is probably one of the better spots that I've had in Orange County. We both got the 7 piece nigiri set that comes with salad and miso soup as well. Each fish was incredibly fresh and so flavorful. Rice was well seasoned too. Our set came with tuna, salmon, amberjack, aji, cod, scallop, and one other that I forgot. They all come already sauced. Soy sauce was not needed and I think even took away from the flavor. We also shared a double hamachi roll that was superb. All around great hits.The quality speaks for itself. Simple and elegant. Absolute gem!

Came here to treat my friend for his birthday. We were thinking about Omakase, but I wasn't too keen on one of the chef specials being lobster. So we opted for a la carte items. The sashimi box set was great and beautifully presented. My friend got the double tuna and double salmon rolls which he enjoyed. We also each tried an unagi sushi piece at the end which was delightful and delicious. The service was great. They were very attentive and very friendly! I did not even mention that it was his birthday directly, they just happen to overhear me tell him to order what he wants for his birthday. They ended up bringing a piece of their in house made cheesecake with a candle for him. The restaurant was nice and clean. Great for date nights too!

One of our new go to sushi spots, not only because of the high quality, fresh and delicious sushi and creative signature rolls, but also because the management is so kind and warm!! My son got to enjoy his first Ramune soda courtesy of the restaurant while waiting for our to go order! Come here before word catches on and thus place gets crazy crowded!

Great atmosphere and outstanding customer service! They explain each pieces of the sashimi which was very informative and showed professionalism. Quality of the food is premier and would definitely come back to this place for sure! If you are looking for good Japanese place, this is the place to go!

Delicious sashimi, great service, beautiful restaurant. This made for a great date lunch today! I loved the salmon!Highly recommend for sashimi lovers!
