Absolutely amazing!!Everything on the menu is delicious. Some of my favorite dishes include the tuna tacos, Peruvian ceviche, tiradito Nikkei, yellowtail jalapeño, and any of their hand rolls. The service is great, the atmosphere is very chill. Whether you sit inside or outside the vibe will be very intimate. The wines are pretty basic brands, but I love the Peruvian beer. This is definitively a must-try place in Bixby Knolls!

We walked in right when it opened at 5pm in a Sunday and were seated right away. They take reservations and I think that might be necessary if it's a busy night. That ambiance was cute and I loved the Latin music playing in the background. Japanese and Peruvian food are my favorites so of course I have to try this place.Order:Sushi Nikkei tasting - I love a nigiri set and really liked 2/4 of them. The salmon melted in your mouth the hamachi (I think) with miso was also really good. The two I wasn't a huge fan of had fresh fish but I wasn't blown away by the sauce on the second one and the Parmesan cheese on the scallops was a bit much for me.Acebichado roll - I like this one, good ratio of toppings, sauce and rice. I thought it was interesting that pretty much all the rolls had shrimp tempura in them, not a lot of variation. Oba roll - this was good but a bit too saucy for me. Bluefin tuna shiso - like a carpaccio, I thought the flavors were there and so delicious! Softshell crab - fried to perfection and the aioli was a good compliment. Overall I realized I am more of a traditional sushi eater rather than fusion. Nonetheless I would come back if I am in town. Food was good and so was the service!

This is probably one of my favorite places to dine at! Very rare to find Peruvian sushi but let me tell you, it's the best fusion. The app with Leche tigre is my favorite, the crab is crispy and delicious! All the roles fresh and satisfying. I usually order multiple & indulge.

So great. The Peruvian fusion added a fresh tale to something often more traditional. Every dish was amazing and full of flavor. We got the scallops, the sweet salmon along with the dusty roll. The scallops were so good we got two, and probably could have ordered more. I recommend getting anything that isn't the sashimi, so you can experience what makes the Peruvian flavors so great. Food: 9/10Service: 9/10Ambience: 9/10

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great sushi with a Peruvian twist. I'd been wanting to try this place for ages, and finally got my chance on my last birthday. Even though their second location in Belmont Shore is closer to me, I wanted my first Sushi Nikkei experience to be at this OG spot. We had made reservations and were seated promptly once we arrived at the restaurant. The hubby and I ordered the following:- Grilled Scallops: my favorite! So delectable. - Peruvian Cebiche (Catch of the day, tiger milk, aji amarillo, cancha, sweet potato)- Sushi Nikkei Tasting (8pc-Sushi) Tuna Power, Parmesan and Asian- Salmon Lime Roll (Crispy shrimp, cream cheese topped with salmon, lemon zest, potato)The quality, presentation, and flavor of the food were great, but I'd say this place is better for if I'm specifically looking for Japanese-Peruvian fusion sushi. If I'm looking for a more traditional Japanese sushi experience I'd go to Kashiwa in Signal Hill. The ambiance was upscale-casual and welcoming, and our server Danny was great. We had a very nice time and would definitely come back.

I waited a long time to try Sushi Nikkei! It was amazing both times. I love the interior the wall paintings & light fixtures - but of course the food is the most amazing. When we ordered, we were told they could add a half order to anything with only two pieces as there were 3 in our party. That was appreciated as we could all try everything. I loved the Aji Amarillo & Parrillera sauces. They were both delicious and added to the sushi they were on. My favorite was the Rock Shrimp appetizer the truffle oil gave the tempura a great added flavor AND the Acebichado Roll was also amazing! The Peruvian sushi is beauitiful and so good - love the presentation. Overall, food was excellent - service was great. The only misstep was speed of service. We ordered everything together on our first time and our table was crammed with dishes. I prefer when the meal is more paced out, soo you can enjoy each course. On our second trip, we paced our order so we weren't overwhelmed.

We were greeted and seated right away, even during a busy Friday night, so that was a plus. We ordered 3 rolls and the only one that stood out was the Salmon lime roll, although the piece of lime on top was a little overpowering. The flavors didn't "wow" me too much.I'm going to say this and it may be a hot take...but I just don't feel like the Peruvian flavors are what I prefer with sushi. The servers seemed very rushed and didn't have time to even refill our water cups our entire meal. This was a miss for me.

Outstanding! The clear favorite for me was the Peruvian Ceviche; however, everything was uniquely flavored and well-presented. Explore the menu. It's not overwhelming and you can't go wrong with anything here.Service was unremarkable.Street parking appears to be the norm.

We'll travel for good food and since this was a place we've never been to before, we thought we'd make a trip to LB for it. Service was great, they were attentive and took our order right away.Ambiance was good, I wouldn't say there was anything special other than we were able to eat either indoors or outdoors.I took note of what most reviewers ate and what they thought were tasty. We got a bunch of food:Oba roll: crispy salmon, avo topped with salmon, parrillera, jalapeño sauce, chalaquita.Dusty roll: crispy shrimp, avocado topped with octopus in ninja sauce, parmesan, tare. The dusty roll was more on the sweet and savory side. I did prefer this over the oba roll but found that after a couple of pieces from the dusty roll, I was starting to get full so I had to stop eating this so that I had room for the other items that we ordered.Acebichado: crispy shrimp, avo topped with tuna acebichado sauce, togarashi, green onion.Sushi Nikkei tasting - sweet salmon w/parrillera sauce, cream cheese, crispy, tare; tuna power w/parrillera sauce, aji amarillo, chalaquita; parmesan scallops w/parmesan, butter, lemon; and Asian shiromi w/white fish, asian sauce, quinoa pop, lemonHands down, the Asian shiroma was our favorite from the tasting. I could have eaten four of those alone. It was light, fresh, and melted in my mouth. We were disgustingly full. I couldn't finish the rest of the acebichado roll so I made my friend eat the rest.We somehow managed to order the ice cream mochi (vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate) after eating an ungodly amount of food.

My girlfriend and I drove around Bixby for sushi and she remembered Nikkei was known for Peruvian Japanese sushi. We parked, walked in and was seated within a few minutes at the bar. Service was great, the food/presentation was phenomenal! I love that the fish was so fresh. We loved everything, as well as the iced green tea! Highly recommend!
