Sushi Beluga -Long Beach

Took myself on a date on a quiet sunday night and had some of the best sushi I've tried at this place. Fish tasted extremely fresh, and prepared perfectly. The staff were friendly and welcoming, yet not intruding. A small shop with character, the ambiance was on point for my delicious meal.

Authentic, fresh sushi and they are Japanese.Drove 30min to give it a try and it was worth it. Great location too Sashimi was my favorite

I just came here for my first time ever 5 days ago and I'm already back, yes I drive an hour to eat here and it's so worth it. I can't tell you enough how much I love this place. The quality of food and service is 1000/10. It's so cute and quiet, and I love Nariko, she is so nice and welcoming. This place is so comforting. Every single thing on their menu is delicious, no matter what you order - you can't go wrong! I was suprised that this sushi place was right next to the new condos on the corner of Ocean and Alamitos. I am glad I found it. You will need to find street parking, mostly off Ocean. They have nice vibrant decor inside and is very clean place. I do feel a Japanese atmosphere in here, and I always like to be transported somewhere during my meals. The waiters greet you promptly and you can pick where you want to sit. They have an extensive menu.The have different kinds of tempura like shrimp, vegetables, and my favorite is white fish with basil tempura. the white fish is a very delicate flavor, and I never had it before until this place. They also have miso soups. The sushi is diverse and there is something there to satisfy your cravings. Always with a side of wasabi and pickled ginger. The platings are always well decorated with sauces.They also serve Sapporo and hot sake which I love to have with my sushi. I usually ask for waters and they bring with ice and a smile. The prices are really good for the excellent quality of food. The service is great. The sushi and the environment really makes me happy when I visit. Worth checking out and putting on your list of places to visit.

This spot offers good sushi in a relaxed and casual setting! I remember my first time trying it--I didn't expect much, but when the sushi arrived, it both looked and tasted high-quality.Aside from the sushi, I've tried their baked green mussels and raw oysters. The mussels were decent, though I've had better elsewhere. The oysters, while I'm not sure if they're Kumamoto (they're similarly small), have always been delicious. That said, I've also tried their unagi, both as sushi and in rolls, and it was disappointing. The unagi tasted either microwaved or just old--it's definitely not something I'd order again. On a positive note, the servers and sushi chefs here have always been friendly and kind, which adds to the experience.

Coming from the Midwest, enjoying sushi in Southern California is heavenly experience. The grade of sushi particularly here is exceptional, with generous portion of sashimi. Luckily we came on a quiet mid week afternoon, so we got a a table very easily and was walking distance (2 blocks from my hotel). Prices were very reasonable and the staff was prompt. My highlights were the salmon sampler (5 pieces of salmon made into oral art. Just a luxurious experience. Based on Yelp reviews I also got the yuzu roll (thanks Yelp). It was an amazing amalgamation of spicy, citrus, pepper, cilantro and seafood. I was in heaven. This place made my week! I'm still thinking about the salmon !

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good sushi and service in a casual, comfortable environment. A friend suggested this place for dinner since it was within walking distance from her hotel. I hadn't been here since it changed over from Poke Cat, but it looked nice enough. It was surprisingly not too crowded on a Saturday evening, and our party of three was able to get seated right away. We decided to share the #802, which is a party platter for 3 people--$145, as of this writing. You get nigiri tuna, salmon, white fish, albacore, aburi salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, Uni, spicy tuna, salmon roe, rainbow roll, and SPA roll. It's a great deal--turned out to be a lot of food. The fish was nice and fresh, even the Uni, but the rice was a bit too cool and hard. We also got a large beer and hot tea. Service was friendly and prompt, and we had a very nice time. Probably the nicest sushi place I've been to in the downtown area.

Great customer service, clean establishment, delicious, fresh and tasty sushi and a good selection of it...definitely coming back!

Visiting from Pasadena we found yelp's reviews decided to try the raved about Abuei Miso Salmon, baked miso roll and baked card spicy tuna roll. Everything was so Delicious . Made my staycation super fun to watch the amazing chef present each piece from the sushi bar. This place is Special. So Fresh and Unique.

A hidden gem! Dined here a few times and the food is always fresh and consistent. Parking is limited but we were able to find street parking pretty quickly. Ambiance is cozy and intimate, great for a date night or dining with friends. Service is always attentive and friendly, we've had great experiences every time we dined. Some of my favorites:- yellowtail crudo: super fresh, comes dressed with sauce and topped with something crunchy. Delicious! - salmon crudo: same dressing and topping as the yellowtail crudo, but I prefer yellowtail more ! - nigiri: all of their fish tasted very fresh but some of my favorites that we've tried are yellowtail belly, aburi miso salmon, toro and salmon belly- baked green mussels: so good, it comes baked with enoki mushrooms and topped with avocado. It's a nice touch of toppings, other restaurants usually just bake it in the sauce. I would definitely return and recommend to my friends to dine here.
