Surf City Gourmet Pot Pies

I'm sitting here contemplating what to eat this weekend, and ...oh, hell yeah, Surf City Pot Pies! They are unforgettable - all the descriptions that you read about pot pies like creamy, flaky, buttery, rich, tender and fresh are completely defined here. AAAHHHH! Freaked out when I saw the headline that they were closed....and then read further - temporarily. WHEW!!!!Order now. You know you want to.

They must be out of business. So sad because I'm in HB and in need of a good pot pie place. Bummer :(

First day of school dinner (kid's request) hot, healthy and delivered at 5:30. Kids have a Pavlovian response to all yellow "x box" cars as we've been devouring Colin's pies for years. Ordered a large Veggie - requires 2 day notice - very labor intensive dish with complex and rich flavors. Kind of pricey at $38 but we love it and it's vegetarian. Of course we needed a shepherds pie as well. Staple. Happy belly.

Yes, 5 stars, as good as it gets. The waves may not be great but chowing down on one of Colin's fantastic $5 pot pies after 3 hours in the surf is about as close to heaven as one could get. And you don't have to get all gussied up either. He delivers right to your surf-mobile! I was a little skeptical, seeing this kinda-cute gentleman handing out his business flyers but I'm game for almost anything after a surf and the "Surfer's Breakfast Pie" caught my eye. After my first taste, I knew my Martha Stewart pot pies were but a fading memory, lost to the man from England where pot pies are a cultural norm*. The semi-sweet salsa provides just the right snap to make a mouth-watering taste delight in a freshly-baked, hot breakfast in your wetsuit or street clothes. *We shared the "Sweeny Todd" joke but I was assured of his personal selection of only top-quality meat and vegetables.

After reading a few reviews for this place, it sounded really good. I checked out the website and the selection looked enticing and the prices, for delivery, looked pretty fair. Unfortunately, when I called the first time, I was told you need to order a day in advance or very early in the morning. The pies are made to order but with ingredients so fresh, they need to be ordered well ahead of time. The next time, I called at about 8am hoping for a same day delivery for dinner. I was in luck. Colin, the owner, showed up himself in his yellow van to deliver the piping hot pies. We tried the classic chicken and the beef borgeniogne. Both were medium sized and it easily fed our family of four. We added our own home made salad on the side to stretch things. The ingredients were very fresh, lots of meat, and the filling was flavorful without being overly salty. I added my own hot sauce for the extra kick I needed. The family definitely preferred the chicken to the beef. I'll be ordering the shepherds pie next time. At $12 each for a pie that serves two, it's not bad. A great alternative to pizza, too. We will definitely be ordering again.

Surf city pot pies was highly recommended by a co-worker. She wouldn't stop raving how gourmet and yummy Colin's pot pies were. So I decided to cater in some individual pot pies for a staff meeting and it was a HIT! The best part is He delivered them piping hot. The crust was perfect, soft but with a slight crunch and it wasn't soggy which was perfect. The ingredients and seasoning was hearty and comforting. Love love love them. I Highly recommend placing your orders ASAP. Colin was so kind and charming. Thank you, please open up a store/restaurant ASAP!

We ordered the Shepard pie for dinner this evening and omg...so delicious! I highly recommend this place. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to order a day in advance. It was inconvenient but the pie was worth the wait. You just gotta plan ahead!

Surf City Gourmet Pot Pies are delicious and highly recommended. The pies are cooked to perfection with high quality ingredients and hit the spot after surfing! I've tried the Surfers Breakfast Pie, South West Ranchero and another with beef, blue cheese & carmelized onions and all were amazing. The owner is also very nice. These are a must try for your family or next meeting.

Love these pot pies! The chef delivers them hot to your door. We really liked the veggie pie, as he was able to customize it to a lower sodium (but delicious) version for our sodium restricted diet. I would highly recommend this business and can't wait to order again!

Killer pies from a local, call em for delivery or stop him on the street for great grinds.... The Shepard's Pie is awesome!
